Or even some modern-day soldiers (or wannabes cosplaying as soldiers) So basically the uniforms have the shoulder pads built in underneath the clothing, making it easier to just wear the uniform in one go instead of having to put on the uniform and the shoudler pad armor separately. Obviously some bits of armor (like Hevia's vest) still have to be worn outside the uniform.

Just out of curiosity, how many have been considering alternative defeat methods? Also, how many of them fit within the situations present in the novels and what was within reach?

To be more specfic, I've come up with a bunch. Largely split into conventional and reliable atomic (Objects are very resistant to nukes. There is a difference between 'immune' and 'resistant'), along with something like two and a half game-breaking Objects before we talk Flyby Colliders. The Early States had a system that scattered a mist of electromagnetically responsive nano-encapsulated acid which it could use to stand off a lot of attacks (why they bothered with the acid rather than just electrostatic dust I have no idea - it couldn't actually work fast enough to affect a hypersonic projectile), but that's as close as anyone's come. Granted, you could stand off plasma with a strong magnetic field, but we've only ever seen that as part of an excessively elaborate battlefield control scheme (except for the what the Early States was doing, I guess). |

But in all seriousness, I'm taking the broad systemic approach rather than the reactive/absurdly situational that the Dragon Slayers seem to prefer (outside of volume 9). |

I don't really think the Object would need them. Most of them seem to be about as wide as they are tall, so they would be pretty stable. More pertinently, it seems like even a small disruption in an Object's movement capabilities can lead to it being instantly crippled or destroyed on the battlefield, so being knocked over or flipped would probably be shortly followed by lethal barrage of railgun shells.
