Normal is rather easy, but once you go into hard you have to learn to use dodge offset to keep on comboing and the last difficulty you have no Witch Time at all.

The name is so absurd I can't take it seriously. Bayonetta? Are you kidding me? Reminds me of Avatar's "unobtanium." >>

Well considering Bayonetta isn't her real name but one she gave herself which derived from bayonet (obviously)... you know the knife soldier's put on their rifle.

A sharp object that penetrate... thus the name. I may be wrong though.

I know what a bayonet is, that's the very reason I can't take it seriously. I'm a bit of a firearms nut and actually have an SKS with a bayonet on it. But making it sound more feminine and making it someone's name? It's as silly sounding as a character named Bulletta, Magazinetta, or Actionetta.

I think they mixed english and italian (bayonet in italian is baionetta).

Heh, at least the criticism to the game is only limited to plot and characters. Kinda attests to the quality that the game is.

except Unobtatnium is a term that's been used in the film industry for YEARS as a "behind the scenes" joke term for something until they can name it. Avatar made the inside joke a movie joke for giggles.

the name Bayonetta has a flare to it unlike GUNetta or ASSenetta, even though the name is weird at least it isn't named after a bagillion year old POEM

And if she was named Charlotte then the game title would make no sense whatsoever

The only problem this game had was narrow-minded players, people who couldn't accept femininity and people who couldn't accept a female main character this badass.

Even those who loved the game but said the game would be even better if the main character was male, they also possess the same narrow-mindedness and discrimination against femininity.

Whatever happened to Tomb Raider, Bullet Witch, Resident Evil and all those games featuring women taking action? I don't recall any being criticized about the leads being female...

I would have liked her more if she wasn't so slutty at times. I accept female leads, if their a good character. like Hilde from SC4 fully armored babe that can kick Knightmare's ass and bang Siegfried. right now I can't think of many female leads, oh yea.. Samus. Big example of female leads can kick ass as much as males. tho from time to time one gender just rains supriem over the other. Mass effect for example, the female shephard just can't beat the male.

It's funny people can't handle Bayonetta, but can handle a smug mass murderer like drake from Uncharted 2. Honestly why are people having this discussion in the first place? It's a pure action game get over it. Sure you'd have a point if this was one of those cinematic bs games that seem reign this gen.

Honestly it's like complaining about a bad story line in porn. >_____>

Hahaha, I'm so sorry but that was just funny.

theres two big diffrences between Drake and Bayonetta, Drake doesn't rely on sexy clothing/fighting/poses to be popular. atleast in Uncharted they actually slip in the fanservice very well. not just throw it around like a monkey throwing his poo. sure bayonetta has good don't get me wrong but not as good as Uncharted 2

"damn its a shame you gotta sit on that pretty thing"

All a matter of taste. I'm just pointing out they both have their negatives, but people seem to rag on Bayonetta a lot more. Is sex that scary for people?

Though the main point was why are people even discussing this. Games like GoW and U2, need good characters since people like those games, because they invoke an illusion of being strong(you are pulled into the world). To enjoy Bayonetta you actually have to be skilled(you know it's game and you like it because you are good at it). While Drake is debatable(matter of taste). Kratos is in no way better or worse then Bayonetta, but people aren't complaining about him?

because Kratos is a all around bad ass.

Bayonetta... needed skill? Are you Shittin me? I just went around dodging all the time and attacking when i got bullet time... oh i mean "witch time" and just kept using the punch kick punch combo with katana. to me it didn't take any skill because of the OP dodging.

And Bayonetta isn't? GoW is just as guilty with trying to sell sex and over clichéd characters. Atleast Bayonetta doesn't take it self seriously unlike GoW.

Hello, normal mode. I'd like to refer to the higher difficulty settings. It's certainly is a lot harder than cake walk GoW.

The only reason it isn't harder then say NG or DMC, is because it's fair. Most of the time DMC was hard simply because it didn't have the same amount of checkpoints. Not to mention design choices like you can't be attacked by enemies you don't see. DMC or NG you got damage most of the time by some one off camera. And things you can't avoid unless you know it's coming(trial & error).

DMC allows for an amazing number of combos with all sorts of weapons or weapon alteration combos, firearms included. The number of tricks you could pull without even using your style were so many that you can kill an enemy in a million different ways (provided they can survive the barrage, which is why hard is the most pleasing mode, for me at least). I didn't enjoy GoW as much, because Kratos is always using chains and the cancel points in the middle of your combo execution aren't nearly enough.

Dante has enough HP to survive sneak attacks, and by the time you play DMD mode you're skilled enough to use the just frames from dodging and RG's block to null any attack.
Anyway, I have the feeling that Kyero talks about Bayonetta as if it's DMC2, where you just max out guns/knives and beat the shit out of everything in the game. Is bayonetta really THAT bad!? o_0

Its not BAD! its just pretty easy if you dodge most of the time and not head strong everything. and one thing i loved about DMC was the weapon changing on the spot. no pausing and setting the stuff. specialy in DMC4 where you can change styles on the fly.

in DMC4 theres no "PRESS A and B NOW!" theres only timing AKA the last boss(DMC4)

the only hard thing about bayonetta was those damn claw fuckers. UUGH they pissed me off so bad on hard mode.

honestly to many action games today use the button cutscenes in fights. Resident Evil 4 & and 5 made it look awesome because it was either life or instant death!

I played DMC3 on release, I remember it being a hell of a lot more frustrating. Though that was mostly due to the fact there was no way to save in a level. I was pretty much invincible, but bosses frustrated the shit out of me. Since if you didn't know what to do you died and had to play same level all over again. Not mention the fact that gamefaqs is for pussies so is using items(in action games, just my way of playing games. btw yes I am aware that isn't a fact).

PS; Don't get me wrong, I liked DMC3 a lot.

You can switch weapons in Bayonetta as well mid combo even. :O

I agree with the bullshit quick time events though. >_>
