I am beginning to wonder why I still watch this show. Aichi losing over and over again was bad enough 15 episodes ago, but we are now on episode 32. It is more than enough episodes for him to develop and at least win some when it counts.

Well, I don't know where this series is headed towards anymore. It's quite a bold move to have a series based on the main character losing continuously, and the results are quite depressing.

He does win some when it counts. Did you miss the previous tournament?

These are the big bad villains we're talking about here so it's only natural they're made to look really impressive.

True, he did win twice in the regional tournament, but he quickly regressed back to his old losing ways in this tournament. His first loss was to a non-special team. His total victories after 32 episodes can be counted with just 1 hand. His losses, however, would need both hands to count them.

They try to make the series uplifting with the lighting and upbeat music, but the story itself is quite depressing. Aichi suffers from low self-esteem, and on top of that, does not overcome his weaknesses and continues to accept that he is weak.

There is no passion and confidence to do better. There is no burning desire to overcome any difficulties at any cost. As a main character, it is hard to sympathize with him. You just feel sorry for him and accept that he is weak.

He lost in the nationals because they're meant for the best players in the nation and he's still a fairly new player. They're taking a semi-realistic approach here.

With that said, Ren rubbing it in his face like that is a clear indicator that he'll be manning up after a brief arc where he loses his confidence. It's just how shounen works.

And yes, i think it's really good to see a "children" anime who is realistic from this view.
Not bullshit with nakama power. XD

LOL Aichi lost 5 times in a row to the Casear girl. He's really terrible. His deck is a pretty lean.

New OP, kinda sucks imo

I could be wrong but it seems to follow the "hero's journey" narrative. Effectively the way it goes, the hero needs to fail, then he needs to find a master, etc

lol caesar leader losing to Kai. At least he's quite open-minded about losing and learning from it.

I like how they emphasize how their chance of winning with a random deck is low to nonexistent.

so the manager lets them borrow his cards to make a new deck. Aichi gets to use High Dog breeder Akane, which superior call Pongal. Pongal's counter blast which draws soul Saviour Dragon. Not sure if it's a random draw or he gets to pick it. If Aichi gets to pick then it's pretty OP. If not then it's a pretty good combo to draw an extra card. The only thing is that the manager is letting him borrow the cards so not sure if we're going to see Aichi use this combo later, unless he somehow gets these cards or the manager gives it to him.

Was hoping for some more swimsuit Misaki action Aichi didn't even win against that Casear girl O.o

Misaki swimsuit = Win.
New card = Win
Episode 35 = Win + Win = Full of Win

That Caeser girl is a national tournament finalist. He would have lost if they finished the fight, so it was smart of them to have Morikawa interrupt in order to not cheapen Aichi's power-up.

I kinda wonder about his power-up. His new strategy is to lose half his HP in the first turn?

His power up was his new deck not his strategy.

And if he can make the other guy lose half his HP too then its fine really.

Kai's fight with the king of underground fights was pretty predictable once they explain how Barri could guard the attack.

Looks like next episode is about another tournament in card capital. I wonder if they will make a new team if one of the 4 characters don't make it. Aichi's teacher, i mean ninja master is joining again so I wonder if he's going to fight Aichi again.

It looks like the manager gave/let Aichi borrow the cards from camp, Pongal. Otherwise he opened a booster pack and got it there.

Misaki's Red Eye kinda looks like Amaterasu. Kamui vs Emi was kinda predictable, Aichi invited Emi to go watch the tournament but she said she got something to do.

I think Aichi and Miwa fight is going to be epic. Aichi saw the 2 soul savior dragons in his vision, I wonder how that is going to be implemented in the fight. Maybe double power-ups? but doesn't the soul blast cost 5 cards? the green dragon might be some other dragon.

Kamui's antics were funny though. Especially the double draw at the end... win.
