View Full Version : Jojo's Bizarre Adventure
I'm still kinda leaning towards the rock people being an alternate version of the Pillar Men. Besides, it would actually be cool to see Araki do an alternate take on Cars, heh. ;)
Today is Araki's birthday. Happy birthday!
On this glorious day, we got more info about the Jorge Joestar novel. It's freaking nuts. The author has to have been writing this while on LSD. I believe somebody is translating it, I'm very anxious to read it.

Speaking of, the new version of the end of part 4 is out already.
Man, I nearly forgot about Araki's birthday. Well, I wish him a happy belated birthday myself, as well! And yes, I'm actually looking forward to the translation of the Jorge Joestar novel, myself. I remember reading a translation a while back of an excerpt where Erina recounts the details of the aftermath of Jonathan's death, and I found it quite interesting, indeed.....
And of course, now that I know that the revised Part 4 translation is done, it's about time I get crackin' on that, as well! ;)
That special time of the month is here again! :D I didn't see a full raw yet, but at least a translation of the script is out:
First, we get a brief summary from Josuke about the recent events regarding Yagiyama Yotsuyu. Afterwards, Yasuho wakes up again and greets Josuke, but she soon gets sent back home by Nori, as he believes she's better off not knowing about Yotsuyu. He then says that he's having a chemical analysis being done on the architect's corpse, and has already discovered that the mystery man has stolen the identity of a child with no family over a decade ago, who's probably dead. He warns both Josuke and Tsurugi to not reveal that info to anyone, not even fellow members of the Higashikata family.....
Meanwhile, the dog that Yotsuyu had fed previously has returned! And not only that, it's munching on the piece of mystery fruit that Yasuho had last chapter! Norisuke examines it, saying that it smells a lot like a fig. Josuke asks if it's possible to track the fruit's source using King Nothing, but Nori says they need to do a bit more investigation on the fruit first, as it could have came from overseas. That being said, he decides to head to the office of his fruit parlor, which has records of all known fruits in the word!
Nori and Josuke head to the fruit parlor, where Nori gives an explanation of how he conducts his business (particularly that he makes sure to only sell the freshest fruits). Before they go to the actual office though, Nori treats Josuke to a parfait (which looks absolutely mouth-watering!). Interestingly, during their little dessert break, they have an unexpected run-in with the eldest son of the Higashikata family.... Joubin! Turns out he came back from overseas. He and Josuke then introduce themselves to each other, and Joubin gives him various souvenirs (like a stag beetle, a wristwatch, etc...). Then, if I'm not mistaken, Joubin drops something that may or may not be related to that mystery fruit (can't tell without pictures, sorry! :heh:). He picks it up with a handkerchief, and it seems that Nori's stand has already picked up the smell from it.....
Yeah, this chapter's a bit uneventful compared to the last couple, but I think it's interesting, nonetheless. I mean, at least we're finally introduced to Tsurugi's father, after all! Dunno what to think about him yet due to the scarcity of pics, unfortunately (though Araki sure wasn't slow in making him look suspicious). Oh, and speaking of Tsurugi, he gave a name to that dog: Iwasuke! Now I'm wondering if that dog will gain a stand ability....
Oh, and lastly, here's the only pics I DID find:
http://i.imgur.com/haJIW09.png
^Mother of GOD, I wanna taste that parfait....
http://i.imgur.com/b3bqBMf.png
^I may have no comments on his character, but I DO like his design! ;)
Bumping since the tl'ed scans are out....
And I was right! Joubin IS connected to those fruits somehow! I still don't really know what to think about him, though. He seems like a pretty cheerful guy but, otherwise I can't really gauge anything else about him. Gotta see some more interaction between him and Josuke and co. before I can properly judge him, I guess....
Also, that dog MUST be a stand user. He just kinda phased right through a wall like it was nothing. Maybe Iwasuke is gonna be something like the Iggy of part 8? :p
Oh, and I was rather amused by Josuke's little fantasy about Yasuho! :heh:

How did Josuke spill his parfait?
EDIT: I was looking through this thread and I was wondering, what ever happened to that live action Jojo movie?
Jobin does have a cool design. It's indeed hard to gauge him. He seems pretty cheery and friendly, but there's something about him that makes me uneasy. There's his connection to the fruit of course, but I didn't like how he forced his gift on Josuke either.
Also, that dog MUST be a stand user. He just kinda phased right through a wall like it was nothing. Maybe Iwasuke is gonna be something like the Iggy of part 8? :p
I don't know, but what I can tell you for sure is that he's going to die horribly like all Jojo dogs before him.
How did Josuke spill his parfait?
EDIT: I was looking through this thread and I was wondering, what ever happened to that live action Jojo movie?
I don't get it either. He took a bite and then suddenly spilled everything right out. I guess he was shocked by the taste?
As for the live-action, I haven't heard anything. I had in fact entirely forgotten about it...
Once again, a script translation has been released before the full scans:
The chapter starts with Josuke hanging out with the rest of the Higashikata family, all of whom also received souvenirs from Joubin. Later, Josuke has a private conversation with Tsurugi, asking him what his father's stand ability is. He plans to corner Joubin in order to learn of his connection to the mysterious fruit. He also says he has yet to share his intentions of confronting Joubin to Norisuke, as he most likely would not seek the truth of the fruit at the expense of his own child. Tsurugi, on the other hand, is at a position where he MUST know the truth, which is why Josuke is only confiding with the boy.....
Naturally, the child is hesitant to cooperate at first, but he eventually gives in, making Josuke promise to not harm his father. He then explains that Joubin's weakness is stag beetles. It turns out that he raises his own collection of the bugs, and is more childish than Tsurugi when it comes to his hobby. He also likes to have the beetles fight, and if Josuke manages to defeat him with the beetle he was given last chapter, the collector's pride will be damaged and he may just be willing to cough up the necessary information. And so, Josuke puts this plan underway, managing to gradually persuade Joubin to have their beetles fight, and placing bets in the process. Joubin takes the bet (saying he'll give away a Hercules beetle if he loses), but first has Josuke's beetle participate in a "warm-up" round of sorts in order to raise its fighting spirit. However, the beetle's opponent is not another beetle, but.... a wasp. If it dies, it's Josuke's loss. As the match starts, Joubin asks Josuke just what exactly is he willing to bet.....
My, this is a very interesting chapter..... so suddenly Jojo's turned into Pokemon, eh? :p Joubin's starting to become more interesting for me, as well. So I guess his stand power is related to bugs, then? Oh snap, is this the return of Tower of Grey!? :uhoh:
Translated scans have been out for a good while now, so.... bump! ;)
Looks like I got something a bit mixed up in my above summary, due to the earlier lack of scans..... I thought Joubin had Josuke's beetle fight the wasp, but it looks like it was his own. But damn, did that match end quickly. Heh, I made a joke earlier about Joubin having a bug stand, but maybe he's meant to be the next D'arby the Gambler instead? :p

