The beginning was a little long, but once the group entered Shiganshina things started to get moving.
Nice pitching from the Beast titan! OP is a lot better than the one from the previous cour, but it's a shame they weren't more creative with the visuals. It's basically a giant preview. The ED is the opposite and it's a giant flashback.

The previous OP grew on me after a while, but I still like this one better. The ED was pretty nice too, though they really didn't do much with the actual visuals.
Makes sense that the beginning of the operation would be a bit subdued, but now that the Beast Titan and Reiner have made their appearance, things should start getting exciting.

The New OP feels more like a AoT OP rather the previous one(that one was more for a more light series)
The chapter was good, how Armin noticed that and pushed for looking but was too late as the ambush was set. Amazing chapter after so long |

This season's starting out strong, very nice!
They're finally showing that freaking basement in the OP, after 7 years! We're now also seeing some titan action after all those interludes about Historia and the royal family. I thought that's what Levi was going for, slicing his neck then using his other blade to decapitate, but wasn't able to finish it since he saw it had no effect on Reiner and pulled out instead.

Levi did ask himself if it was another one of his titan abilities when he wasn't able to finish him off, so I guess Reiner hardened his bones? Still doesn't explain why Levi stabbed him first though.

The Town Where Everything Began
How do you face fear?
And intangible but real chill that runs down your spine like a sharp blade? To fear death is part within our nature, and only by embracing such fear and coming to terms with the certainty, not possibility, that you, I, and everybody else is going to die sooner or later, then we can muster courage from the abyss within our selves to finally let it go the moment we take the first step. For both Eren and Armin, the fear was insurmountable not because of the odds they were about to face but pondering at the higher stakes at play and feeling completely helpless at the minuscule thought of making a little blunder which could cost everything for Humanity's survival at the long term. Fear clouds our judgement when letting it the chance to get the better of ourselves, but it also reminds us at getting in touch with our limitations as human beings in order to accomplish feats, that at first we underestimate ourselves at being capable of, by pulling our knowledge, our strength, and our own persona together. And, ladies and gentlemen, that was what Armin was able to pull out through his fear. It was through his fear that Armin sought with desperation into the deepest bowels of his mind, until he recollected the light of his knowledge and experiences with the titans and titan shifters, however small it might had been. Armin was able to break through the boundaries of common sense through fear in order to think outside his own cage and, therefore, anticipating Reiner hiding inside the wall before letting him the chance at dealing the first move with a surprise attack. The first move was won over by the Scout Regiment thanks to Armin and as such forced the Beast Titan at revealing his hand to literally cage the Scouts within the walls of Shinganshina as a reply that their side is ready for the challenge with all odds of success at the Titans disposal. Nevertheless, save for death everything else is uncertain in life, and we all can bet that the Scout Regiment all of them are staking their lives for this decisive moment. |
