Hmm. This whole "my wife" thing reminds me of Fortune Arterial and Kanade's constant "my wife" remarks about her own sister.

Which is always a joke, right?

Except for Sae Nakata, lately I've been going after girls with weaponry... maybe I really am M after all

I don't think they have anything against it, but don't expect it to be a central element of the story either.

100% opposed to have any guys in a show is ridiculous, I agree. But I do hope you realize many of those people are not doing so because they're yuri fans, they're just hardcore fans who don't want their potential waifu spoiled by anyone....men or women.

Err..what come on. What exactly is tiresome and offtopic about story/character speculation of an upcoming show, and discussion about the company producing it? If animesuki has a strict anti-homosexuality policy, put it in a sticky.

Yes but to get all that from just 5 seconds of a promotional video?

Discussions involving Yuri and the likes tend result in some rather zealous response from both parties. It's nice to think that we can all just get along but one-two pages ago people were tearing apart a single line from survey done by a character we had never seen in 'action' before!

A single line!

I have never seen such vicious combat since the days of Vietnam- I mean, [Nanoha]

Hope not.

There has been SO much hype involving this, especially about its supposed all-star casts among the production team...

I think there will be a lot of upset fans if this turns out to be textbook mahou shoujo. Though personally I'm not quite sure how I'd feel.

I honestly don't know what you are trying to get at. Speculation is speculation...internet forums wouldn't exist otherwise. I doubt people would get upset if someone speculated that they'll be fighting evil bear calvary in the show. Yet one mention of the evil "y" word, we get some dude piling on paragraphs worth of "it won't happen" and an upset mod threatening to delete on-topic posts?

It is, but you were kind putting all the blame on one specific group of people.

At its core, it's no different than the usual shipping wars but some people want to make it more than what it really is. Oh and I am aware of AS's history with Nanoha (and a few others), but does that mean every thread has to be that way eh?

Changes is a good thing and maybe this Madoka thread can be a leader in progressing to a better and more peaceful future.....? lol probably not Haters gonna hate.

even with all star cast there is chance that they still make generic mohou shojo. they probably have couple of twist, deep character, awesome music, scenery porn etc.

but they still have the formula intact, go to school, meet friend, defeat monster etc

but really so far what i see it seem pretty generic

again how know what will shinbo and shaft will make consider they reputation

Yea but the "problem" is that they have greatly emphasized the importance of keeping the plot under wraps until airing, due to it being an original series, as a big surprise for all the fans. Essentially rendering all of the PVs so far meaningless as far as plot speculation is concerned.

So that's the one hook that's really keeping people guessing and hoping for more than just the average magical girl show. Whether it all turns out to be a big trolling event...or a reverse trolling event.....it's all part of marketing I guess and it's working very well.

there is one bid problem with this Technic. is much harder to grabs outside audience other than die hard otaku as most of them will think generic show.

casual audience tend to not bother people behind the scene. so that only left with the pv which honestly bit disappointment other than cute character and nice music.

that probably explain why only 2ch chart that the show have high ranking

whether this will be success or not only time will tell

Yes. From December 23 to December 26 you could download a PC/mobile wallpaper.

On December 28 they added the voting section (according to the news).

Doesn't sound like a joke to me
Besides, it's not incest if it's between two sisters, so there's no problem there

I'm certainly not 100% opposed to any guys. I'm just against pathetic, useless dumbos, without which the story would've worked just as well. Example here being Muneguy from Samurai Girls, he was just a waste of air
Examples for decent guys I've got nothing against would be Rito from To Love-Ru or Tomoki from Sora no Otoshimono (besides, he can turn into Tomoko! Yay! )

That's all wrong.

The sole reason for this anime being hyped was due to staffs. It was hyped since it was Shinbo + Shaft's first original project. It was hyped due to Urobuchi + Kajiura Yuki + Ume-sensei's twisted combo. A lot of people actually disappointed after the showing of character design and PV, and I was actually surprised that Madoka is still having good expectations in 2ch.