You would think that with how much he seems to like insects (especially stag beetles) that Jobin's stand would be something related to them, but I don't think it'll be that obvious.
Plus I'm inclined to think it'd seem a little too similar to Tower of Grey from Stardust Crusaders.
^I brought up Tower of Grey in my spoiler post, lol. :heh: But now I'm sorta leaning towards him having a game/gambling-type stand like the D'arby bros. from SC (or the Boy II Men kid and Marilyn Manson from part 4 and Stone Ocean, respectively). At least, that's what I gather from his obsession with bugs/toys and Tsurugi's talk about him being a "shrewd businessman".....
Well guys, there's good news and bad news. Let's start with the good news, shall we? ;) The next Jojolion raw is out, along with a translated script:
Continuing from last chapter, Joubin asks Josuke what they'll bet for their bug fight. However, before Josuke can answer, Joubin comes up with an alternate solution: Instead of betting one of his beetles as he mentioned earlier, he decides that the loser of the match will shave their eyebrows. Josuke agrees, saying that he's confident in his beetle's intelligence. He then has a brief flashback where he continues grilling Tsurugi about his dad's stand ability, but the child doesn't know. He then gives Josuke an important tip, telling him to use the pheromones of female beetles to boost his own bug's fighting spirit. This is done by concealing said pheromones in the tip of the brushes used to spur the bugs on during their fight.
Back in the present, the bug fight begins! As both beetles grapple each other, Joubin already figured out Josuke's trick with the pheromones. Suddenly, Bin's beetle breaks one of the mandibles of Josuke's! Bin says that he regularly sharpens his beetles' mandibles with a file to make them sharper. Nonetheless, Josuke's bug stands strong. Bin's beetle then twists his opponent's neck, and it looks like Bin's victory is all but assured. However, Josuke has one last trick up his sleeve: It turns out that he actually concealed the female pheromones in his soap bubbles. As soon as they pop, his beetle gains a large boost in strength and manages to lift up Bin's beetle, which shock both him and Joushuu. Joubin's beetle then runs out of the ring, making Josuke's bug the winner. As promised, Joubin now has no choice but to shave one of his eyebrows (which he does proceeds to do with a rather unpleasant face, lol :p).
Personally, I find it funny that Josuke's bug won with strength in the end despite talking about intelligence earlier..... oh well. Also, totally digging the star mark on his bug!
And now the bad news I mentioned before: Jojo is on break next month, so we have to wait until October for the next chapter. :( It'll be a long wait, but I can bear it.....
Josuke mastered the secret art of doping.
His Giant Stag Beetle's power was measured OVER 9000.
In the end we have the obligatory JoJo pose.
An entire chapter for a beetle fight. And it's only the beginning! This is probably going to last quite some time.
In other news, Araki did the ice bucket challenge:

Round 2, and it doesn't look good for Josuke. Will he have his eyeball licked?
^I doubt there's a need for spoiler tags since the chapter's already translated and all, heh. ;)
Anyways, I liked this chapter. For one thing, I just somehow find it hilarious that Tsurugi ran to Yasuho for help despite barely explaining what's going on (and not even apologizing for imprisoning her earlier, lol). Also, Joubin DOES look funny with one less eyebrow! I dunno if he's using a stand ability to cheat in the second bug wrestling match, but he sure strikes me as a crafty one, either way....
Lastly, while he's no Speedwagon, I must admit that Joushuu as a fight commentator is quite amusing! :p

Just in case there are people who haven't read it yet.
Figured this would last at least three chapters. It's actually a nice change from the stand fights.
No full set of scans yet, but there is a spoiler out for the next chapter:
Joubin's stand is finally revealed:
http://i.imgur.com/RSbimFi.jpg
^Apparently, it has the ability to manipulate temperature. Also, this hasn't been confirmed yet, but the stand's name may be Sean Paul (which is rather odd, since that would break the "King" naming pattern that the Higashikata stands have so far)....

He looks as angry as King Crimson.
Really hope the name isn't Sean Paul.
Well, the translated chapter is finally out. Sure is crazy how Josuke beat Joubin's beetle....

Well, the good news is that his stand's name still hasn't been revealed yet! ;) And as I said before, it would have broke the "King" naming pattern, anyway.

