Well, that was a very...blurry introduction. I'm guessing Tetsuo gets involved in a traffic accident at the climax of the series
?
The Opening is very serene and melancholic as we see various shots of our cast, very fitting for a crime drama centered around a family and a father trying to do all he can to protect them
.
It's weird hearing Junichi Suwabe go from his typical snarky, hyper-masculine, roles to...a doting father and husband who is really just a regular guy, albeit one very dedicated to his family. Although he still has enough pull to be married to Sayaka Ohara (playing her first mom role of the season)
.
You try to have a pleasant meal with your daughter and then you find out her boyfriend beats you...and then you follow said boyfriend only for one of his goons to beat you up and take pictures of you naked for blackmail. This was not Tetsuo's day
.
As if we needed more reason to hate Nobuto, not only did he beat Reika but she was simply a money farm to him that he was planning to kill when he was done with her like he did past girlfriends. Really can't say he didn't have Tetsuo killing him coming
.
Tetsuo's wife immediately proving she's a Ride or Die by catching her husband in front of a dead body and immediately understanding why he did it...and then when they realize how screwed they are, her first instinct is to hide the body. Honestly I get the sense that she probably would've killed him herself if she'd known about the abuse beforehand
.
Well, at least Reika is coming home and can hopefully move on from this to a better life, though I'm worried she'll still be caught up in the web of intrigue her family is now trapped in because of Nobuto
.
So now Tetsuo has to deal with Akio Ohtsuka's Kubo and Shinichiro Miki as Nobuto's dad, who paralles Tetsuo as a father who would do anything for their child (especially since they were the only ones they had after Nobuto's mom bailed on them), only he's also a crime boss so he's definitely someone to be worried about. Especially when he finds out someone killed his son as we leave off on a cliffhanger of Tetsuo possibly discovered
.
The ED is pretty effective if minimalist with all the reused character shots in broken glass, befitting the crazy and dangerous world the cast are living in. The only glass pieces that fit back together are, fittingly, Tetsuo and his wife. The theme is also suitably tense and engaging
.
