Pretty tense episode. It felt kinda like a cat and mouse game. Atui's awesome though. Kuon scared me slightly when her eyes went blank.
And also Kokopo....such a loyal bird. I guess that cliffhanger sets up for the next episode. Should be interesting to see how it plays out.

Kuon really could just nuke a country if she wanted. Maybe she should go back and get Haku then.
It's not looking good. Oshutoru was a bit better than Vurai in the past. But their conditions going into this fight couldn't be more different. Oshutoru is drained from escaping, the torture, and injuries. Vurai has been chilling the whole night waiting for this....this is bad.

Well, I guess that confirms at least one of the culprits for poisoning Anju, if not the mastermind behind it. Raikou ordered his troops to kill Anju in the pursuit, so there is no question there. He was also the most suspicious one in the previous episodes because he tried to twist the situation around to accuse Oshutoru. Now, the only question that remains is that if he acted alone or with someone else.
Other than that, Kuon finally shows that she does have some powers from her dad. Also, by the looks of things, those powers are way stronger than even Vurai, which is not surprising since this powers are from a fake mask. Which reminds me, why is the title called the "False Faces (Masks)"? I remember that someone mentioned that it did not have to do with the 3 masks of Yamato's generals. Unless it will be revealed at a later episode, I still don't have a clue what it could refer to if it is not referring to those fake masks.

Some anime or game you don't understand it's namesake until the very last episode, it could be the case here too. I like how Haku, Nekone, and the Oni twins were planning to burn the mansion down hahahaha, a shame they didn't.

Hmm... OK. Thanks. I'll wait to see if this leads to anything. 2 episodes to go. Let's see if they can end it in a bang. I'm pretty sure there will eventually be a Kuon versus Vurai battle at some point. Oh yeah. Doesn't Haku have a claim to the throne as well, since he is the brother of the emperor?

Honoka can attest to it. They'd also just have to open their eyes as Haku and Mito are both missing two distinctive features every other character in the show (bar Hakuorou) has.

All that they said last week as that they'd be noticed if they used magic to move about. Who cares if they notice it? You are running away! There's no evidence anyone else there can use that kind of transportation magic, they won't catch up to them. The important thing is getting out of the capital. Even if it was a barrier limiting movement entirely, there's no telling that they have that set around the entire capital. The palace? Sure, that's a place you'd have defenses set. But the entirety of it? That's too much territory to lock down so easily, especially if they weren't expecting any attack or teleportation magic to be used.

While I'd normally say that's a good thing, in this case, I'm going to have to say it's not because it's probably because this entire plotline is a muddled mess. There's no clear focus at all on an end-goal for the characters in sight.
I'm honestly not really enjoying this show. I'm only watching out of obligation because I liked the first series. I'm kinda curious about how it will all end, since I haven't played the game, but aside from Kuon, I'm literally not invested in a single one of the characters that weren't from the first series. They're all just archetypes of tropes, and unfortunately lack the depth of personality of characters from Uta 1.

I loves the game so much, but I didn't enjoy it that much as the anime diverge more and more from the game. I used to expect it to have it's own theme, but now I can't see any except anti-thesis of the game plot.
Now I'm only watching to see how does it turn out. If somebody find the overall theme of the anime story please point it out so I can enjoy it more. |
