I play for the building and deconstructing, so I've no experience with the new combat. The Nether is kind of interesting but because of how it is structured, you need to plan out your portal nexus quite a bit if you want it to be in specific areas. Unless you're making your new portals from inside the Nether, you're almost guaranteed to run into headache making them in the surface world as the Nether is first constructed around your first portal. Cavernous maps are a really welcome change of venue, however.

Minecraft! Burrowing Globetrotters

I don't suppose any of you guys play minecraft at all do you?

For those of you who don't, minecraft is a mix between a dungeon explorer/survival and a sandbox game. There is tons to do, anything from fighting skeletons to making a roller coaster and even fighting those creepy creepers. The game is currently in Beta and costs €14.95 ($20 USD).

Here is a quick little video of minecraft
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m_yqO...layer_embedded

I personally find the game quite enjoyable on multiplayer, there are no differences in the game at all except for the fact that you can talk and build with friends. If you guys would like I can give you the IP to my personal minecraft server. Though I do ban griefers so be warned. Try not to destroy other peoples buildings or edit them without their permission.

*Note I searched that there was another thread for this, however it died a few months ago. If the mods want me to delete this I can do it in a jiffy, another forum I go to hates necro-bumping so I don't know if the same rules apply here.*

Minecraft is the otaku answer to Farmville. I've briefly tried this about a year ago or so, but I really don't see the point. It's a bit too sandboxy even for a sandbox. If I want to waste time playing a game with horrendous graphics, I'd rather play Dwarf Fortress.

I was wondering if there was a thread for this!

Addicting as crack. XD I've been working on and off on my castle for the past few months. Nothing as impressive as what others have built, but I'm pretty proud of it.

Last two are from my library (biggest building, in the back).

Definitely an impressive castle. Though plenty of my friends have gotten sucked into it I haven't been able to really get interested.

Cool, any screenshots?

I built a skull on a friend's server. I should visit more often... I was one of the pioneers of the minecart system on the server but then I stopped visiting, the powered rails update came out, and all of a sudden minecart technology had left me behind... XD Not to mention they got started on this ridiculously awesome city...

I find Minecraft pretty great, very innovative. I know Notch kind of got his ideas and inspiration from existing games like infiniminer but in the end it's different from those games.
Spoiler for Some videos concerning Minecraft that I like:

I don't play Minecraft, but I've become a great fan of it after watching Yogscast, BlueXephos on Youtube.

For those who don't know them, yet play Minecraft:

Anyone who watched that will probably end up watching their entire channel of Minecraft videos like everyone else, me included.

I used to watch the Minecraft Yogcrafts, kinda stopped when they got more in-depth with the "Shadows of Israphel" thing though.

Late to the party, it was posted on the official minecraft forums for some time now but I find this timelapse utterly epic.
Spoiler for Penny inspired train station:

It must be pretty difficuilt to coordinate such a project with so many players and still make a jaw-dropping design like there.
