I don't have a Wii, but I was seeing the list of all the games of N64 for the Virtual Console last week and realized 90% of the games at least were from Nintendo. So I believe Sonic games will never be available for the 3DS VC either.

Both the Sega Genesis/Megadrive and Sega Master System are both on the Wii's VC, so the possibility of no Sonic VC games on the 3DS is close to nil.

It's likely the Sega Game Gear will be a VC for the 3DS eventually too.

3DS Sales Fall Following Pricedrop Announcement

Word of Nintendo's upcoming 10,000 yen price drop for the 3DS spread quickly, it seems. Media Create's hardware chart for last week, which includes four days of post price drop announcement sales, shows the 3DS at 16,415 units, or around half of what the system sold the week prior.

The system will have to endure one more week of pre-drop purgatory, which will be reflected in next week's charts. The price drop takes effect on August 11.

Here's this week's full hardware chart, covering July 25 through July 31. Last week's sales are in parentheses.

As was mentioned earlier, it isn't a price drop but a premium drop. Nintendo thought 3DS would sell like hot cakes, and since they don't expect the supply to be able to meet demand, the sensible thing was to raise the price.

If you think all your stock would sell out with no quick way of making more, it makes business sense to raise the price.

The miscalculation was that 3DS was pushed out before the game software and the online store was ready. So 3DS was NOT sold out, meaning they have far less market share to sell games to.

If Nintendo had waited an extra year, they would have spared themselves the humiliation.

Kind of indicates that the pricing was wrong. Interest is there, but out of reach for little humans.

The whole point about re-releasing classic titles is to bulk out the library in the early days of the hardware until new games catch up. Delaying their release this long would defeat the entire purpose of doing it.

Metroid Fusion is an interesting member of the list. Was a great game that I'll enjoy replaying (of course that applies to all the so-far announced games they're giving us in the ambassador package).

Every website is talking about a bunch of games that are announced for 2011, but there are no updates I can find on them. Anyone have updates for:

- Tales of the Abyss
- Professor Layton and the Mask of Miracle
- Sonic Generations

There's probably more but I can't think of them right now.

Abyss, at the very least, still doesn't have an official date for the US. It has a European release date of November 10th, so most expect it to be around there. Gamestop put it up as February 7th, along with Tales of Graces, but there's no word from anywhere or anyone besides Gamestop in regard to those dates.

I wouldn't say no idea, we have some idea. They said before the end of 2011.

I really hate that I can't get a 3DS until winter. I can't wait though, and by then a lot of good games will be out and hopefully the free GBA games will still be around. I barely played my GBA for some reason so I missed out on quite a few there.

For the time being, the GBA games are exclusively for the Ambassadors. Nintendo has said that there are currently no plans to release them on the eShop to the public. After 11:59 PM EST today, if you haven't connected your own 3DS to the eShop, you won't be getting those GBA games.

If they're games you really want, you could try finding a used one that hasn't had it's data wiped and that was connected to the eShop before August 12th.
