Ungh, the show has really bland - and in some parts bad - animation. Once again I wonder if they have budget problems, or whether Madhouse sucks at allocation and execution. At least Miyuki looked great this episode in still frames. And a thumbs up for Erika with ponytail!
In other matters, I start to get why in some circles Mahouka was criticised for a supposed nationalistic tone. Not that I agree, but it is somewhat curious how all of the external enemies up till now come or are supported by that big landmass to the west of Japan. ![]() As for that episode, the interesting part was again the world building, the introduction of relics and magic sequence storage and why this is important. In this regard Mahouka is doing a good job trying to flesh out how magic works instead of putting it there and saying 'because it is so'.

Looks like this arc has started off well. Awesome fighting scene, Tatsuya never ceases to amaze me
![]() Now that you mention it, didn't he appear during the Nine Schools Competition? Didn't recognize him in this episode though.
