The episode had 3 different character animation directors according to the credits. 2 of them are good, one of them is not so good. The talking scenes in the middle of the episode were probably done by the not so good guy as the intro segment with Excellen and Bullet looked good and the final segments with the Mech battle, Latooni and Seolla looking nice too.

^ Wow, I envy you for knowing Japanese. I can't make anything out from that Kanji in credits

EDIT: Anyway, anyone else wants to discuss on producer's point of view in episode 3?
Spoiler for screenshot from episode 3:

I'm sorry if this was asked before, I've been interested in OG for a while now but I tried to watch the first season and it had 3D mechs which I really really disliked so I didn't continue.

Is it necesary to understand OG2's story? I'm assumign it's based on the game right?

OG2 and Inspectors supplements some of the plotholes of OG1 and Divine Wars. Like who are the aliens the Federation are talking to? No they are not Aerogators. Also how does Gilliam Yeager know so much?

School got mentioned in Divine Wars here we see Latooni's School mates who survived.

So...I don't really need to watch the other OGs to enjoy OG2? It'll just enhance the experience?

Not really. Besides they give refreshers like the Judecca re-entering Earth's atmosphere. In the latest ep we see Hagane fishing its remains for Dr. Kobayashi. Since we see Mai in the OP yeah she's alive.

The SRW OVA timeline wise occurs after OG2. So you'll probably spoil yourself in that one.

*sight* Didn't you check what ShinnKillAmuro answered above?

Watching this anime is almost like watching second season of any anime show without checking out the first. You'll get into the story as the time goes but character appearance and few other things will feel so randomly to you. Read summary at the first page if you don't want to play the game or watch DW.

Sorry, for some odd reason (my eyes, and because he posted 2 minutes before i did, his msg didn't load because I used quick reply) missed ShinnKillAmuro's answer above. I apologize for that, I didn't mean to ignore you or waste anyone's time.

^ Don't worry about it. You're not wasting anyone's time, we are here to discuss about our favorite shows and when question is asked, people will try their best to answer it. Mistakes and misunderstandings happen.

From what I can tell, most people like it.

SRW is pretty popular in Japan anyway.

Huh? Nice to know that. Contrast to what I've seen on ANN or MAL or some forum

It is a 20 year old franchise afterall, and the main games allow you to play with fan favourites like Gundam, Macross, Mazinger, Evangelion and so on. Where as in the west we've never gotten any of the main SRW games, just the OG spin-offs. So its understandable most people in the west don't know much about SRW save for a few mecha fans.

The less said about MALs userbase the better.
