Episode was good. Here's a summary(?)

Spoiler for episode 17 summary+thoughts:

* I think Anri was having an illusion of her family being happy.

*Shizuo beating the crap out of the Saika zombies was my favorite part. The zombies were running at shizuo and he sent them flying with kicks and punches. Celty is watching all of this happen from the sidelines.The Saika zombies crawling all over Shizuo kinda looked like blobs. For a few minutes the zombies stop because I think they hear Saika. Celty gives Shizuo a pair of gloves and he continues to fight after she leaves.

* Haruna now knows that Anri has Saika. Anri knocks the knife out of Haruna's hands. Anri tries to convience Haruna to stop. Anri pokes Haruna in the arm with Saika and we get to see Anri past. Anri's father was really abusive towards her and her mother. I don't think it was that way in the beginning. Before her father could hurt her anymore, her mother kills him and herself with Saika.

*Back to Shizuo vs Saika Zombie fight. The Zombies are all over him and he doews this awesome spinning kick. While fighting Shizuo remembers his childhood I think about his massive strength.

* Back to Anri and Haruna. While Anri was talking, Haruna gets the knife and starts slashing Anri. I like how Anri stands there unaffected and points Saika at Haruna's throat. Then she pokes Haruna in the neck, she (Haruna) starts hearing the voices, and then she passes out.
*After Haruna passes out everyone attcked Shizuo goes back to normal.

* Celty arrives and the pervert teacher tries talking to Anri. I think she blows him off and he runs away like the chicken that he is.

* I laughed really hard the new door of Kadota's van.

* Mikato visits Anri at the hospital. Kida is no where to be found. The conversation between is really pleasant. Anri then flashbacks to when Celty was talking with her. Celty takes the unconscious Haruna with her. Anri starts thinking about stuff.

* Izaya starts talking about Anri and Saika. Then he starts talking Haruna and the pervert teacher. That pervert has the most crappy luck. Shizuo and Tom try to collect a debt from him. He later meets Izaya for info. He sees a brief full of money and steals it. The most important rule about Izaya: You don't steal from Izaya. Izaya sends Celty to go after him. This was scene a few episodes back when Celty was first attacked by the slasher who I think was Haruna. The pervert teacher is seen running after the whole Anri/Haruna confronation. He looks like he was about to attack Shizuo but Shizuo sends him flying which was a good laugh. Another rule: Never attack Shizuo!

* Back to Kadota and the gang. The reporter is still alive. I actually thought that he was dead. They leave him in front of the station.

* Mikado sends a message to the Dollars members.

*Finally find out when Kida has been. With the Yellow Scarves!

Overall, I thought that episode was okay. I can't wait for the next episode. More Kida!

FUCK YEAH! NEXT EPISODE IS THE BEGINNING OF THE YELLOW SCARVES ARC!

This episode sucked hard btw. I am so glad that the slasher arc is finally over. Starting next week Durarara will finally get real interesting.

Well Saika arc ends. About time - to be honest it didn't really interest me as much because it was hardly surprising.

Spoiler for Episode spoilers:

Oh look - Shizuo, the strongest guy in this entire show physically, is beating up the zombies with little difficulty. Not too shocking or suspenseful. Anri's battle with Haruna was done very quickly as well.

Best part of the episode - Shizuo punchs the pedophile teacher. I've been waiting for this since the anime introduced him and Anri and its about damn time. Maybe now he'll learn his lesson: never mess with girls that have swords in their body. Also, don't piss of Shizuo, but that was an obvious lesson since episode 1. Or something like that. Besides that though I did like the small scene with Mikado visiting Anri in the hospital.

Anyways I ranked it a 7/10. To be honest this arc had way too much buildup with little product produced. It was basically teasing us until last episode and that teasing just wasn't worth what was considered a relatively easy solution: beat up everybody. I was expecting something much more thrilling as a solution and this was just sort of...lame. It's not like I haven't seen Shizuo using the same solution to any of his problems for the last 16 episodes. It just wasn't creative.

Also my favorite pair of trouble makers appeared again near the end - Namie really has been lacking screen time since the prologue arc finished, so huzzah.

Now next episode it's time for what is probably one of my favorite arcs out of the series.

Ok. I liked this episode. Shizuo ftw <3 Now that this arc is finally over now things start to get more serious i've been waiting for this ^^

Mmm... Saika arc ends. The development at the end was very nice, but the general episode kind of went on in a very low tension and all. Not very exciting... The random parts of Shizuka going fighting-game on the civilians didn't help the serious nature.
All in all... Left me in a mood that resembles that after watching a documentary...?

