Anime Shows in Terms of Music

I am looking for the best anime shows in your opinion in terms of the anime's music. For instance, it may include the opening and ending theme, but if possible, I would like the songs during the actual show to be good as well. I have been recently introduced to Kumikyoku Nico Nico Douga, and have hated myself ever since for not knowing of it sooner. Having listened to the various good songs in its medleys, I am very curious to know and listen to good songs, so please, help me!

Short/Bias Answer: Anything by Kyoani, and/or Key . Especially K-ON and Angel Beats since both have good BGMs, OP/EDs, and pretty nice insert songs.

Non-Bias: Recent ones[2009] that were considered for best sound track here were Clannad After Story, K-ON, Needless, Bakemonogatari, and
Kara no Kyoukai.

Aside from that ones with a notable soundtrack, and OP/ED to me would be Death Note, and Code Geass.

Also you should check out these two threads here, and here.

Are you looking for a show with a good musical score, or actual songs? Would be good if you made yourself a bit more clear.

I thought Maison Ikkoku had a great OP, ED and soundtrack.

Cross Game had a good OP and ED, can't remember anything about the soundtrack though.

Check out Macross Frontier, it's a musical powerhouse. Has over 15+ vocal songs and while the BGM isn't Kanno's best it's still pretty good.

Anything by Yuki Kajiura is great. My personal favourite would be Kara no Kyoukai.

Not to mention another half-dozen similar threads in the Music area.

My usual suggestions are Dennou Coil, Oh! Edo Rocket, and Bartender. Lately the soundtrack for House of Five Leaves has caught my attention.

Nodame is excellent if you enjoy classical, the anime itself is centered around music.

For me, this starts and ends with FLCL. Soundtrack by The Pillows, arguably Japan's greatest band. And the songs are perfectly woven into the story.

Other highlights would be True Tears, House of Five Leaves, Beck (another series where music is integral to the plot), Oh! Edo Rocket and Cross Game. As well, I would recommend Seirei no Moribito - generally superlative, but also specifically for the BGM and ED.

I'm surprised that no one mentioned Cowboy Bepop and Samurai Champloo, each of which was literally conceptualised and designed around a specific genre of music: jazz for Bepop and hip-hop for Champloo.

Cowboy Bepop OP, Tank!

Samurai Champloo OP, Battlecry

*facepalm* how could I forget, I also second these.

Another anime, surprisingly, I found while watching parodies is the original japanese version of
Yugioh, no joke, just listen