I saw this and wanted to share. http://keytee-chan.deviantart.com/journal/Dora-the-Explorer-Jojo-Vision-484622551
Once again, the full chapter isn't out yet, but there are some spoilers:
So it looks like we get another major clue regarding the mystery fruits, as we're introduced to the guy who provided Joubin those fruits in the first place:
http://livedoor.blogimg.jp/ikesanfromfr/imgs/e/d/eda5d214.jpg
^My, oh my, does that guy seem familiar, or is it just me? Like a certain individual whose identity was stolen in part 4....? ;)
Anyways, details are still a bit murky, but it looks like Joubin is worried that his family suspects him of doing shady business....
Oh, and the chapter begins with Tsurugi groping Yasuho's thighs, amusingly enough (well, probably more like disturbingly for some, lol :p). Now it's looking more and more likely that he was the one who was molesting Yasuho when she was first pulled into that cellar....
Bumping for the translated chapter! :D
Damn, it looks like being creepy practically runs in the Higashikata family. Joubin sure had a unique way of interrogating Josuke, that's for certain. Also, it's neat to see that Yasuho is finally aware of her ability. I definitely can't wait to see her take full advantage of that power (BTW, I wonder how Tsurugi already knew Paisley Park's name....?). But now it's time we learn what's up with this fruit dealer dude....
Sweet, alt Kawajiri is in the place. We might get to see Hayato again, though I'm not holding my breath.
Paisley park seems to be able to do more than act as a GPS. The whole flashlight thing was very intriguing.
The next raw is out:
Yasuho and Tsurugi continue to spy on the mystery fruit dealer. His name is revealed to be Dainenjiyama Aishou (kanji is 大年寺山 愛唱), is 29 years old, and I think it's mentioned that he's a pro baseball player. They follow him to a park, and Tsurugi uses one of his origami frogs to keep a closer eye on him. However, after Aishou passes through a tunnel, they see he's no longer holding the fruit tree! It turns out that the pot was on the ground, smashed, next to a wheelchair! It seems that the fruits were purchased by the old man sitting on that wheelchair, who was missing a leg. After he starts munching on the fruits, a most unusual phenomenon takes place: His missing leg starts to grow back! Suddenly, he's able to run alongside a group of joggers, shouting about how happy he is! He then runs into a car where an old lady (presumably his wife) is waiting. I believe he tells her that he spent 20 million yen on those fruits. Suddenly, as he's embracing her, his eyes begin to dry up and crumble, but he doesn't seem to care and continues making out with the old lady, lol. :p
Naturally, Yasuho and Tsurugi are freaked out by what they just witnessed. However, things get worse from here: It looks like Aishou is aware of his pursuers. He steps on Tsurugi's frog, and suddenly the child is coughing up blood...!!!
Really odd chapter, this. It'll definitely take a translation to make sense of things (at least to an extent, heh). But judging by what happened to the old man, I guess those fruits are what turns humans into rock....?
Well, the translated chapter is out. And as I figured, it's as confusing as ever even with a translation, heh. :p So I guess that old man didn't pay for those fruits with money, after all. And of course, that still leaves the question of where the heck those fruits came from in the first place (though I'm still pretty convinced they come from a stand power)....
And hey, it's a half-naked Josuke on the splash page! Though I'm not sure that would be enough to erase the sight of an elderly couple making sweet love, lol. :heh:
Another month, another Jojo! ;) Haven't found the full raw yet, but I did find a little preview of sorts:
http://i.imgur.com/OryrJi4.jpg
^Looks like Dainenjiyama's stand has already been revealed....
And now a bump for the translated chapter! :)
This was pretty danged intense, too! Dainenjiyama's stand is quite a dangerous one, indeed. Also, Yasuho and Tsurugi make a surprisingly good team with their abilities. Hopefully, they'll be able to outwit their enemy and escape his trap....
Tazmanian devil stand? Scary.
No full raw yet as far as I can tell, but at least a spoiler for the next chapter is out:
Basically, Yasuho and Tsurugi's battle against Dainenjiyama continues. But what's really interesting is that we finally learn the name of the mystery fruit! Apparently, it's called "Locacaca" (「ロカカカ」 in the original Japanese). Also, it may or may not be a reference to a song from Juan Morgan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juan_Magan) called "Se vuelve loca". Very interesting if that's the case! :)
And so, in this month's Jojo:
First thing's first: We got the name of Dainenjiyama Aishou's stand! It's named Doobie Wow, based on Peter Frampton's "Doobie Wah". (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frampton_Comes_Alive!) We also learn more of the enemy's past, as well. Basically, it seems that he's another "rock human" like Yotsuyu. Meanwhile, Yasuho and Tsurugi are still keeping themselves from being killed by the stand, but eventually they run into Aishou himself! Furthermore, it looks like Joubin also met him in person! He's surprised that Tsurugi is the one tailing him, but tells Joubin that he'll kill the child anyway. However, he's confused as to why Joubin doesn't respond to him.... as it turns out, what he talked to wasn't Tsurugi's father at all. Rather, it was a bus folded by origami into Joubin's image! Tsurugi used his ability to fool his enemy and it looks like the second rock man got hit by the bus...!!!

wow
tsurugi stand are kinda op isn,t?
i mean he even can camoflaged/camuflaged a big thing like bus to look like his father
and aishou past are kinda sad
Yeah, I actually feel pretty bad for Aishou.... not only did his girlfriend betray him BIG TIME (literally cheated on him in his very presence for starters), but the guy seems to have bad luck all around. I mean, he kept getting crapped on by those birds last chapter, and now he just meets a rather sudden end here. I mean, I know he was prepared to kill a little kid and all, but at least he was decent enough to ask for permission, y'know? :p
And yeah, this chapter really proves that Tsurugi has a hella broken ability. I mean, imagine if he fooled you into thinking that a huge truck looks like a big sack of cash or something. That would just be plain sadistic! :heh:
Tsurugi's ability is a lot more powerful than I imagined. Shouldn't Aishou have noticed that Joubin was moving too fast though? How was he even able to follow the bus on foot?
Shouldn't Aishou have noticed that Joubin was moving too fast though? How was he even able to follow the bus on foot?
Either traffic was heavy during the time he was trailing him, or those rock people move a lot faster than we thought! :heh:
'Nother month, 'nother spoiler: ;)
Not much info so far (no translated script or summary yet), but I think that Josuke finally reunites with Yasuho, and they continue their investigation of the "Locacaca" fruits and the rock people. Also, yet another new character is introduced this chapter:
http://i.imgur.com/Z4myTUc.jpg
^Looks like her name is Sakunami Karera (might actually be spelled Carrera, but it's unknown so far). Josuke is also unsure whether or not the girl is a foreigner, which also adds to the confusion surrounding her name (it's written completely in katakana, no kanji at all). Well, however her name is spelled, I just think it's great to see more women in the cast (at least, I hope she isn't a trap like Tsurugi.... :uhoh:).
Oh, and credit goes to translator Kewl0210 for the spoiler pic! :)
Alright, the translated chapter is out! And it's quite an entertaining one, too! ;)
Heh, I loved the "reunion" scene between Josuke and Yasuho (is it just me, or does Tsurugi want to hog Josuke all to himself...?). The new character is an amusing one, as well. Seeing as she seems to have a hair-related stand ability, I guess she's supposed to be Yukako 2.0 or something....?
That was a nice chapter. Nice break from the almost non-stop action. Josuke and Yasuho make a really cute couple.

