Was watching the OP, and was wondering who the heck is the black haired guy, and whether he was always in the OP before but just didn't notice. Good to know I haven't gone forgetful.
And for a Hikkikomori, Ryuu is weird. Hikkis usually shut themselves in because they are compelled to shut the outside world. But no, Ryuu shuts himself in fully because he chose to. Kinda weird he has such a distate for the members of the fairer gender though, considering he's a hikki. Childhood trauma perhaps? I dunno, but I hope some girl can cure him... which going by how they were introduced in the same episode, I hope Rita will. XD

Though if you look at it from another point of view- he doesn't like girls, he is pretty close to Sorata, and he certainly looks feminine enough....

Although this isn’t the first time we have a beautiful guy with long dark hair with a “dragon” in his name (Dragon Shiryuu from Saint Seiya is another), I’m liking this character. A nice addition to the gang. So, he likes to eat tomato huh? Probably to balance his habit of staring at the monitor every day and night.
Also, why Sorata has to be that freaked out when entering a normal hotel? Do the Japanese always associate hotels with doing “this and that”? Seriously, a good hotel is used for a lot of things. You can swim, eat at the resto, practice at the gym, have a meeting, watch a football match or F1 race together, come to a wedding party or an exhibition (like Mashiro’s) and a lot more. Chaos said that this episode is a bit hectic? Well, I’m already used to it and never really has a problem with this anime’s “energy”. Heck, I greatly enjoyed Yuuko’s episode .

Sorata, is a damn idiot! Why should Mashiro go back to paintings if that is NOT what she wants to do! You do not wish for anyone to go to something they no longer enjoy because the world wants it! Sorata, I agree with Mashiro!
Sorata no Baka! Let Mashiro try for her dream and stop pressing the worlds view on her! This episode made me hate Sorata myself not defending what Shiina wants to do! It's her life not Rita's! |

Haha, I knew that 'cliffhanger' would make people rage the same thing happened to me when I read the chapter.
Just want to point out that it's only his immediate and instinctive response to the painting and not that he has made up his mind on the spot.

True.. but he still has not defended her at all with that it's her decision.. It's her life and happiness.. I have to agree with Sorata no Baka! There is no ifs, ands, or buts it comes down to her happiness and what she wants to do not what the world wants and he has not defended that at all!

I just could not condemn Sorata for feeling such a way, nor could I think badly of Rita who is probably thinking along the same line. Loved this episode.

I think Sorata is not selfish. Its his initial expression and opinion from the piece of art that Mashiro make. I can't condemn him as a fellow artist. I understand when I see someone with great talent and you want to see it bloom and for others to recognize his/her ability.
Remember Sorata is just an ordinary guy and form his perspective that painting is very beautiful and touching. Enough for Nanami and Sorata to feel the ocean/corals itself. That art has life on it which can only be done by select few in the world thus I can understand the decision Sorata made but I'm sure it will also change after he had a talk with Mashiro because we still didn't know why he stop doing painting and tried to do manga. Mashiro is already a world renowned painter and her whole life she is drawing and painting so what's the reason for a change?

That's quite funny actually. And I'm loving the appearance of Ryuunosuke, he makes the full cast more interesting/fun. I'm hoping for some fun interactions between him and the others at Sakurasou. The weird, awkward kinds.

For people who are thinking that Mashiro should be allow to do whatever she wants; Let me give you have simple analogy to consider.
Say for example you created one of the greatest survival horror video game series of all time, and your loyal fans have been following you for years and years. Then all of a sudden you decide to change that series into an action-oriented game without considering what anybody thinks- Are you telling me that your long time fans have no reason to get angry and demand that you go back to your ‘roots’ ?

gaushhh!!! Mashiro's continuous Sorata no/wa/ga baka is just so cute ^^, ... all the way to that game ahaha... and then
さ (sa) ... sorata no baka no sa ... nyahaha WHUT??? :P then end it with a killer smile Finally Sorata shows he can pull his weight even within that bunch, with a great idea, way to stump the geniuses :P now he has to be the leader ehehe..into the fire. well it's better to lead a team of geniuses than a team of morons right? and just like that the show ended, really enjoying how the show makes you forget the time, how it absorbs you into the story, even with the antics of the cast. It ended with a beautiful but somber mood. I still feel though that the decision is Mashiro's alone, but it made me think again that maybe there is some other reason aside from "Manga" that's keeping Mashiro in japan. special mention: Ryounosuke finally shows himself ^^ my immediate thought was ..wow long hair, this guy doesn't really go out....almost missed that OP/ED >"hey who's that girl?" to omotte imashita >.< But why is he still not with them during the door sequence? xtra : I love that room painting! , wish i could have Mashiro paint my room too....and she can stay too.. if she wants Quote:

I can understand what Rita and Sorata are feeling. From my own experiences, I know that a great talent can feel like a typhoon that leaves everyone around them shaken. If they fail to utilize their talent in optimal way for prolonged period of time, not only will it leave void and sadness to those close to the person, but eventually the person herself will feel the emptiness, regret, and despair for not doing what she could and possibility that it may be too late for the person to accomplish all she should have.
Thankfully, Mashiro is still young. Ideal solution is for her to split her time and energy between fine arts and manga, with about twice as much time to fines arts, the form she excels at. If she develop sufficiently as mangaka to consider her ability as mangaka on par with Mashiro the artist, then we can rethink the distribution of her time usage. For this she will need people around her that can see things objectively, sometimes coldly when need arise, but still cares for her longtime happiness. Hopefully she will listen to compromises offered by those that knows and cares for her.
