Karen Senki

CR announced this news earlier today that they will be streaming the series:
http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-new...eekend-atlanta

According to the brief summary:
Quote:
Karen Senki is the second CG animated series co-developed by Ohji Hiroi and Fujishima after Sakura Wars. In the post-apocalyptic aftermath of a war between machines and their creators, machines rule while humans exist in a state of servitude. Titular character Karen leads Resistance Group 11, an eclectic group of humans who find themselves fighting for their lives as they are hunted by the robots in each episode. Is this the end of humanity? Are they fighting a losing battle?

Through Karen, we delve into a struggle between right and wrong, between indifference and love that explores some of the deepest questions about humanity. What is the difference between a thinking machine and a human being? What is a soul?
Apparently, it will be a sci-fi action adventure series from Ohji Hiroi and Kosuke Fujishima who were previously involved with Sakura Wars. It will have 3G animation.

Okay ... watched ep 1 (it is 10-11 minutes long or so), and despite the odd'ish semi jerky cgi I kinda ... liked it. Go figure. :\

Hmm ... well, anyhoo - I will give the next few eps a try.

Yeah, the animation is different but not awful, and while bits of it struck me that they'd make a really killer video game I thought I want to watch at least a bit more to see where it's going.

Although this scene reminded me of a certain Futurama episode's informational video:-

First thing I noticed was the CG animation.
The robots looked fine, but the human characters looked unnatural.
The action was nice though & funny at times.
It's short, not totally crappy with lots of action, but not my thing.
Skipping this.

3d was not as good as in Arpeggio but I like the action scenes and MC. As long as I have time for this I will be watching.

The 3D animation is a bit distracting but I think I got used to it by the end of the episode. It was actually alright since I like the action so far and the setting. It also had a slightly mature mood to it as well and I'm curious to see how the characters deal with their conflicts.

The animation was a bit unusual, but yeah did get used to it after a short while. Seems like it could be an interesting show to keep an eye on.

It was like it switched between random scenes and matrix 1 fighting.
It was strange... but for 10 minutes it's more than enough to be entertaining. xD

The action scenes are very Matrix-y. Which was overused at one time, but honestly seems fresh and exciting to me now.

The characters aren't that well-defined yet, but show some promise at least.

Ep 02

Yeah ... gotta agree with Dop. This series' futuristic dystopic setting is kinda interesting so far. Again, nothing earth shattering, but still - pretty good.

I think I will tentatively follow this one.

I was thinking the same thing, actually. This is pretty good over all and am enjoying it thus far. I wonder how much they will be able to do details wise in terms of world building, though...I could see it possibly being developed quite a bit.

Anyone else surprised when she "summoned" Touka or whatever she didin the interogation room?

I believe they showed us her summoning Touka once before in the first episode, and we saw her summon some kind of other thing when she was being chased on her bike. I do have to wonder why she waited to do so. Perhaps certain kinds of conditions need to be meet, or she just needed to regain her strength. Or maybe she was also just using this opportunity to gather information as well. Seeing what the machines might want from her before making her break.
