Experience in playing Forum-based RPGs

Been doing this recently, but it's a problem in the sense that most players either leave or aren't available due to timezones.

I play here currently.

I used to play at the Macross RPG community.

I've found that the main problem with play-by-post games is the Game Master.
If the campaign isn't interesting or appealing then players will rarely stick around.
Also, game resolution needs to be conducted via online random dice-rolling in order for it to be really fun.

vBulletin has a plug-in for boards which are running version 3.8.3 or older, but the new 4x boards are using php5.3 or higher and thus a new dice-roller is needed (I know because I'm currently working on one for my own forum).

There are many play-by-post websites online for just about any type of RPG.
Most are D20 or homebrew based RPGs.

You may wish to check out this place if you enjoy fantasy RPG.
EnWorld.

Hope this post helps.

Thanks mate.

But I kinda like multiverse RPGs where you can use characters based on franchises/properties.
