Yeah, France is in such a mess right now, hopefully after this World Cup they can become better. Most of the troublemakers are the old veterans who may not be as good as they were anyway, let Laurent Blance usher in the new age of France, cultivating young talented players like Gourcuff and Nasri.

Oh, and it wasn't just France who are having problems right now (although theirs are without a doubt the worst). There's also rumors of unrest within England's team after their disappointing performance, and Ghana's player Sulley Ali Muntari followed Anelka as a player sent home early. So yeah, things are heating on and off the pitch...

Anyway, Spain seems to finally get their form on with a beautiful run and goal from David Villa.

Beautiful play! something that I expected from Spain

Too much chance wasted though this first half could easily be 4 to 5 goal difference

Honduras a litlle bit rough near the end

I just hope that there wouldn't be more twist to this.......

Ahaha, in the last minute of injury time when Pique is in pain, does the ball hits his groin? If so, it makes sense why it'll hurt so much, no wonder some of the wall in free kicks always covers them. Imagine Roberto Carlos back in the day taking it, with such close range...

Anyway, Spain was dominating the play and is rewarded by a goal, although it should have been more as most of their good chances are wasted. Still, in the last game it all started with just a 1-0 before halftime too, before the floodgates were opened...let's just wait and see.

Ladies and gentleman, David Villa. Give him a string of defenders and he'll pass them to score a beautiful goal, but when it's one-on-one with the GK with plenty of time he'll fail it! Okay, maybe I'm a bit too harsh with him, it's not like he's the first playuer to miss a penalty, but it was so close for a hat-trick. Gotta give it to Honduras' defenders though, there's at least 2 times in 10 minutes that it will be a goal were it not for their intervention.

So, in the end it's "just" a 2-0 victory. Spain puts on a great display, although their finishing percentage is a bit worrying. It's fine for now but when they are facing stronger teams past the grou round the inability to score may bite them back later. Still, to lay off the blame a bit and instead go with praise, the fine performance of the Honduras' defenders have to be appreciated. Time and time again they block the ball just before it went in, without them the score will be much higher.

Fabregas went wild in the first few minutes he was on the pitch.

But yeah, lots of missed chances for the favorites' comeback game. Some of which are too bad, but others are prevented by genuinely determined Honduran last ditch defenses IMO.

I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be Portugal, not Spain that has trouble scoring. I guess Portugal has stolen their fellow Iberian neighbour's goal scoring mojo.

I think the proper term for it now is pulling a "North Korea". Or something like that.

Indeed, so many missed chances. Coming after the crushing performances of Brazil, Argentina and Portugal, it does look somewhat worrying on paper for Spain. But a win is a win is a win. The goals will come when they do, sometimes it's really just all down to luck.

Overall, it's been an exciting second round of group matches. Goal-hungry fans can't complain so much now, not after the sumptuous weekend we've had.
