Actually I'm left wondering why would Britanna waste their time on this?

They are willing to use "Honorary" Britannians who are barely above a number to rescue an abandoned unit (Which must mean the fight with the EU was not going well).

If the abandoned unit is Britannian why would they give this delicate job to numbers?

Of course if the abandoned unit are also numbers then Britannia technically wouldn't care either unless the commanding officer does.

More information needed.

who's to say they are fighting for britannia at all ?
did it actually SAY that ?

if not, a group of japanese people, who are in exile, fighting AGAINST britannia on the EU front could make sense

I see potential in part of a Japanese terrorist cell discreetly going to the EU in an effort to request help, only to get caught up in the crossfire between the two warring superpowers.

That could be true too.

Glasgows aren't outmoded. They are just relegated to civilian use such as police work. She could easily steal one.

That's not as easy as it sounds, she needs the id code and the password. How would she get that? The show made it pretty clear it was impossible to steal a Knightmare frame unless you could get the pilot to give you access...

Threaten a guy at knifepoint for the code, simple enough. Not to mention that she stole back her Guren despite the fact that Lloyd and Cecile (should have) changed the access codes. The system can't be infallible.

Just like you can hotwire a car, hotwiring a knightmare should also be feasible.

Since the access keys seem to be actual electronic devices rather than similar to car keys, it is likely that "hacker keys" could be developed with the necessary software to hack into and bypass the security systems of a knightmare they were plugged into. Any reasonably developed organization could produce, or at least secure such devices and then dispense them to combatants as needed for missions.

If Kyoto could keep terrorists supplied with knightmares, and fund the development of the Guren, then they could certainly shell out some cash for "hacker keys" to pass around, so some terrorists could swipe knightmares if a situation arose, or if it was the focus of a mission.

That's all cool except knightmares aren't cars. They aren't left parked the side of the street for "terrorists" to hijack. Like most military equipment knightmares are probably kept in a military base.

It's not impossible, specially for Kallen since she can pass as Britannian pretty easily. She could kill a soldier (preferably female), steal her uniform and assume her identity, then get into the base. But it's all very high risk for little reward, if you get caught it is instant death.

Knightmares are, however, civilian use machines as well. The one Ohgi used during Zero's debut in Japan was one such machine. And when Knightmares for civilians exist, so does the chance to create hacking technology for them.

If a guy in the real world can jack a tank with a crowbar from a National Guard armory, I think Kallen could steal a Knightmare.

As if the risk is any lower in the other activities they do.

He stole a tank that by then was over 30 years old i.e obsolete, from a weekend warrior base. That hardly says anything. Now, tell me of someone breaking into a base and stealing an F22, or heck even an F16 and then that'd be more akin to stealing a knightmare frame.

Considering how outdated Kallen's Glasgow was, its actually a fairly appropriate comparison.

Rising covered it. This isn't state of the art tech, it's a behind-the-times model retired to civilian work. Stealing a Glasgow is the same type of situation. If it were a Sutherland, that would be different, but even those are transported by train and could be stolen with relative ease.

She could always try and seduce the soldier into handing over the knightmare keys( preferable female ofcourse).

She or anyone could do what Lelouch did and cover their features with a stolen infantry uniform and then make some claim to a knightmare passing by about finding a possible terrorist base, a disk, say they were injured, or be holding one of their comrades and claiming they caught someone with possible intel. When the soldier exists their frame the terrorists shoot them, then take the frame.

The same applies to base infiltration. If they could steal C.C.'s capsule and get that far in broad daylight, even when Tamaki had screwed up their plan, then sneaking into a base and grabbing some frames isn't outside the realm of possibility.
