I try not to do it very often, but I have been known to have "Netflix Streaming Syndrome" when it comes to anime from time to time.

Whenever I start watching a series that has already finished airing, I generally watch the first three episodes at once, and then I take a break. After that, I'll watch 2-3 episodes at a time until I get to about the last 1/4 of the show where I just marathon it non-stop.

There have been some notable examples where I have watched an entire series in one day though. I started and finished Joshiraku all in day, but that only happens on rare occasions.

If it's a finished anime, I usually download a bunch of episodes and binge on them. If it's an airing one, I download the latest episodes from the week of all the anime I watch in the season and watch them together.

An advantage of cramming is that.
A disadvantage of cramming is that you are more likely to forget about the whole series later, since you have watched it all in the time span of a few days.

Most series with an overarching narrative, tempo and structure really gain by being viewed all at once. Slower episodes that would have seemed boring now appear as character /world, and dramatic peaks benefit much from the immediate buildup. Most of all it allows the show to really pull you in inside its world and the story it's trying to tell, where an episode a week can really kill the immersion.

Series that are episodic in nature (like comedy, ecchi, detective, etc) on the other hand usually only have one or two gimmicks at most, and that can be really repetitive if you watch all at once. An episode a week keeps them fresher.

That what happened during the first few years of me having access to anime. Dvd drive overheat occassionally. But nowadays I am already up to date and became choosy in anime that I watch.

Once upon a time
there's a boy who collects anime episode's so he can watch later
but he was so focused in study that he had no time watching it
so the collected episodes piles up so many
that the boy trembles from excitement just by thinking of watching it all for summer
then his fairy ultra mother snoop in his works
"aha what a naughty kid you are" she said
and with her fairy beautiful fingers

she deleted my FUCKING animes!

I hear you. I also lost my first collections not due to outside interference but due to failing hardware. Lesson learned is invest in good brand and backup regularly. I also add security so no one may find them.
