And reversibly, attacking innocent kitty and girl =/= pure and innocent.

As I said, pure motive, the actions were not. It was however, the only path to achieving her pure motive.

Either way, pure and innocence are complete opposites to ruthless. There is much inbetween to better define a character that has no ill intent.

Personally, Black-Mage seemed to of come up with the best term for her - stoic. Though even that leaves holes, as she clearly had emotions...But they were hidden for the most part until near the end of the first season.

In other news -

Looking at the art for Nanoha series, I'm so glad for the movie because the art looks so lovely.

Yeah, It's definitely a huge improvement over any of the three series. It's actually...quite solid. Never thought I'd be saying that for 7arcs animation, lol.

Does anyone know why Nanoha is crying/tearing up here? I don't recall her crying at all until the bridge scene. The scene where Fate meets up with Nanoha after her resolve to "start anew," perhaps?

That background appears to be the Garden of Time. This must be the equivalent to Fate joining up with Nanoha in ep12.

That is kind of what I figured. Thanks.

...Can't say I recall her tearing up there, but then again, they probably just changed it so she does.

Nanoha turns rather weepy this movie... She's trying too hard to win an Oscar.

Those are tears of joy, nothing wrong with that~

They did the same for Fate when her mother and Alicia are falling into the abyss. Except for Fate, they're clearly not of the happy kind...

Still, somehow I don't think Fate deciding to join Nanoha in the fight is enough to make anyone tear up with joy; heck, she handled it much better in the original series, so why change it for the movie? It's like they're making her weepy and emotional for no good reason other than TEH DRAMAZ.

Fate was in total shock after Nanoha left to deal with Precia...This is a 8yr old girl we're talking about, it is more believable for her to cry happy tears than for her to not cry at all...When the girl she risked her life to save comes to aid her after she looked like she would hardly recover at all originally.

It is probably just as important as the bridge scene, where she cried heavily there. And a smile followed by a few tears is hardly extreme.

Still think it was added for TEH DRAMAZ LOL and for no good reason in itself, but whatever. And I was so hoping that Emoha would be kept to a minimum in the movie.

Wait a minute, since was does crying translate to Emo.

Happy tears != Emo.

And from a NanoFate fan point of view, they probably did it to increase the impression of the bond between these two.

AKA: The drama. Really, there's no other reason. Whether that is a good or a bad thing is subject to one's point of view, but the only reason they did that was because of the drama.

Tears = more emotion = more drama = bigger reaction from the audience.

Movie making 101.

It's the kind of drama that makes the viewer feel good, all the same. Emotional, yet happy.

It's probably the very reason why so much of the audience claimed to crying during the movie itself. Either way, IMO - Nanoha's got a big heart, that scene was deserving of some Nanoha tears.

Bah, still takes away from the story and the character herself. There was no drama needed in that scene, it was perfectly fine in terms of emotion just in seeing Fate decide to help Nanoha fight and seeing Nanoha's delighted expression and hearing her say Fate's name. Having her tear up cheapens it, IMO.
