The ending for the comic ended with Kick Ass being cockblocked after his crush sends him a picture of her sucking off her boyfriend. Yes, there is a second Kick Ass comic series, but I haven't heard many great praises for it. In fact I sorta got bored and stopped caring after the first issue of Kick Ass 2. Huh.

I bought the American remake of Perfect Blue today.

It's a pretty good movie. It's not going to change my Top 5, but I like it.

Ahhh! Black Swan was a wonderful film! I found it somewhat spooky but beautiful.

Gwok chaan Ling Ling Chat (English title: From Beijing with Love):

Hilarious parody of James Bond movies starring and directed by Stephen Chow; indeed, I find the movie more enjoyable than most Bond movies.

For one, I find Stephen Chow's protagonist to be more likable than Bond. In manu ways he's almost the anti-Bond. Every attempt by him to act suave tends to backfire in some way, he's poor with guns, his gadgets are completely useless and created by a guy who's literally insane, and his boss is the main villain (not a spoiler, this is revealed within the first 15 minutes) and sends him on a mission with the express purpose of getting rid of him.

And yet at the same time, he does manage to be cool in his own way though he often does come off as a ditz. Still, he's a pretty nice guy for the most part and can be quite romantic.

Although this movie is a parody there are quite a few mood whiplash moments. The shopping mall sequence being the most extreme where the film suddenly becomes quite dark for a few minutes as a trio of robbers slaughter innocent civilians, one of them is murdered in front of his own son who was taken hostage. None of this is played for laughs.

But in the end, I think this works in the movie's favor as the death of the innocent civilians triggers the revelation that the hero is not as incompetent as he seems to be up until then and makes this moment and its gruesome aftermath (this movie's definitely more violent than any Bond movie, even License to Kill) much more awesome. Not to mention that this movie, like many other Stephen Chow movies, has some moments that I found movie in between all the jokes.

9/10

Spirited Away at a dorm event. Lots of fun, it's been awhile since I saw that movie.

Sucker Punch.

Past it's not-so subliminal fantasies of women empowerment, the action blew me away. I was impressed.

I watched half the first LotR movie last night. It was actually better than I remember! Will watch the rest of it soon.

Two of the best martial arts movies I've ever seen. The first one was better imho. I also liked how it also showed the suffering in China during WW2 following its annexation by Japan.

Watched the Battlestar Galactica miniseries last night. I'm late to the party but it was great. Now I finally have a good sci-fi show to watch, assuming the show is on par with the movie's quality.

Late is better than never, ChainLegacy. Oh, and my suggestion to you? Don't watch the last episode, it sorta just kills it.

This is interesting. It's got Romans, Chinese warriors, Malay legends, magic and Pirates.

It's already showing in Malaysia and will be showing in Singapore at the 20th of April. As for the rest of world, i'm not sure but there will be an international release since this movie was also made to promote Malaysia internationally.

It's animation fiesta for me, watching Happy Feet and Tarzan just a few days ago. Of course, the latter is the better-half of the two, but Happy Feet still brings a fresh concept and some really catchy songs. Tarzan, nonetheless, brought Edgar Rice's classic to life.

Just watched A History of Violence... It wasn't as good as I hoped it would be, but I still liked it unlike those people on IMDB bashing it... Viggo Mortensen was as awesome as always, and the fight sequences were really cool. But I guess it was a bit explicit... I think I misread the parents content advisory...

I'm not sure about the Malay Chronicles. The cinematography seemed kinda crappy in the trailer. I hope that it is limited to the trailer and doesn't also apply to the entire film. You know what I mean?