Or Kars, if she's also rock human.
Just checked out the raw for the new chapter:
Josuke is still hanging out with Karera, who gets into some more wacky antics (in particular, Josuke finds her in a bathroom in a rather..... daring position, for instance :p). However, the two soon have a conversation, and Karera shows our protagonist something interesting: A picture of his non-Kira half! It also turns out that his other half's real name is Kujo Josefumi (Josefumi actually has a bit of a resemblance to the original part 4 Josuke, BTW). After showing him the photo, Karera messes with an ATM machine (I think she's stealing money from it, but I'm not sure), and it's at this point that we get a glimpse of her stand:
http://i.imgur.com/HYyBxSe.jpg
Meanwhile, we see two odd-looking twin dudes bouncing around a ball, who get approached by police officers. They soon get into a scuffle with the cops, and it's clear straight away that the twins are rock humans with stand abilities. One of them transforms his hand into handcuffs he stole from one of the cops (we see the cuffs "transferring from the cop to the guy's hand), and then he literally locks the cuffs through the cop's jaw. The other policeman tries to restrain the twin, but his hand merely gets "transferred" to the cuffs attached to his partner's jaw! The twins then take their leave, talking about Karera....
Well now, isn't this is an interesting chapter? We finally learn the identity of Josuke's second half, we see Karera's stand, and a new pair of enemies appear! Can't wait to find out the new stand names! ;)
Josefumi's haircut is somehow worse than Josuke's :heh:
And he looks creepy as shit with Crazy Diamond's eyes.
Josefumi also has a Joestar birthmark, but why wasn't he on the family tree? Is he an illegitimate son of Joseph like in the original universe, or perhaps of Holy (given that his name is Kujo) this time?
Well, the translated chapter's out. So I guess Karera is a rock person, too? At least, that's the only connection I can see between her and those twins.
Josefumi also has a Joestar birthmark, but why wasn't he on the family tree? Is he an illegitimate son of Joseph like in the original universe, or perhaps of Holy (given that his name is Kujo) this time?
Yeah, I'm also guessing he's a bastard son of Joseph, like the original Josuke. At least, that would make for a nice parallel to the original timeline! ;)
Next chapter's raw is here:
After a brief glimpse of those twins from last chapter, we get more of the misadventures of Josuke and Karera (looks like she tries to cheat a taxi driver). Now, if I'm not mistaken (there's no summary or script out yet, unfortunately), Karera says she wants to go meet Kira, but Josuke tells her that he's dead. She gets scared when she hears the news, and suddenly she brings up the name of "Locacaca".... in other words, those mystery fruits! As it turns out, she, Kira, and Josefumi all have a connection to those fruits, as well! However, before the conversation continues, those twin brothers make their appearance....
The brother with the stand ability grabs Karera, then uses his power on a car to cover her with gasoline. Then he proceeds to set her on fire! Thankfully, Josuke saves her with S&W. When the twins target him next, Josuke hits the brother with the stand, making his face a bloody mess! However, our MC gets distracted dodging an attack from the twin with the ball, which allows the other twin to capture Josuke using wires from a fence! Karera takes the opportunity to run away while the other three are fighting, but I think the twin with the stand says that taking care of Josuke takes top priority right now....
Geez, is every new character introduced going to be connected to those fruits somehow!? :p Anyway, those twins certainly don't mess around. Still, you'd kinda think that Karera would return the favor to Josuke considering he saved her life mere moments before she ran away.
And in this month's Jojo:
The twin brothers are known as the Aphex Twins, (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aphex_Twin), and their stands are Schottkey (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fnjtPopUsGk) No. 1 and No. 2 for the older and younger brother, respectively. As far as the younger brother's power is concerned, it seems to be a poison gas-type stand that he keeps in the ball he's always kicking around.
Also, as it turns out, despite being told to run away last chapter, Karera actually stays behind to back up Josuke in this battle, with her stand whose name is revealed to be Love Love Deluxe (yep, total confirmation that she's alternate Yukako after all ;))! During the fight, the older twin comments that Josuke's S&W works similarly to Kira's stand ability, but is also reminded of Josefumi, as well. Eventually, Karera uses her ability to set both twins on fire using gasoline (guess it's payback for setting HER on fire earlier, lol), and Josuke uses this opportunity to finish the twins off by using their own poison against them! They both turn to rock form and crumble apart! After the fight, Karera is under the impression that Josuke is Josefumi after using the Rokakaka fruit's equal exchange power with Kira....
Geez, these rock guys just keep getting beaten sooner and sooner after their introduction. Next thing you know, we'll be seeing rock men getting killed right in their intro chapter! :heh:
Edit: Whoops, nearly forgot to mention: The recently released volume 10 of Jojolion revealed the name of Joubin's stand to be Speed King! (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speed_King) Sweet, Deep Purple reference! :)
I for one am glad this fight ended promptly. Makes up for the fight against Yotsuyu which seemed to last forever.
Translated chapter is out. Geez, I didn't think Araki would already go into a detailed explanation of the rock humans' biology this soon! :heh:
Anyway, I think this is pretty much my favorite fight of Part 8 so far. I especially like how Josuke mixed in some fisticuffs instead of relying solely on his stand (reminds me of Jolyne from Stone Ocean in that regard). I hope he fights more like that against future opponents from now on.
Also.... with Karera's declaration to stick around in Morioh, does this mean that Yasuho has a rival in love....!? :uhoh:
Well, raw's out as well as the script! However, the next chapter's a bit shorter this time around:
Basically, the start of the chapter involves Josuke and Yasuho investigating the Rokakaka fruits and Josefumi. Apparently, the Rokakaka originally came from New Guinea. As far as Josefumi is concerned, Josuke decides to personally visit his home address.
Meanwhile, at the Higashikata household, the elder daughter Hato introduces the family to her new boyfriend.... a guy named Damo Tamaru. This boyfriend is a truly odd person, indeed...!!!!
Huh, I guess this boyfriend is another rock human. Anyway, nice that we're starting to get more focus on Hato now! Can't wait to see what stand power she has! :)
Hato's boyfriend looks so ridiculous :heh:
One of the goofiest characters in Jojo, and that's saying something.
And in this month's chapter:
While Hato tells the family the story of how she met Damu, Josuke continues his phone chat with Yasuho. She reveals that she found a picture of his passport, and when Josuke asks if the picture resembles him, she replies it doesn't. Still, she says she'll fax the picture to him, and continue investigating the man.
After Hato finishes her story, Josuke tells Norisuke he has to step out, but the patriarch asks him to find the maid Nijimura first before leaving. Damu also asks to be excused to wash his hands. As Josuke searches for Nijimura, we soon find out what happened to her.....
http://i.imgur.com/QYPwqqO.png
Furthermore, as Joushuu leads Damu to the restroom, he discovers that the house's security equipment was tampered with. We also get one more surprise when Yasuho's fax finally arrives:
http://i.imgur.com/Pfbp0Ot.jpg
Back to Joushuu, it seems he's about to meet the same fate as Nijimura! As his skin starts melting from the inside out, he suspects that Damu had some purpose in coming to their house. Meanwhile, Daiya receives Yasuho's fax. The family are curious about it, but as she's about to deliver it to Josuke, he warns her to stay back, as something strange is going on. More suspicions arise concerning Hato's boyfriend.....
....Goddamn it, Araki, way to throw another curveball at us! :p Unfortunately, we'll have to wait until December to find out what happens next since the series is on break next month.