Besides, poor sensei... Nothing goes good for that scum this episode...
I wonder if Rena will go after sensei again...
I'm sure he can get some money there though...?

That was indeed a bit anticlimatic, but I loved the episode. Probably because of my Anri/Hanazawa Kana fanboyism. Oh well.

I like how Anri's past was presented. Starting with "This is fiction....... This is reality", quite a huge difference between the two. They were far from being the happy family seen in that dream. Nadeko Anri's father used to beat her and her mother, so the mother took Saika and killed her husband before taking her own life. And it looks like I was wrong about Anri's mother being the milk lady from Shizuo's flashback after all. They looked so much like each other...

The fighting part with Shizuo wasn't very exciting. It looks like they tried to make the fight look inhuman, but it just looked plain weird, with the Saika crowd turning into blobs at some point... at least Shizuo looked cool with those Celty gloves. Even Celty was totally fangirling over him.

I enjoyed the scene with Anri at the hospital. It looks like that whole incident helped her get over some of her issues, I doubt she's going to shut her mind to run away from reality anymore. Mikado's got an unexpected love rival now: Celty. Seeing Anri fangirling over her was great, especially since she seems to think the Headless rider is a man. That situation reminded me of Mayu from B Gata H kei. Hopefully, Celty being a girl won't turn her off.

So now we have Mikado at the head of Dollars, Kida at the head of the Yellow scarves, and Anri at the head of the Saika children which are in both factions. Very ironic that what pushed Kida to go back to the Yellow scarves is Anri's lie about being attacked by the slashers. Well, not a total lie.

Sensei's scenes were just hilarious once again. I loved the way he ran away after Anri told him she hates him. And then the guy goes and tries to rob Shizuo... it's like he's looking for trouble. I think he's a secret masochist. Haruna will probably go after him again, I can't really see any reason for her to stop.

And yeah, I was suprised to see Walker open his eyes in the preview. He looked creepy... characters with slit eyes always look creepy when they finally open them. The new Otaku van door looks awesome, but it's going to be hard for them to blend in now. Is that maid cat girl an original character or am I missing the reference?

great episode!!!

Though I can't read the last part on what Mikado sent on the Dollars that make Celty a bit worried And the last part is great. Kida finally taking his rightfull place again.

A war will surely break up and the aura around Anri changed though for the better.

Izaya is really the play maker and mastermind in the shadows. A well played game if I say so myself. Great!

And about the Van. It's really funny seeing the new door design is Haruka. Now it will be easy to be spotted and hard to use when tailing around people.

And lastly is the sensei still alive? he should just die already. Pesky cockroach roaming around.

More like it's stupid because of that's what Izaya wants. Besides where is Saika in all this? I found baffling that the arc resolved itself just like that...

I am amused that Anri has affection for Celty now B|b Need to make up my mind either to go fangirling delish yuri properties or "PURE LABU OF TEENAGERS. OH AND ETERNAL OT3 IS GOOD" type... *sigh* AND I ACCEPT CELTY FANGIRLING SHIZU-CHAN LIKE A GOOD GIRL SHE IS <3333

Anri/Saika's arc end is pretty anticlimatic imho. Then again, I have to admit I kind of expecting them all, although in the end, we get a lot of insight to Anri's situation and mystery.

But really new characters doesn't interest me much except Shinra's dad, Shiki('s design ) and what's-his-name-policeman. So I guess this arc is not only really too low-key for my taste except in the previous episode, but it's just the characters are too... Forgettable? :| In any case, still rating it 8/10, since I do have so much fun time seeing fangirls in Saika's arc, for Durarara's own good.

On the bright side, it does promise that next arc will be much more interesting, with three factions now exist.

And I'm damn sure I will be fangirling Kida. <3

With Anri,Mikado&Masaomi controlling all the three faction...it is likely there will clash in the next arc hopefully.This arc just establish the phase of all-out war that Izaya want to trigger Celty head reaction.Izaya will use any means to bring this war to reality...even will shaken Anri/Mikado/Kida friendship.

Yeah,he is behind everything...what a persistent bastard.I will like too see how well he orchestrated the war & how much Mikado will able to keep Dollars from the clashing with Yellow Scarves.Seems like the last arc just increase their tension with Saika involvement.

I want to see more hoe much Anri can give back to Mikado after all the feelings he showed her and she....not as much. After what Mikado did to save her from seeing that fight of Shizuo VS Simon and finally after all home escorting he did. Let's see how much Anri is going to give back to Mikado for that.

Ah, should have figured it was another Dengeki Bunko reference. Thanks. Togusa doesn't seem to be that much of an anime/manga otaku like others, I think he would've been happier if it was his dear Miku Ruri instead.
