My impression is that she was captured and tortured by Hinata all these year and somehow able to break free......if that's the case then it also explains why gekko hangs around Himea once he heard the news since Hinata is his actual target.

Though tonnes of stuff haven't really been explained, which I assume have already drove off plenty of viewers. Other than Mirai all the characters just don't feel that interesting atm

This is pretty much what i thought after watching ep 2. The dialogue really is cringeworthy at times.

To be honest i really do not like Saitohimea so far. All that "I"LL DO ANYTHING YOU WANT JUST DONT HURT TAITO" etc just really gets on my nerves.

Is it just me or does it seem like they are trying to hard to make the show appealing to fans?

Meh, can't say I like this anime; only thing keeping me is to see the war between the childhood friends lols. XD
Umm...wasn't his regen explained?

I believe he was referring to his supposedly final life points at the end when he used that suicidal fireball.

Yep, way too fast. Destructively fast, even.

Spoiler for Himea's capture:

Spoiler for Taito's death:

Meh, can't say I blame you for not liking it. I'd probably feel the same way if I was introduced to the series in this way.

I haven't seen a show this ridiculously bad since Shining Tears x Wind. The creators are not even trying, although given the source material I guess that's understandable. And the sad part is, I am still gonna watch it on account of it having vampires.

So you're saying the source material is garbage then, huh? Well I absolutely disagree with you on that.

If anything here is worthy of being called garbage, it's ZEXCS' treatment of Itsu-Ten that's turning an otherwise great story into a hollow shell not worthy of being compared to either the manga or the LN.

Regardless, to each their own, I suppose.

So you mean to say you haven't actually read it before condemning?

That's quite a garbage principle

Finally got some time to watch it but man what ... a garbage -_-

What did I just watched....... it's not the itsuten which I know and it's even a lot worse than denyuuden.

The op is also full of fan service crap with naked girls. The whole episode has full of panchira here and there. And Mirai is the official shimapan showing girl of the show. The only good thing is the ED SONG! and I say ED SONG ONLY! it's also fan service centered ending scene.

The ed scene also reminds me of the hero being eaten by the goddess in denyuden.

No darn actual explanation at all of what's happening. Specially what's with the ending! how did Taito get saved. His supposedly dead!

WHAT THE HECK IS THIS ZEXCS!!!

I've actually read the translation of the first novel, so here are my thoughts:

The first volume contains exactly enough content for three episodes. We get backstories for Taito, Himea, Gekkou, Mirai, Hinata, and the relationships among them, as well as stuff about the school and the factions surrounding it. Most of that comes from flashbacks and monologues, so it's rather dense to go through, and if adapted exactly we won't get to the battle until the third episode.

Yet, all of that backstory is essential to getting a feel for the characters and the conflict, so Zexcs cutting all of that out makes the story seem worse than standard shonen action! So far, this show is a pretty terrible adaptation, and I can only suggest that watchers who haven't done so already go read the first volume to figure out what's going on.

That conclusion is a non sequitur.

(I've read the novels as well)

A few things-

1. Remember the title of the 2 episodes? '900 Seconds After School'. Everything in the first 2 episodes (other than the school scenes and the flashbacks) happened within 900 seconds. Of course things seem rush.

2. Having said that, I think you guys are being too harsh on ZEXCS. The author somehow manged to be just as 'rushed' with the novel. The first volume was just a series of battles, flashbacks, oh-shi* moments weaved together. Even Hinata, who Himea was terrified of, was disposed of rather abruptly (like the anime). It's doubly bad as he was hyped up in the first half of the novel as a super powerful bad dude who (censored).

I hate to say this, but ZEXCS has managed to stay very true to the source material this time(in this case, not a good thing).

But Himea is cute, and that's all I care.

ep2: lolwut? what the hell was that? what did I just see? -- ep1, while not being "godly" by any means, was much better than this... thing.

You're skirting the issue. May I take it to assume this is your way of saying you really haven't read it?

While '900 Seconds of After School Time' are indeed the titles of the first two episodes, and the entirety of Volume 1 while we're at it, that should by no means be used to justify cramming an entire volume into two episodes. Only people looking for an excuse to justify butchering those episodes in the way that they did would fall back on such logic.

And if that's really ZEXCS' reasoning, it's not logical or anything of the sort. It's just pathetic.

You say that ZEXCS' treatment of Itsu-Ten is near spot on with Kagami's writing? Nonsense. ZEXCS hacked off an entire chapter of Volume 1, specifically Gekkou, Hinata, and Mirai's background stories just to fit the rest into two extremely squeezed episodes. Kagami avoided such a pitfall of disappointment by weaving the various battles, flashbacks and other events in a far more spread out and appealing manner.

That aside, with respect to Hinata, I wouldn't say Kagami really made him out to be the "super-powerful bad dude" you make him out to be. Sure he was evil and had otherworldly powers at his disposal, but from the very beginning we knew that he was a demon worshiper, and more specifically that he sought to undo Bhalskra's seal. Hinata had barely made his appearance before we're made aware of this mysterious Bhalskra and that he must have tremendous power in order for Hinata to be after him.

Bearing this in mind, it's really not all that surprising that Hinata was taken care of so early on. He never set the stage as something of a big-time antagonist to begin with.

900 seconds is 15 minutes. The title of the two episodes and the first novel refers to Taito's reset time, not the span of the events, which last into the night. The battle with Hinata lasts less than 15 minutes, but there was also an earlier fight that the anime skipped which delayed Taito from meeting Himea for quite a while.

Yeah, and Gekkou and Mirai did not just show up to attack Himea to lure out Hinata, there were other circumstances that forced him to act.
