Deadliest Warrior (Season 2)

I was wondering if anyone else here has watched the show, besides me.The first episode of the second season aired last night, (SWAT vs. GSG-9).Spike has already release the list of all the match-ups for this season, and would like to know everyones opinion on who might win.

The list:

1. SWAT vs. GSG-9

2. Attila the Hun vs Alexander the Great

3. Jesse James vs Al Capone

4. Aztec Jaguar vs Zande Warrior

5. Nazi SS vs Viet Cong

6. Roman Centurion vs India's Rajput Warrior

7. Somali Pirate vs Medellin Drug Cartel

8. Persian Immortal vs Celt

9. KGB vs CIA

10. Vlad the Impaler vs Sun Tzu

11. Ming Warrior vs Musketeer

12. Comanche vs Mongol

13. Navy SEAL vs Israeli Commando

So the question is:

WHO IS DEADLIEST?

Oh snap.

I actually watched this show, and I saw last nights episode. I actually had to do a double check because I thought I watched all of them lol. Season 1: My favorite was the Spartan and the ninja. Gooo Spartans! *says in cheerleader-ish voice*

I hope Sun Tzu wins... xD Then again, his tactics is about avoiding war and making the most of it. Vlad... well, is the opposite xD

The one thing I don't like about this show is that they gauge almost completely on arsenal and not the actual skill. Although it is hard to find a Nazi and a Vietmanese guerilla and have them duke it out

Usually one person does not make an army. But when I think of the Mongols, I can think of only one person:
Spoiler for Leader and Emperor:
To say that they were known and feared both before and during his era would be an understatement. I say the Mongols would win this battle.

I've seen only a few episodes here and there. Shaolin Monk was the only one I could remember previously.

Yeah I agree with you, I saw the one with maori warrior vs shaolin monk and I think the maori had more edges but they still lost to shaolin

Yesterday's was good.

3 looks interesting.

9 looks to be good.

13 just looks like it'll have to chance the title of the show to Badassest Warrior.

The rest of them are completely meh.

Can't stand that they have such a hard-on for the spartan though. SHIELD > ALL dur hur hur.

By your choices, I can tell that your into modern warfare a lot!

As for the ones I'm more eagerly waiting for are:

1. Attila the Hun vs Alexander the Great: this one will be something since I like both of them.

2.Roman Centurion vs Indian Rajput warrior since I know so little about the Indian Rajput warrior. But of course my money is on the Roman Centurion.

3.Nazi SS vs Viet Cong: I guess this one will depend on what terrain they will face off.

4.Vlad the Impaler vs Sun Tzu: I don't know what to make of this one since it is my understanding that Sun Tzu is a strategist not a warrior.

The others are also interesting but I believe the results for those ones are clear already.

I'm not much of a fan for all the modern match ups (those being ones with guns). I like the more ancient pairs better.

these are the fight i would watch and the team i think would win.

3. Jesse James vs Al Capone = Jesse James

5. Nazi SS vs Viet Cong = Viet Cong

11. Ming Warrior vs Musketeer = Ming Warrior

13. Navy SEAL vs Israeli Commando = Navy SEAL

hope it won't be a rip of like the first season, where 1 owns from the beginning and then suddenly the last surviving member of the losing team goes on a killing frenzy.
i still think the Yakuza should have won against the Italian Mob, espacially the last bit of the fight was a 1 on 1 fight wich the Yakuza would have dominated on.
oh well

Well this show is definitely entertaining, it's complete and utter bullshit. I mean, ninja vs. Spartan? WTF is that? The ninja would probably poison or slit the Spartan's throat while he slept, and the Spartan's main strength (well, the strength of any hoplite warrior, really) stems from the phalanx. Ergo, a head-on 1 vs. 1 fight between the two really is like comparing apples and oranges. And that's just one example from an entire series.

Also, the weapon choices are total bullshit, too. I mean, IRA with a flamethrower? Just because they used it once doesn't mean you get to add it to the arsenal. If the IRA gets a flamethrower, then the Spetsnaz should've gotten poison gas.

That being said, I rather enjoy watching the "representatives" from both sides get all hot-headed and angry. Their dick measuring contest always makes me laugh, and it's probably the only reason I continue to watch the show[/longmotherfuckingrant]

Shield was unfairly UNDERRATED in fiction and video games for a way too long time. If anything, Deadliest Warrior reminded people why warriors of the past used them.
It have also shown the lethal power of european broadswords and claymores while showing that a katana gonna do nothing against an armor (a chainmail), none of that "HERP DERP EURO BLADES R LETHAL BECAUSE THEY ARE HEAVY AND BLUNT! KATANA IS SUPERIOR BECAUSE THE STEEL WAS FOLDED OVER 9000 TIMES!!!111" bullshit.