I don't even know what I'm supposed to understand :eyespin:
Well, translated chapter's out. This may be the strangest Jojolion chapter by far. And considering what series we're talking about here, that's REALLY saying something! :eyespin:
Anyways, concerning the connection between Damo and Josefumi, the only conclusion I can come to is that either one (or maybe even BOTH) of them are rock humans and one of them stole the others' identity. But whatever the answer may be, I have a good feeling that roughly 10 more questions will pop up at the same moment, lol. :heh:
On another note, I really enjoyed seeing Norisuke struggling to maintain his calm, knowing that his daughter is dating such a weirdo. Guess this is a chapter that all caring fathers can relate to, eh? :p
And after last month's break, the series is back on track:
Can't make much from the summary without a non-machine translation, but one particular thing to point out is that Damo's stand is revealed, whose name is Vitamin C:
http://i.imgur.com/b6MOaqM.jpg
Also, it looks like Damo spills the beans about himself to Norisuke, if I'm not mistaken. We even get a flashback involving Kira, the rock people, and Josefumi. Really looking forward to the full chapter and translation, since this one looks to be quite informative....
Okay, translated chapter's out! And it's a pretty darn cool one, at that! ;)
So yeah, it's looking more and more like Damo is a rock human, after all. And we finally get an explanation of his stand (it doesn't melt people, but makes them extremely soft). And then we have the flashback where Kira is playing detective.... sweet. As far as Josefumi goes, it's pretty neat to see him demonstrate his original stand ability, as well (looks like we see where S&W's "separation" power comes from). Can't wait for the next chapter! :)
Dang, still no answers on Josefumi, but it looks like the mystery is slowly unraveling.
Spoiler summary for the next chapter is out:
This chapter focuses on Josefumi's past. It turns out that he didn't have a very good mother (she took drugs, would skip out on work, and divorced from her husband). Later, the young Josefumi gets caught in an accident at the beach, where he hits his head on a rock after getting caught in a riptide. He's rushed to the hospital, where it's revealed that the boy also got into cardiac arrest after having drowned during the accident. Interestingly, Holly was already at the hospital at that time along with a younger Kira, and tells the latter to help Josefumi by using Killer Queen to open his blood clots, which revives him. After his life is saved, Josefumi and his friends go to the theaters to watch Titanic (indicating this flashback takes place around 1997).
We then flash forward a bit to when Kira is investigating Dainenjiyama. He sees a pitcher with a messed-up arm buying the fruit for 200 million yen, which makes him interested in the fruit, as well. Its high monetary value means that he can use the fruits to help Holly, and he tells this to Josefumi. Naturally, he also wants to help Holly as well since she helped save his life when he was a child. Thus, they set their plan into motion: Using Josefumi's stand (which Kira describes as having an "absorption" ability), they'll "graft" a branch from the fruit tree to another tree, allowing them to grow their own fruits. And so, the chapter ends with the two men stealing a tree branch without attracting Aishou's notice.....
Translated chapter's out! Boy, it's great to see Killer Queen in his full glory again! :) That was a pretty interesting way of using Sheer Heart Attack, as well. Plus, we get to see Josefumi's original stand in action, so it's win-win! ;)
Anyways, that sure was a crazy price the baseball player had to pay for getting healed (not so much the money as.... well, you know). Seems Team Kira didn't actually steal the tree's branch yet, but I think it's safe to assume that Aishou catches them in the act (or at least connects them to the theft), what with him and his rock buddies assaulting everyone connected to Kira in the present time....

Is the Kira in this universe a joestar?
I never thought Killer Queen could be used to save lives. It always seemed like a stand that was only capable of destruction (the polar opposite of Josuke's stand). Pretty cool to see what Josefumi could do too. His stand doesn't look like Crazy Diamond at all.
Is the Kira in this universe a joestar?
Yeah, he's Holly's son and thus more or less an alternate Jotaro.

I recently learned that this year marks the 30th anniversary of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure (the series begun in Jump in December of 1986), and after taking a long break from this series, I decided to not only catch up on part 8, but to also re-read the previous parts in time for the anniversary. I hope I can rekindle the love I had for this series.

I finished catching up with part 8 and I think my interest has been renewed. I liked a number of things: how Yasuho started to consciously use her Stand, learning Josefumi's real name, and Josefumi's connection to Kira. I'm a little disappointed that we still haven't learned what left those teeth marks in the characters that seemingly gave them Stands, but I'm sure it'll come up in time.

Spoiler for this month's chapter is out:
Continuing from the flashback, Kira and Josefumi do indeed steal a branch from the fruit tree. Unfortunately, Aishou still finds out that the branch has been switched, as the foreign branch causes the tree's fruits to wither....
Back in the present, Damo eventually gets Norisuke to confess that he had a hand in killing Aishou. Then it seems that he tries to force Norisuke to betray Josuke, and tortures the man by cutting him with a 1000-yen bill....
We return to the flashback, where Karera appears at some point. Eventually, Kira is attacked by Damo, who uses his stand to soften up his opponent. Kira tries to fight back with Killer Queen (specifically Sheer Heart Attack), but Damo uses Vitamin C to soften Kira's stand, as well....!!!
My, for such a weirdo, Damo is surprisingly fearsome..... though I gotta say that relying on paper cuts is a rather..... unique method of torture, heh. :heh:
The chapter's out.
Damo, in spite of his goofy appearance, is pretty damn scary. His stand is really strong too. Took down Kira like he was nothing. I'm guessing this is where it ended for Kira and Josefumi.

Is this Damon part 8 antagonist?
Bit late in commenting on the chapter, but.... yeah, Damo is a surprisingly frightening enemy. But what I find more interesting is that I've seen some speculation that he might be the alt. version of Part 4's Shigekiyo (aka "Fatty" for those familiar with the DUWANG scans), which makes his encounter with Kira all the more fascinating considering the outcome of their "original" encounter....
Is this Damon part 8 antagonist?
As in the MAIN antagonist? Personally, I kinda doubt it, but hey.... ya never know with Araki! :p
Spoiler pics are out for the next chapter:
Continuing from the flashback, Damo is torturing both Kira and Josefumi. Damo even goes as far as to stick the 1k yen bill right into Josefumi's head! However, despite the torture, it looks like Kira still refuses to give in to his enemies....
Meanwhile, Karera seems to be looking for Josefumi (oddly, Araki has his name romanized as "Josephmi".... possibly to make another Joestar connection?). However, during her search, she gets attacked by the enemy's stand! Things look grim for her at first, but as it turns out, she was being protected after all.... by Killer Queen (or more specifically, sheer heart attack). Later, we see Josefumi, who survived the torture, carrying Kira (who seems to be unconscious, or possibly dead). He has one of the Rokakaka fruits in his hand, and summons his stand, as well..... which still seems to be called Soft & Wet. I think he intends to use the fruit in conjunction with his stand ability, but I'm really not sure without a translation (would certainly explain how the two of them seem to be fused together, though).....
WRYYYYYEEEEAH!! Translated chapter's out! :D
And damn, Kira was still freaking badass despite being half-dead.... He sure got that Damo good, that's for certain! ;)
So like I said in the spoiler, it looks like we're about to find out exactly how the current Josuke came to be. Though if that is the case, then is it even possible to reverse the Rokakaka's effects....?
Oh, and still amused by "Josephmi", BTW. :heh:

