I always find a bit hypocritical when authors make the hero not kill the bad guy for ethical reasons, only to have the villain killed immediately after either by the same hero in self defense or by accident. It's like they acknowledge that the villain deserves to die and killing him is the best solution but cannot say it explicitly.

You know honestly, regardless of how badly this was executed. I don't think anyone deserves to die. Mostly because dead people can't feel, thus dead people can't be punished or otherwise compensate for what they have done.
And when I say compensate, I don't necessarily mean voluntarily. But it's still very badly executed. "I would be just like you" is such a tiresome cliché it drives me nuts. You really have to do some mental gymnastics to make that into an accurate statement as well. I mean if you consider the fact that his mistreatment of demihumans might be some kind of revenge for something the guy experienced in his own past, then maybe but even still there's no guarantee that she'll end up overcompensating in the same way. Especially since she has no indiscriminate hatred for anything human. Still not fond of revenge though, but there are better ways to present such things. |

Hm? Deserved? No not really. I would have much preferred to see them punished instead. Besides, none of the people you mentioned were ever executed for their deeds.
I'm saying his alex_drian's argument is incomplete because it's rather lacking in context. No more, no less. Like you could interpret it as if they one day invaded the villain's castle and murdered him in his sleep. Or they killed him during a battle where something was at stake. There's a rather big difference here. |

Raph not killing him is actually out of place in my perspective. Remember, when she was teen she tried to go for that guy who ordered the strike on Naofumi in a heartbeat. Like, killing him to stop him from keep doing it is smart. In fact, if they hadn't downplayed the guy as a threat they could have passed it off as a heat of the moment thing. He was trying to kill them and was going to try torturing the youngest princess.
