I'll drink to that ^^
I once liked HipHop, but I never really got a huge kick out of it like I do with Metal. The Berzerker are my favourite band and that's about as far away from Hip Hop as you can get...

I do listen to a little bit of hip hop (that's assuming Ginuwine, 112 count as hip hop..) some songs I do like. Darn 112 - Anywhere.. clean thoughts.. clean thoughts..

I'm not much into hip hop although I do like a few hip hop bands, but mostly french ones so most of you wouldn't know them.
Otherwise I'm more a rock, indie, pop, new wave type of person. Although I do like drum'n'bass and jungle a lot for dancing purpose (especially when good MCs are playing live) or when the mood is in me.

I totally agree with you. That's why I only like the serious songs of eminem. When he sings stupid songs like "Without me, The Real Slim Shady,.." I hate them so much. But, when he sings serious songs like "The way I am, Lose Yourself,..." , now thats another story

I always listen to hip-hop. My mini-disk is full with around 70 hip hop songs.
My favorite singers are Eminem and DMX. G-UNIT & 50 Cent aren't bad (I don't really like their lyrics : Gangsta Shit).
I just knew about 2 new singers: Young Guns and Twista. Young Guns are not bad but Twista is not really my type.

oh and also listen to R&B but rarley. So I dont know much about the singers except for R Kelly and some more

many rock songs have a deeper meanin though, and they arent really that loud. Hard metal though is, i must admit.

And eminem only sings those songs to get cause they are catchy and pull people into his CD.

This is what I say about rap -

Rappers are a bunch of whiners

This is what I say about rock -

Rockers rot in their pool of self pity

Both like to fight. Both need to learn when to shut up.

That said, I hate mainstream rap - except Missy. She's my hip hop idol.

Here's my "r&b/hiphop/rap" Must listen to list (some for the beats, some for the lyrics, some is just need to listen) (I'm not at home, so I might get the artists/songs mixed up )

Jin - Learn Chinese
Jagged Edge - walked outta heaven
Tyrese - How you gonna act like that
Avant - Read your mind
Mya - Fallen
ATL - Callin all girls
Fabolous feat. Ashanti - Into You
Tupac feat biggie smalls -
(Artist's name escapes me now) - She is
B2K - What a Girl wants
Baby Bash - Suga Suga
Tupac - Runnin' (Dying to live)
Cassidy feat. R. Kelly - Hotel
Twista - Slow Jamz
112 - Right here for you
DMX - Get it on the floor
B2K - Everything

As I've said before, the only rap I really like is Del the the Funky Homosapien and old school Sir Mix-a-Lot.

I hate R&B with a passion though (I used to like it) but every single song sounds the same. And they all feature stupid lyrics like "I wanna lick you head to toe BABAAAAAAY!" Most rap music is just as bad, but there are definitely exceptions in rap. But I think I hate both those types of music most of the time because they seem to always come down to "Money, Bitches, and Guns" It gets old.

Really? Listen to my play list It's totally the opposite from what you define the genera to be. That's just a Stereotype, I could stereotype other generas like that too they're not true though,

Yeah, re-reading my post I guess I am stereotyping a lot more than I intended to.

I havn't listened to very many new things of those genre's since the early nineties. But at one point it was getting pretty stale and one dimensional, at least in the mainstream. I should probably shut up about it until I give it another chance.

Now I'm more into music with political or social commentary, which is why I like Deltron 3030 by Del the Funky Homosapien. He raps a lot about a post- apocalyptic future controlled by big business, something that's just really different and original. You can definitely tell he's an anime fan by some of the lyrics.

I still need to check out some stuff Prince of Chronics recommended also a while back.

Hieroglyphics! del is part of that group... they are nice group.. and they dropped an album last year called Full Circle... you can check their previous album called Third Eye Vision... also part of Hiero... Souls of Mischief.... another good group... check the earlier stuff from the early 90's.... good stuff there...

and FinFangFoom... if you want political/social commentary... I recommend either Jeru the Damaja (Wrath of the Math, Sun Rises in the East) or Immortal Technique (Revolutionary Vol.1 and Vol.2)... both of them have some good messages... though they may be a bit more aggresive than Del...

Cool, I need to check all those out. I have a friend who used to spin and he'd do some hip-hop, one of his favorites was Jeru the Damaja. I never really listened to him much, so I never realized what kind of message he had. But I'll give it a shot, I had totally forgotten about him. Thanks

And, what about Tribe Called Quest? That was the other group my friend was really into, would they fit that mold also?

hip hop is where it's at for clubbin' and dancin'... people who don't like hip hop are usually people who don't know how to dance or are afraid to dance. lol

just playin'...

Figure this out for me... Call a girl a hoe and she will give u the biggest beatdown of your life but take that same girl on a dance floor with Ludicrous singin' to "You's a hoe" and they'll shake their ass like the best paid stripper in town...

This only reinforces my opinion that all girls are crazy...

it's all about the commercialism of hiphop these days... since it's the "pop" music for the past couple of years... youths who listen to the "hiphop" on mtv/muchmusic/bet will prolly get the idea that girls like to be called "hoes/bitches" or that sportin' diamond chains and basketball jerseys are the norm... i personally think that it's demeaning to women to be called such derogatory labels... women who like those labels or dress like the women in "hiphop" music videos deserve to be called those names cuz they are idiots.... artists like Ludacris make it seem ok when it really isn't... blame the labels, "artists" and a&r's who promote that type of ignorance.....

FinFangFoom --> Tribe is alright... though I personally don't think their stuff is about social commentary though they may make the odd track that does so... I don't listen to them because I hate Q-Tip's voice... but they are a solid group to most people... just for good/fun vibes I guess....