Kira looked dead to me (his eyes were completely lifeless). That would explain why he and Josefumi fused together, the fruit works with equivalent exchange, so another life (Josefumi's) was needed to save him. I guess.

i have reread part 4 yesterday
awesome fights, chars and powers, now i know again why kyochi and echo are my most favorite char and stand of part 4 :heh:
I mean, sure, Duwang was amusing, but it really wasn't the best way to enjoy the manga.
Well, we also have to remember that for the longest time, DUWANG was literally the ONLY translation available for part 4. That being said, I personally recommend reading both translated versions for the full experience.... because I honestly can't imagine part 4 Jojo without Duwang at this point, lol. :p
On another note, translated 53 is out! And damn, Josefumi was freaking badass this chapter. I especially loved how he beat the crap out of those twins despite being freaking HALF DEAD (makes me wonder how they even survived perfectly intact for their later "rematch" with Josuke). Man forget the Kira fusion excuse, I'm more inclined to believe that Josefumi already had four balls from the start! :heh:

Haha, yeah. Josefumi was really amazing in this chapter.
His sacrifice was sad and beautiful.
Also, somehow I find it kinda amusing that in the present, Josuke is going as far as to ask Hato permission to kill Damo. Like, he's being all polite about it despite being stuck in such a life-or-death situation. "Um, excuse me, but is it okay if I kill your boyfriend? He's kind of trying to kill us all and I'd like to prevent that as quickly as possible. Thank you." :heh:
Hey guys, translated 54 is already out!
And it's a damned awesome chapter, too. The battle against Damo is finally underway! And this time.... it's Hato's time to shine! ;)
Still, I gotta say.... Damo is damned creative with his torture methods. I don't think many people would use fish to cause someone pain (of course, I also doubt there are many others capable of turning people into giant puddles of goo, but still). :heh:

Hell hath no fury than a woman scorns.....
Time for Hato to show she's not just a bimbo.
A few spoiler pics are out:
Hato finishes off Damo by impaling his head while walking on the roof. A sad face appears on the woman who just killed her (ex)boyfriend....
Later, we're introduced to yet another new character: Norisuke's wife! Interestingly, she seems to have the same "split" eyes that Josuke has. Meanwhile, at the end of the chapter, we see Joushuu climbing out of a manhole (remember he got sucked into the drain earlier, lol :p).
Yeah, I'm not sure if we catch Mrs. Higashikata's name (the spoiler pics were kinda small for me to tell). She looks a bit younger than her husband, though...
Translated chapter's out!
Looks like I was a bit off in the above spoiler.... it's Josuke who finishes off Damo, after all (actually, it's pretty funny to think the guy was still able to run away despite getting stabbed through the skull! :heh:). And poor Norisuke, he ends up going through the worst torture from that guy (getting sliced up by money, that fish thing from last chapter, and now getting burned alive.... yeesh). Also, I found it kinda hilarious that the passerby on the streets showed such a freaking lukewarm reaction to Josuke killing a man in front of them, lol. :p
Anyways.... the Higashikata matriarch, Kaato (I assume the name comes from "card"?). She more or less seems to be the Jojolion version of Jolyne Kujo. I mean, her prison uniform is pretty much the one from Green Dolphin Street (heck, that's probably where she was literally held). It'll definitely be interesting to learn her story....

Damo wasn't human, so it kind of makes sense he was able to survive that blow. I'm more surprised that Norisuke was just fine without his liver. The lack of reactions from the passerbys were pretty funny (as well as Josuke's for not giving a damn about killing a man in broad daylight), they seemed to think Damo was some sort of giant figure.
^That's a good point about Damo surviving those head blows due to being a rock person. Though as far as his actual death goes, you'd think those people would have at least noticed the blood oozing from him before he crumbled apart.... oh well. The only thing that would make that scene funnier is if there were cops present, yet they'd still show that same dull reaction as the other passerby! :heh:
And going back to Mama Higashikata, it just occurred to me: It's a gosh-darned shame that her name isn't Irene....
Translated 56 is out!
And it's a completely Joushuu-focused chapter, interestingly enough. Geez, you'd think that nearly getting killed by Damo would humble the guy a bit, but he's still as much of an asshole as ever, lol. Stealing money, spending it on stuff like buying multiple theater seats for himself (and for a Pirates in the Caribbean movie, at that! :heh:), yet still getting more money in return.... definitely a stand power at work here, I'd say. So I guess the guy whose wallet he pilfered was the original "Milagro Man"....
Anyways, I found this chapter quite enjoyable, needless to say. It really feels like something straight out of part 4. :)
That was a pretty neat chapter. I don't like Joshuu, but he was fun in this chapter. I'm pretty sure I've seen that exact same plot before, it might even have been in Jojo. Wasn't there a chapter in Steel Ball Run where Johnny and Gyro got a lot of money and had to give it away or they would die?

^yeah, that was with a supernatural tree that gave people a choice after they lost something while being in his abilitys range:
-they got to choose between the thing they lost or something far more valuable
-- if you choose the one that is more valuable you turn into a fruit on the tree
-- if you choose the real one and refuse to lie than you get the valuable object too but you MUST give it all away in a fair trade before the day ends otherwise you will become the next guardian of the tree :eyespin:
pretty cool stuff if you ask me :D
That was it! I'm assuming Joshuu is in a similar situation and needs to spend all that money before a certain time limit or he'll be in deep trouble.

Chapter 57 is out and with it the end of the Milagro Man story.
That was a nice little arc. I'm not sure Joshuu truly has learned anything from this experience though.
Man, all things considered, that Milagro Man curse is actually pretty terrifying. Having infinite wealth, yet being unable to actually spend any of it.... I guess you have to be a Scrooge McDuck-level of penny pincher to actually enjoy not crack from all that pressure, huh? :p
Anyways, Joushuu's still as much of an asshole as ever, but I kinda prefer him that way. He's actually kinda been growing on me these past few chapters (make no mistake, he's far from my favorite character, but I don't hate him, either). So I guess next chapter will return to the whole magic fruit/rock people plot....?
Edit: On another note, Milagro also sort of reminds me of the Cheap Trick stand, at least in the sense that it's a burdensome curse that needs to be "passed on"to someone else. At least you didn't have to worry about money with CC, though.... just the risk of someone looking at your back, heh.
Jojolion 58 is here! :D
Well, Josuke's next goal is clear now that his lost memories are back: To cure Holly! And for that, he'll need both money and the power of the Rokakaka fruit....
Meanwhile, mama Kaato returns to the Higashikata household! She really does give off some strong Jolyn vibes, IMO (I wonder if she was even framed for that murder she was convicted for....?). I also find it highly amusing that Joushuu would even act like a total dick towards his own mom, lol. Anyway, at least his little stunt gave us a glimpse of Kaato's stand power (which is related to cards, not string). And of course, Joubin's as suspicious as ever, as well. Perhaps both the mother and son know something about the secret behind the rock people and/or the Rokakaka....?

