- Ram is good.
- The villagers aren't wrong when they blame Emilia for what's happening. - The damage Felis received from that explosion must have been a lot consider that she he couldn't use any of her his clothes. - "Stand down villain", oh yeah Emilia is the kind of person that gives those lines. I suppose one of the reasons this happened is because most people were thinking "there is no way Subaru could die at this point". Not sure what's going to happen though. It could be a fake out. It could end up with episode 24 being a fast forwarded repeat of the last several episodes. It could be a partial reset. Or it could be... That's really interesting. |

I knew things wouldn't end so smoothly. Why Subaru getting taken over was not what I expected it also wasn't significantly beyond my expectations. Curious though how this arc will get resolved. Was the last scene a misdirection or is Subaru getting sent back all over again?

Yeah, regardless if Emilia was their goal she is no way responsible for their actions. She never even met these crazy people her life and did what she could to safeguard the villagers. |

Only the first, second and Subaru can do Betelguese so good. The rest doesn't leave much of an impression.
And yeah, Subaru's VA did an absolute great job, not just in this episode, but throughout the series. Must have spent a lot of time in the studio repeating the lines until they get it right. |

As for why Betelgeuse was able to take over Subaru's body: I am assuming it was not because of compatibility, or it would be difficult for Subaru to escape. My assumption is it has to do with the fact that Subaru took the gospel. Recall Felis and Mimi's fears about those who read the book becoming cultists? Back then, we dismissed the fears as superstition, but perhaps the fears are not quite so unfounded after all. |

After everything Subaru went through to get this far, will it all have been for nothing? God dammit, I really hope he lives through this. He made it too far to fail now.
Also, am I actually the only one who sees something completely different from a consciousness transfer? To me it looks more like all these 'fingers' literally act as the archbishop's limbs. So it's not so much a consciousness transfer as it is assimilation. Think of the six paths of pain. Kinda like that. Rather than the body being inhabited by the soul, it is the soul that claims ownership of the body. I.E. the central consciousness is elsewhere, although I do not know whether or not it is corporeal. |

That ending just continues the long string of excellent episode closures by White Fox. That was just brilliantly done.
Also really Felis? He's in pretty much a burlap sack or its equivalent and still looks cute. Kinda surprised how well Julius and Subaru get along now that they've patched things up. If one of their genders was reversed that line about the thing he has left to say at the end there can be taken in the wrong way. Actually, they're so buddy buddy it probably still can be! If Subaru has actually been killed off as implied at the end of this episode though, the save point has gotta have been moved. Even assuming the last episode is an extended one, there's just no time to go over all that alliance formation and whale stuff again with so little time left. Assuming a death, Return by Death can help with the hidden fingers and cultists that were lurking in the carriages and with the merchants, but that still leaves the problem of how to kill Betelgeuse who just seems to be body hopping like mad... the only thing I can think of is what he's resorted to time and time again so far... start talking about Return by Death. You're trying to possess my body? You love the witch? Say hello to Satella. She's a really really scary yandere who strokes me in inappropriate places when I try to talk about her. What do you think's gonna happen when she finds out you're trying to possess "her man?" Last edited by Arkard; 2016-09-04 at 18:57. Reason: Added more thoughts. |

But your assimilation idea is also interesting! |
