Yep there's definitely fun in it. The story is simple but quite well paced, a good mix of long lost love blah blah and one-on-one combat.
It's mainly let down by terrible production values, and that's a real shame coming from Madhouse, who normally make a much bigger effort. I agree that the BGM is horrendous and incredibly intrusive, but also the character designs and animation generally are sub par. Not a show stopper, but it's more than enough to stop me enthusing about the show... and I've always enjoyed Marvel superheroes. |

Thought they had a solid first episode. Sure the production values aren't up there which is too bad, but handled Wolverine pretty well. Got to charge and cut down quite a few guys and thank god for his healing ability with those hits he was taking from the old guy.

I enjoyed the episode, they kept Logan's personality and powers and he was still kicking butt as always. |

I was a little surpised at the VA choice for Wolverine, as I am used to hearing him with a scruffy voice. However, as the episode when on, the epicness of the VA (Koyama Rikiya) overcame my uneasiness, and he is awesome as ever.
The action and pacing of the first episode did keep me on the edge of my seat, and it is definitely better than Iron Man's first episode. I will follow this series, and hopefully finish up Iron Man some day.

Not much of a Marvel reader, I vaguely know the history of Wolverine, but this series has my attention. I couldn't watch the Iron Man anime, it looked ridiculous. This series feels more like anime and not some Western/anime mesh, and the action scenes impressed me. Also, Wolverine looks bad ass.

The story is loosely based on the 4 part comic mini series of Wolverine going to Japan. He mentions in the comic he was a punk kid going to Japan, it was done by Frank Miller and Chris Claremont. Here in the anime instead of an evil ninja leader, Mariko's father is a Yakuza leader and is engaged to an evil gang leader.
If people are still wondering. Then this is the famous cover of that comic where the lines "I’m Wolverine. I’m the best there is at what I do. But what I do isn’t very nice." came from. Funny though in the opening and ending anime it hints Omega-Red at the OP and Logan fighting Sabertooth in the ending. Not sure if it's all flashbacks. Yes Iam a comic geek and a Mervel/DC fan as well. Also Mariko is hotter in the anime version EDIT: Long time no anime after Ironman. This one I'll watch. Also thanks to duckroll for having more info. Can we expect Silver Samurai?

I thought this episode was rather boring. I generally like Wolverine (pretty much the only Marvel superhero I like, the rest of Marvel is forgettable), but the character designs were rather bland (especially Logan) and the battles not so interesting.

I had two thoughts before watching Wolverine . Will It live up to the movie / Will the Character Designs be stuffy and restricted as Iron Man Well I like the Character Deigns of Wolverine its a delicate mix between Bishonen and Jackman . The Opening sequence wasn't exactly breathtaking but none the less satisfying . The action Sequences are quite spectacular featuring the right amount of grit and gore . It would be really nice if the seiyu learnt correct pronunciation of names . The word Logan almost felt like noise in through out this episode . The All Important Question How Does the anime compare to the movie . It Fall Short , as the mediums/packagings are quite different episodic/movie . But as a stand alone a nice anime to watch . Also it quite sweet how they are tweaking Wolverine storyline to match animeverse . The plot seems intriguing . As its the first episode lets say looks interesting . Definitely a must watch anime this Season ..

Not only are they using some of the back story, but they're adapting an actual story into the anime. Main difference I see so far is that, rather than Shingen poisoning Logan's tea, Logan got injected with poison via a dart.

Damn! This is ADRENALIN FUELED CARNAGE! The voice actor for wolverine is top class! Those howls or RAGE during the action are definitely epic. That opening action scene were he is blasted to oblivion, then started regenerating was epic, talk about super regeneration. I didnt think it was that fast but hey this is wolverine were talking about!
Dunno about the story, though the series does seem to have some appeal, if not for the story ill watch this just for the pure adrenalin rage!
