Yeah I don't mind since they are clearly setting things up here. Everyone's got their paths to walk for the 2 years they will be separated now. Some have a tougher road than others, but going to be busy regardless. Rough thing for Zoro of course since having to get trained by the guy you want to defeat isn't an ideal situation. Still he's usually up against the #2 in terms of power enemies so has to be ready for anything. Everyone's going to need to be tougher for the New World that's for sure. Just too bad that they have to do something like this when they'd obviously much rather be together.

Yeah and the 2 year buffer really eliminate how and when they will get back to Shanbody. Instead of "this is bullshit there is no way he/she should get back that fast" crap.

Good point since you have to consider that they are spread all over the place and getting back will take longer for some than others. Some of them just can't physically get back any time soon. The crew gets stronger and it's believable how they get to that point and when they arrive. Though of course I hope to see them together as soon as possible since it's been just way too long.

One more to go? What happens in next episode then? Or after that? In two weeks, is the OP crew going to be back together and back to adventuring? I hope so, instead of talking about HOW they got stronger which you can use as filler content for several episodes.

They will play it straight like in the manga, so no fillers.

Which let me tell you...RESPECT One Piece anime crew...respect for not going the Bleach/Naruto path when you had the most shiny of opportunities to do so. I mean Naruto in this situation would have 50 or so episodes of just his training (or even worst like they did...2 year of filler that wasn't even related to the training)...which lessens the impact of the return later on...

I do have to say that as bad as Naruto filler were, they were at least expected and opt for DB route. What I can't stand was the Bleach fillers, I was trying to do some catch up after hearing that the HUGE filler arc it had ended. As I was jumping around the espisode I notice they actually did fillers by breaking away from main story from current arc and put unrelated filler in the middle which had me go WTF!!!!

OP anime tends to fill some hole in mang by showing a little more details spreading throught events and using flashback. Though I do have to admit that it would be a bit frustrating for anime-only viewers that when it was in catch-up mode you got 7-12 minutes of new material in an 21 minutes episode. (not counting OP/ED and commercial)

True, that the last thing one would want is like Bleach fillers. Let's get into the middle of a major arc and then toss in a random/unrelated filler arc.

Good to hear though that they won't be digging in their heels in terms of moving forward. I don't know where the manga is right now, but there has got to be chances to have a filler adventure later on.

Fillers is still possible, no one said they can't go on a little side adventure after they meet up...

But really, the most outrageous filler I saw in Bleach while catching up was when Ichigo was in a midst of battle and then the preview of next episode suddenly (and literally) goes "let's take a break in middle of battle and see what's going on in Ichigo's household"

I mean, Bleach was notorious for long battles, but to have this add in with zero ties to main story is just.....

That's when I decided to give up on Bleach all together, though one day I might get suck back in because of the chicks.

One Piece has been good to us with fillers, so i don't think there's anything to worry about this late in.

& i'm guessing a new thread will be up next Sunday?

^It has? So you don't consider repeated flashbacks that take over half of the episode as fillers? I do, if they flash us back to a certain event at least 2-3 times within just couple episodes. They did this a LOT during the Marineford arc.

Personally I would take few episodes of fillers (if they werent crappy like Narutos but instead a separate adventure like the movies) if that would allow us an arc with nonstop action without inserting flashbacks here and there in midst of the battle.

The continual flashbacks in the Enis Lobby arc of Robin's cry and plea really killed the emotional impact it had. Flashback, if used correctly, can be a great emotional tool; however, over-abuse it, like One Piece has done on many occasions, and it becomes an annoyance.

Many manga readers mentioned that the Marineford arc was their most epic arc. However, I as anime viewer, felt like it dragged on forever in the anime. If felt like Luffy moved 10 feet an episode, with 5000 feet until he reached his goal. The continual fillers and flashback took away most of the excitement and emotional impact. It really deminishes the quality of the show.

I much rather prefer the fillers that they did in the past, with inserted arcs that flow with the story. However, if they are going to do a filler arc, please do not have another kid be the main character of that arc. Even the adventures of Perona and Mihawk would be more preferable.

I think, the problem with W7 and Battle of Summit was more of that the arc is simply too long in those two events. If I recall correctly, they tried some filler by extend Davy Back Fight and episodes where SH tour the city. There is also the filler arc right before Thriller Park.

If they had more filler, they run the risk of having 20+ fillers ala Naruto, and it just stupid to go Bleach's route with non-relating filler forced into the arc/battle just to buy some buffer time.

As result, the use excessive recaps in W7/EL which doesn't quite work so they decided to drag out/slows down the action in Shanbody/ID/Marinford which also has its own problem.

I've mentioned before that the anime should just go on hiatus for a while. Otherwise, we're going to have to constantly put up with poorly paced episodes. It seems like there's no such thing as re-runs in Japan, which is silly IMO. Basically, if you miss an episode, you can't catch it again. Why not give the manga time to get considerably ahead so that the anime has more breathing room and thus provides better quality episodes? 1 chapter = 1 episode (not even that sometimes) is unacceptable considering how long of a series One Piece is going to be.

There are re-runs of anime in Japan quite a bit, though One Piece wouldn't be apart of that because of how long it is. Shame, because i can totally see where you're coming from. Thankfully Gintama went with that direction by going of air for a year. Worked like a charm.

I'm one of those people that likes the pace of the anime. Sure those recaps at the start of an episode can be annoying at times, though i'd take them over filler arcs.

I would prefer a hiatus or filler arc over the pacing we have now. The chaos that was the Battle of Marineford in the manga seemed more like a friendly joust than an actual battle between two groups dead set on tearing through each other to accomplish their goals.

yeah there are re-runs in Japan, except that re-runs are treated differently than here in U.S. Instead of show conscious, they are more time slot conscious. Basically reruns are usually done on different time slot if not different station all together and dedicated channels or time slot will be reserved for popular re-runs.

So for example, the rerun of an episode would be showing some time during the same week (or the week after) so people who missed it can catch it, otherwise the best shot is DVD/BD or if the series is popular you can see them in dedicated anime channels or dedicated timeslot for re-runs.

Which is how they manage to keep coming out with new anime and drama every season (3 month) and never had down time like it is in the U.S.

I personally like the way East Asian countries does it. Saves a lot of trouble chasing down new episodes compare to U.S. dramas.

I don't mid the pacing One Piece has. I really don't like fillers that just make something up that doesn't add to the story and is soon forgotten. I really look forward to tonight's episode.

Yep, I can confirm there is no break. They are going right into the next arc. There has also been an announcement for the next them song for the anime. It's going to be titled "We Go!". It's being made by the same people who made the the first "We Are! theme song.
I wrote an article about it over on AnimeVice.com http://www.animevice.com/news/one-piece-a-new-world-calls-for-a-new-theme/5545/" It has some pictures from the Shonen Jump issue that released the news about the new song. I didn't want to post the pictures here, becasue some of them are a bit spoilery.