Spoilers are here:
Norisuke shows off a motorcycle to Josuke. While checking out the bike, Josuke looks through what seems to be the garage's security footage. Here, he discovers a shocking sight: The appearance of yet another rock human! And interestingly, this one seems to have a closer resemblance to Joubin....
Later, while Josuke is out in the town, he receives a letter. But what's particularly eerie is that the envelope doesn't just seem to contain a letter.... but also a tooth! And the oddities don't stop there: For at the end of the chapter, he's suddenly approached by a boy wearing baseball clothes.....
So maybe Mama Higashikata isn't the only reference to Stone Ocean, after all!? :uhoh:

Are we getting reference from the old universe.
Mama is working with her son Joubin, I wonder just how much she knows about his business dealings with the rock humans. The truth about Joubin was revealed to Norisuke, but he has a hard time believing it. Nevertheless, he decides to help Josuke and lets him in on a secret not even his eldest son know.
It seems there is another rock human around but he's in a pretty messed up state. At first, I thought he was the appraiser Josuke is now looking for, but on closer inspection, it doesn't look like him. Not even sure it's a rock human, it looks more like a zombie or something. There are lots of close-up on his teeth, so the tooth in the envelope is most likely his. He might also be the one biting people and giving them stands.
Damn, this was quite the chapter. Strange conspiracies between mother and son, the reveal of a creature who may or may not be another rock human (I think I'm on board with the theory of him being the one leaving bite marks on new stand users, BTW), and now Josuke's apparently being stalked by Not-Emporio..... quite a bit to take in, here. Just too darn bad the series is on hiatus next month.... well, at least the next chapter will make a nice Christmas present! :)
Spoiler pics for the next chapter are out:
The chapter starts with.... some random couple spending time together. Suddenly, the woman rushes off, and her boyfriend gives chase.... only for the girl to suddenly shove him into an electric fence! As the man is fried to a crisp, the woman, who has a strange dead-eyed expression, just walks off like nothing happened....
We then return focus to Joubin and the mystery being who may or may not be a rock human. The creature talks about Damo Tamaki's gang, and it seems that Joubin tells him that they were killed off. He then shows him pictures of Kira, Josefumi, and our protagonist who is the result of the Rokakaka's equivalent exchange. In response, the mystery creature summons his stand:
http://i.imgur.com/Iot8ZrP.jpg
^Looks like we get the character's name, too.... something like Dolemite? Anyway, nice touch with the skull at the crotch area, lol.
Meanwhile, Josuke is still dealing with the kid in the baseball uniform. Oddly enough, the kid keeps walking into a bus sign, which confuses our protagonist. The boy keeps colliding with the sign to the point that he hurts himself, and.... one of his eyes come oozing out of his head....!? :twitch:
^That's it for now. Guess we gotta wait for the translation for the rest of the chapter...
Nice. They are releasing SBR in bunko version. Was thinking they may have given upon releasing bunko version with SO(part 6).
Okay, translation's out!
Man, I still have no idea how that opening scene is related to the current plot... unless the pond man is that dude who got electrocuted? Anyway, looks like he's another result of equivalent exchange, and has become interested in Josuke, thanks to Joubin's influence....
And as for Josuke's situation.... looks like this enemy's stand basically turns people into mindless zombies? As far as zombie stands go, I'm instantly reminded of Limp Bizkit from Stone Ocean, though that ability created invisible zombies. Wonder if this is really the ability of the pond man, though....?
Also, lol at that old lady in the car. I love how her response to seeing a crazy, blood-covered zombie kid beating on her car window.... is to open the window, instead of, you know, keeping it closed or running out of her car to call for help. I found that almost as hilarious as the reaction (or lack thereof) of the people who saw Josuke murder Damo in broad daylight! :heh:
The zombies aren't entirely mindless, since they seem to be tracking Josuke. Anyway, I chuckled a bit when Josuke called it a useless stand, only to be revealed afterward the "disease" can be spread which actually makes it an extremely dangerous stand.
Next chapter's raw is out:
The chapter starts with returned focus on Joubin and his mysterious limbless zombie partner, Dolomiti. They talk a bit, during which Dolomiti's stand is revealed to be named Blue Hawaii. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Hawaii) Meanwhile, Josuke is busy fending off the old lady who turned into a zombie. While defending himself, he makes the connection between the tooth in the envelope and the people who were zombified. He then decides to call for help. The one who answers the call is... Yasuho! It seems he briefs her on the situation, asking her to use her stand's ability. After the call, Josuke finds himself in more trouble.... as a couple more passerby have became zombies. One of them, a fat man, grabs Josuke and drags him off somewhere....
Not a very eventful chapter, it seems.
Dunno about anyone else, but for me the highlight of the chapter was definitely Josuke (well, his stand, anyway) bashing in that old lady's face with a freaking SHOVEL. I mean, I know that woman was already a zombie and all, but damn. :heh:
Also, speaking of that old lady.... I really think we could have used less granny panty shots, Araki. :eyebrow:

Yeah this particular JoJo is quite brutal when it comes to fighting.
It looks like the stand can only control one person at a time. I was surprised the kid was still relatively alright after all this.
Geez, the new chapter release nearly slipped right under my nose! :p
Anyway, this was a hell of a suspenseful chapter, too. We see just how frightening the Blue Hawaii stand truly is (all those poor folks mutilating themselves against their will...). Meanwhile, Yasuho's search for the user makes considerable progress.... only for Joubin to get in the way! Now how will our heroes overcome this deadly ability and get to the bottom of Joubin's conspiracy....!!?
Freaking Joubin. At least he didn't kill Yasuho, thank god.

And damn, Josuke very nearly lost to Blue Hawaii.... thankfully, Yasuho was there to save the day! ;) Still, it bears repeating that BH is a truly frightening power.... being able to control people, babies, even animals as small as bugs.... damn.
Anyway, the enemy user confirmed what we pretty much already knew about Joubin using the Rokakaka for dirty business.... but what's interesting is that he referred to Joubin as a "gofer". In other words, there's a mastermind behind him, after all. His mother, perhaps....?