Staff combination and production circumstance is currently the only reason this series is getting so much attention /period

Summary from Megami interview and staff comments
  • It was Shinbo who put "Mahou Shoujo" into the title, he feel it would become something else that is not strictly magical girl without it. He want to put Madoka Magica into a "magical girl" category.
  • Unlike any previous Gekidan Inukare participation on OP/ED or small clips, they're in charge of visual art designs this time. Their position is to connect director Shinbo's style, Ume-sensei's characters and Urobuchi-san's scripts together.
  • The series is 12-episodes, if possible, director Shinbo want you to watch it again one more time after the series has ended, it would become clear why characters act in the way they did.
  • Importance is put on to respect Urobuchi-san's scripts as much as possible, there's no major change to his script except for a little time adjustment. At the point of interview, all editing until episodes 3 are done.
  • Shaft recruits and set up a new CG production management position for Madoka, main highlight of CG works in this series is Gekidan Inukare's scenes in the show.
  • Kashiwada Shinichiro (Shigofumi, Index 1, Railgun) is in charge of production supporting from Aniplex's side; animation producer from Shaft's side is Iwaki Tadao (line producer of Arakawa Under The Bridge 2).
  • Yuuki Aoi "Madoka is fluffy cute! She is like a strawberry daifuku!"

Summary of interview with Kalafina (Wakana, Keiko, Hikaru)
  • Magia meaning is "magic" but also has "power of believing in someone" as its main theme. Magic that is power to create a miracle. A strength that come from "wish."
  • Keiko says she repeat the bridge part as practice until she become used to its unique rhythm. Wakana says since the lyric is powerful, the expression of "weakness and gentleness within the strength" is hard to sing.
  • "What pop up in your mind when talking about magical girls?" Wakana "Kiki's Delivery Service and Akazukin Chacha" Keiko "Himitsu no Akko-chan" Hikaru "Card Capture Sakura"

Summary of interview ClariS (Kurara, Alice)
  • Connect's main theme is "adventure, comrade, bond and dreams."
  • The song is "cool" in an opposite direction from their debut song, Irony.
  • "What pop up in your mind when talking about magical girls?" Kurara "Hoshikuzu Witch Meruru" Alice "Not magical girls, but Disney shows like Cinderella, Enchanted and Little Mermaid. I adore princess when I was a child."

With him saying that,I will be disapointed if all we get is a standard mahou shoujo show.

This still doesn't sound like a show written by Urobuchi. If it weren't for Shinbou's comment, I'd start thinking it's a "regular" magical girl anime after all

Personally, I wouldn't mind that.

When Gonzo collapsed, there were a lot of rumour that staffs from Gonzo, especially 3D animation department, came to Shaft. I'm much anticipating how Inukare will use these potential techniques into much creative and unique animation.

It depends on how you defines "generic," I think. His exact words are:
Quote:
It was me who is particular about "magical girl" in the title. I feel the show would lose a generic-feeling without it, and if we lose that generic, it could become anything else altogether. I want make a show that could be put in a "magical girl" category.
Few more points I've missed:
  • "Witch" (the enemy) will also use some sort of weapon.
  • Gekidan Inukare seems to be in charge of transformation scene?

No they don't. Ex-GONZO 3D staffs are now Sanzigen. Searching for their CG production manager name only come up with Arakawa Under The Bridge 2's as production manager. He describes his position as "3D-related materials management."

^ Huh. It seems like I missed quite of an information. I guess rumours are rumours.

Thanks for providing the original text. So, what he is saying is that we can actually expect more of something that isn't on the general line of what we know as 'mahou shoujo'. This only increases my curiosity on Urobuchi's storyboard and script. After all, that was the basic template for their entire work and if Shinbou felt the need to state 'Mahou Shoujo' just to balance out those non-generic-magical girl genre elments, that's something.
