My God, that cast - how do you compile a literal Hall-of-Fame seiyuu list (and A-list director) for such a lightweight premise?

Mind you, I liked the episode - it was pleasant, cute, and sometimes funny. But the main reason for watching seems to be the chance to see almost a dozen legendary seiyuu acting very silly.

Well, we'll have to see where the story goes since presumably the manga had more content than this when the anime was greenlighted. I haven't read this manga itself, but FlipFlops has a history of squeezing heartwarming drama into lightweight stories. Again, no idea if that's actually going to happen here though.

Acting very silly is a proud achievement! Comedy takes just as much work as drama. I'd be willing to argue more.

By no means am I arguing that comedy is easy, trust me. It just doesn't seem like this story is trying to do anything especially challenging. Maybe that's what all those seiyuu legends liked about it - I'm sure this is a fun gig for them.

First episode didn't click for me, although I'm going to watch a few more since it reminds me of Ika Musume (not in content, but in the fact that I didn't care much for Ika Musume at first, but warmed up to it later). And the Sega fanboy in me is intrigued by the Dreamcast, Game Gear, and Megadrive cameos (another point that reminds me of Ika Musume). Surely a Saturn has to show up at some point!

I think that's the point. That's what yaoyorozu means in the title, it refers to the myriad, uncountable gods that supposedly exist in Shinto.

I'm not familiar with Touhou but this is filled with lighthearted fun and cuteness - the kind of cuteness that I like, so I'm sold!

Will follow this weekly, I hope we'll get to know the characters better, what's with such a huge cast.

It does indeed remind me of the Touhou OVA and the art style of the Touhou doujin and manga.

But still not enough to "sell" me into following it at the moment.

Maybe after the season is over I will at some point though.

Reminds me of FLIPFLOP's Touhou doujin series, "Residents of a Touhou Town".
So basically Suika is now a goddess (she was a shrine maiden before), and Reimu and Alice is fighting over her. In this episode, Hina is coming to visit the town.

Unfortunately, Shamo doesn't spin...

After watching the censored version I think my sight got worse. Too many yellow beams.

Pink twin tails has officially gotten me into this show.

I don't understand how this is under the radar.

Mayumemo 02 - Mayu in the Country of Trash

It would be a rare sight indeed for an anime season to go by without at least one sakura viewing festival. And only in this show would Mayu be both the cause and solution to it almost not happening. Yoshino was also introduced. She's a sweet girl, compared to the other local gods we've seen. The best parts of the show are Mayu and Shamo bouncing sarcasm off each other - they're truly equal forces. The boss also seems to be getting his own subplot.

I kinda want to read the manga-within-a-show that showed up at the end. Thankfully, next week looks to have everyone else producing it. Add +1 human to the cast.

Poor Yoshino her first big task and Mayu screws it up. Luckily she fixes the problem she caused.

Episode 2 was definitely a lot more feel-good than episode 1, with a couple of less gags. I liked it much better, to be honest. Also, Haruka Tomatsu's voice keeps growing on me every episode.

I definitely enjoyed the boss's reappearance. I'm glad they intended to show him more than once, and I hope he shows up more often.

I didn't think I'd really grow this fond of it after episode 1, but I really liked episode 2.

Hated episode 2. Cheap drama, annoying one-note characters. It wouldn't be quite so bad if there wasn't the implication that this herd of pointless characters is going to be following them around all the time no matter what they do. While I don't mind having a huge cast, it could stand to do with some trimming from story to story. Just because a character exists doesn't mean they need to be in every episode.

I'm kind of enjoying this so far, while there's nothing that really stands out about it, it's still a nice diversion. There's nothing wrong with a bit of good simple fun.
