2) It MAY be that bitcomet is asking for too many name requests at once or too many connections at once and your network DNS servers thinks they are being DDOS'd. There are a number of business routers on the market that automatically shut down connectivity from computers running unthrottled torrents and ID them as possible DDOS bots.
Several things to try:
1) I don't use bitcomet but I assume it has knobs so you can throttle down the number of connections and requests.
2) try a different client and see what happens.
It may also be that your modem/router drops a lot and you only notice it with persistent connections. I have had a few cards and routers I've found that were terrible with persistent connections because they kept dropping and renegotiating their connection.
Swapping out for a different brand to test might be instructive. Some home-use routers are simply don't have the specs to handle torrents. One thing to note with routers is that there *is* some correlation between how much you pay and how robust the router is. More expensive routers can handle more connections, have bigger buffers, more dynamic memory, etc. But check the specs to be sure obviously.
