So we know what Denken's been up to. He's being kept in the dark by both sides because neither think he can be trusted, with the Empire trying to get him out of the capital so he can't interfere.

That Fräse woman sounds really powerful. Macht thought she was strong enough to destroy Weise 50 years ago, so imagine how strong she must be now.

Gluck's Japanese dialogue and mannerisms always reminds me of Kotomine. I hope Nakata Jouji gets casted as Gluck whenever the Macht arc gets adapted.

It sounds more to me like both sides want their mission to be kept secret and can't tell Denken because he's one of the most public figures in the empire. Definitely sounds like Fräse might be responsible for planning Serie's assassination though.

At the same time, Denken can't make any moves that would make him look biased against either side because he could risk losing his position.

I'm pretty sure she's the spy, since she was clearly looking for an excuse to let them go and seemed happy Übel provided one.

Looks like she infused the magic coins she paid Gazelle with mana.
What Denken is up to is less obvious though. Like Sense said, it's hard to believe that he doesn't know anything.

Next chapter is in issue 42. Since this was issue 40, there will be no chapter next week.

So we've got the hero of the north now, and he was no slouch. Hopefully, age has slowed him down a bit. I'd like to see Stark go up against him but it seems the younger shadow warriors will go after Stark instead. He may end up being Frieren's opponent.

I love that despite the fact Frieren was aware the merchant was a shadow warrior and put a tracking spell on the coins, she really did get ripped-off. That's so like her.

We also got a bit of lore with the mention of the third great mage (also an elf) who was killed 20 years ago.
