I just wanted to say that this thread is wonderful! I've been trying to get something like this for a couple years now. I don't know why no one has produced something like it until now, but THANK YOU to everyone involved. Now I can watch everything on the comfort of my own living-room, instead of the grungy basement! Yay!

Usually, what I do is, I just use VCDeasy to make the image (.bin,.toc, etc.) and then use a program like Fireburner to burn it to disk. |

I dunn have much time so Im copying and pasting part of a response Ive answered via PM reguarding ASPI and VCDEasy:
If you have problems getting the aspi valid try downloading Adaptec ASPI Drivers. And if those dont work you may need to resort to ForceASPI Drivers. Getting the ASPI valid can be a real B**** and I can recall lotsa cursing and restarting my pc before it finally worked.....good luck.

OK, silly question maybe, but is it possible to burn a VCD using a DVD disc? I've got 3+ gigs of videos I'd like to burn onto a DVD, but after I get set up, it says either I don't have a CD in the drive (when burn VCD is selected) , or that don't have enough room (it jumps to about 17 gigs when I have DVD selected.) Everything was encoded using the steps in this thread, but I'm using Roxio for the DVD set-up.
Is it just not at all possible to fool the DVD into thinking it's a VCD? |

As far as abbreviations, I'm not really sure what you're referring to. The file type for a vcd is usually a cd image file. .bin or .toc. If you're referring to the file type for the video it's mpeg1 video (.mpg.) Finally, earlier in the thread (scroll back) people dicussed what software was required and even linked to it. |

What do you mean by laggy? like when you viewed the re-encoded file on your media player it was laggy? cuz it will probably be laggy on your tv as well...
I find that Nero does a good job with vcd/svcd/dvd burning... it's pretty simple to use... and I haven't had any problems with anything I've burned using that software...

First you need to check your DVD player's spec.s to see if it will play VCDs. Of my 2 dvd players, the older one will not play them, but the newer one will. So it may not be your VCDs but your DVD player. It should say CD-RW capable somewhere, if it will play them. If it says that it should play them, then the next step would be to try another capable player to see if it is your VCDs or your player.

Help!
Ok, I did exactly the first part, but thats where my problem is. When I go to file, save wav, it gives me this message.
No audio decompressor found to decompress the source audio format. I searched in some other topics, it told me I needed the AC3 filter, something like that. I downloaded it and it still show me that message. So can anyone help me? I'm trying to put Gundam SEED in a vcd and full metal panic. |
