as Cyanoctopus said, custom themes, mainly in the form of visual style, which requires the user to patch a few system files using the uxtheme patcher (found here) and well, a visual style to use (a repertoire of them can be found here <-- most if not all of the VSs here originate from dA.

there are other stuff that many VSs will require you to replace (like shell32.dll, explorerframe.dll, explorer.exe, etc.) that can be laborious, but its all in the process of deskmodding

thanks , but yeah . willing to put in quite some effort to make my desktop nice .
can't do it atm because laptop charger blew out . But hopefully i can fix it soon and i'll update with my fall desktop !