I think alot of historical inaccuracies were revealed in the show and some inaccuracies introduced as well.

The experts are quite entertaining amongst themselves. The show all and all is great for popcorn entertainment; Sun Tzu's fight is going to be a puzzler. Maybe army versus army?

More likely the chiness infantery type of the the time Sun Tzu VS the infantery type of the time of Vlad. After all they evaluated the warriors by their weapon but not much by their training or tacticle.

I do find pleasure in the nerd rage that follows the episodes. The one after Ninja vs Spartan was hilariously epic. As for the show, it was entertaining, I enjoyed the splatter job (poor dummies and piggies), the weaponry porn (I would have never known about the Mere club and the Iklua) and the shit talk from the 'experts'. And the justice done to weapons underrated in fiction, + the debunking of those that are overrated. (I am looking at you "Katanas are just better" and "Armor is useless")

I don't really like the modern match-ups.
Like, when you put ninja against spartan, you get some weapon variation...but SWAT vs GSG-9?
It's a gun, and ...another gun.

That's exactly what I was trying to say. Thank you.

The show's great fun to watch, but if you think you're going to walk away from it with any sort of knowledge... sorry. Hell, I've actually overheard conversations where people used the show as a reference.

Yes, another good point. A lot of the modern mash-ups include organizations that can get their hands on pretty much whatever hardware they want, like SEAL vs. Israeli Commando. In these cases, it'll all come down to training, tactics, and the experience of the individual involved... but wait! None of those are factored into the "high tech computer program run by the Jewfro-sporting 30-year-old nerd!"

I beg to differ for the modern matches. IMO at least one MU in season one was decided exactly by the skill of the individual representing the side. For instance, in Green Beret vs. Spetsnaz, in the pistol test, the Green Beret left a guy alive, but Sonny Puzikas killed all of his targets. Therefore, the weapon actually got the edge due to the skill of that individual user.

SEALs vs. Commandos though I think is going to be probably the closest MU due to the extreme similarities.

As for ancient warfare...

IMO that's a bigger pissing contest than the modern contests, since in the modern ones, you have actual veterans coming to represent their sides. With the ancient warrior contests, it's a bunch of historians and self-proclaimed experts getting into an ego contest, and odds are, the factions aren't even represented correctly.

This is particularly egregious with the ninja. I mean Jesus Christ, he's wearing all black and attacks in the daylight and yells kiai while attacking with a sword instead of staying quiet and hitting the Spartan in the leg with a poison dart?

I mean consider this...ninja sneaks up on spartan, ninja shoots spartan with poison dart, spartan dies before spartan knows about ninja.

But of course, odds are, the show pits warriors against each other in rock-em-sock-em matchups, so that stealth, tactics, etc... have no place.

In fact Max Geiger even said that the show is deadliest warrior, not deadliest assassin, in other words, he explicitly stated that brute force more or less would win the day.

I have a feeling it's probably SEALS vs Shayetet 13, the Israeli naval spec ops unit.

If you can build a De Lorean then bring back King Leonidas of Sparta and Hanzo Hattori and ask Geiger to redo the match, be my guest.

Even then, the so-called "experts" have still done more research than the average internet nerd have done; you know, the same kids on youtube who keep talking like they knows everything about swords. Pulling the same old "twenty pounds two-handed swords" bs.

@ Nappy Hared Azn: If you read me, THIS is exactly what I meant. I think, with the exception of ta/k/ti/k/ool folks who would talk a bit more about Green Beret vs Spetsnaz, Ninja vs Spartan is the match that keeps churning out nerd shitstorms whenever it was brought up. The other match-ups? Not so much.

@ Demongod:

Why does this sound so much of a matter of capital importance? Is the ninja's theorical victory so important?
I mean, look, I LOVE vikings and knights, but did you see me in this thread complaining that viking should have won because he is so metal while the knight should because he was in full plate and have a shield, and because it was proved that olde firearms were not the armor plate killers they were cracked up to be?

On a side note, I will root for the Viet-Cong in the versus SS Nazi, and surely go "ZOMG VIET BOOBY TRAPZORS AND AWSM BATTLEFIELD VIETNAM SOUNDTRACK!!!", and knowing that some will root for the SS because they looks so "SIEG ZEON!!!". But I will be fine with any outcome.

Ninja Vs Spartan was so fixed, if it were realistic either one had a huge chance of winning if they met the right requirements.

now Spartan Vs Samurai was awesome. people underestimate the power of the shield "a shield is a manefest of weakness" oh yea? Kicked your ass.

if a Spartan spots a ninja, It will be very hard for the ninja to survive if he attacked instead of running.

what i want to see is Knight Vs Samurai. Knight Vs Pirate was the dumbest match up of the entire show. YOU CANT PUT AMMO VS ARMOR AND SWORDS AND EXPECT A EVEN MATCH.