Very nearly? He straight up lost that fight. He only survived because Dolomite wasn't expecting the Yashuo Inquisition.
Very nearly? He straight up lost that fight. He only survived because Dolomite wasn't expecting the Yashuo Inquisition.
I only say "very nearly" in the meaning that Josuke at least had the good sense to contact Yasuho for help in the first place during the fight. Otherwise, I agree 100% that he was completely at Dolomite's mercy (and would have been screwed even further if Joubin hadn't decided to spare Yasuho). After all, it's pretty telling how desperate our hero was to carefully plan out a last-minute strategy for swatting a fly, lol. :heh:
Josuke utterly lost this one. It was pretty awesome to see Yasuho coming to his rescue. Not the first time she saved his butt, but she was mostly playing a support role in the battles until now.
As for the mastermind, it's most likely the guy we once saw in a flashback. The one with long blonde hair. I can't remember which chapter that was in though.
Next chapter is out!
So, we learn a bit of Joubin's past, the reason why his mother was arrested, and that there's a "new type" of Rokakaka, which is what our hero ate. And at the end of the chapter, the fruit appraiser finally appears! The mystery behind those fruits deepen even further....!!!
Joubin's childhood was pretty fucked up. We know why it's still close to his mother now, she did it all for him.

The plant appraiser is a pretty ... unique guy. The party is followed by something that can make trees rotate but there is absolutely no clue to be found on who the enemy is so far.
Alrighty, next chapter's here!
Well now, the plant appraiser most certainly proved himself to be quite the character.... him living on a ski lift makes me think that he's like the alternate version of the Superfly stand user from part 4, though the lift itself isn't his stand. And I wonder if it really is a rock human who's manipulating those trees....?
Chapter 66 is out!
And man, Rai just becomes more fascinating by the second. Sure, he may be kind of a dick at some points (can't say I approve of what he did to Yasuho at the end there), but I still can't bring myself to hate him for some reason. Still, his stand basically feels like Stone Free 2.0.... well, let's see if he can make any particularly unique uses of it, I guess.
And boy, that new enemy stand is another frightening one. So it's basically like some deadly bacteria or something.... Definitely wonder how this one can be beaten, since it looks to be an automatic-type stand (which are usually controlled from a great distance)....
"Dickhead" was a rather apt description of Rai by Yasuho. She had no idea how much.
I don't think he's evil per say, he just strikes me as a guy who'd do anything to survive, even if it means sacrificing others.
Chapter 67 has arrived!
So, despite being knocked off the lift, Yasuho still proved to be an invaluable asset in this battle.... as thanks to her, the enemy stand user(s) have finally been revealed: A freaky pair of rock humans....!!!
More rock humans. What are they and where the hell do they come from?

Jousuke jumps down to help Natsuho, who uses her stand to find a bedrock area. The pair barely escapes the rock human but they split up with the bacteria guy getting ahead to the 7th pole to surprise the plant appraiser!
Translated 68 is here!
So, it turns out there aren't just rock humans.... but rock animals, as well! And just when Josuke and Yasuho think they've got the enemy's plan figured out, Rai ends up getting cornered by the human's stand ability! Can he survive this battle....!!?

Didn't we know there were rock animals because of the dog?
Rai looks pretty screwed, but this is Jojo, so anything can happen. It seems like he's not such an asshole after all, since he thought better of Josuke after he disobeyed him and went to save Yasuho.

I guess we agreed the rock humans are the main antagonists of part 8 at least till their leader appear. Are they this universe version of the Pillar Men?
Meant to comment on the new chapter earlier, but I was busy at the time. Anyway, the battle against Urban Guerilla and his "pet" intensifies! UB indicates that the rock people have a greater purpose for the Rokakaka fruits beyond wealth and longevity.... and that normal humans technically aren't "compatible" with them. Maybe the fruits are something like the Red Stone of Aja for the rock people....?
BTW, I loved Rai's stunt where he sling-shots a fork into UB's eye, lol. But now it looks like it's Josuke alone who must take on the two rock creatures (who fused together!).....
I hadn't thought that the Rokakaka fruits could be like the Red Stone of Aja for the rock humans. Maybe we'll get an ultimate life form as a final boss once again. I doubt it though.
Next chapter is here! :D
Well, it was certainly a tough battle, but Josuke and Rai manage to take down Urban Guerilla and his pet through a clever team tactic! Interestingly, before his demise, UG mentions that Kira made better use of the Rokakaka than Damo's gang did, who only wanted to exploit the fruits for financial gain. After the battle, Rai reveals his method to grow a new fruit, which is through the use of bugs....
Meanwhile, Joubin meets up with (presumably) a new enemy rock human: A.... tiny old man? The new enemy wants Joubin to cooperate with him in order to keep Josuke's group from harvesting the Rokakaka, which involves closing off the Higashikata estate. Amusingly, while in the middle of discussing his plan, Tom (the new enemy) gets hit on by some random chick (who I guess has a fetish for little people, lol :heh:). Looks like Josuke's gang are gonna have their hands full again....
Poor Tom is pretty funny. He seems to be quite the ladies' man despite his appearance.
Interesting that Urban Guerilla was a doctor.
Next chapter's here!
This one is particularly interesting as it mainly gives us a flashback of Yasuho's past. Long story short, it turns out she encountered the rock creatures earlier than she initially thought.....
That was a very interesting chapter, and a nice break from all the action. It feels like Yasuho meeting Jousuke was destiny. Holly and Kira seemed to both know about the rock lifeforms.
Next chapter's here!
So, we finally get a bit of insight into Joubin's ambitions, Josuke and Rai are preparing to harvest the fruit, and we finally see Poor Tom's stand in action..... with Tsurugi and his doggie being the first victims of its ability!
....And of course, the series has to go on break after such a cliffhanger. Dang it Araki, you're killing me! :heh:
Another dog to add to the list.
It was revealed Joubin doesn't have bad intentions and he's now been double crossed, he will probably join the good guys after this.
And after a break, the next chapter's here!
So, we find out how Poor Tom's ability works.... man, Ozone Baby is a pretty frightening power. Joubin has also made it pretty clear now that he's not on the rock peoples' side, but is looking out for his family in his own way.... so it looks like he may eventually become Josuke's ally, after all. But now, they must focus on ending Ozone Baby's menace....!!!
Oh, and somehow, it looks like Iwasuke (the dog) is still alive, after all? Guess Araki's feeling lenient towards the poochies this time around? :p

Don't be fooled, Araki still hate dogs.:frustrated:
The dog is most likely dead by now. Araki just wanted him to suffer before killing him off.
I wonder how they're going to beat Ozone baby. The ability is pretty OP. I'm actually more curious about the extent of Speed King's ability though.
New chapter time!
It's a pretty epic one, too! Joubin torches the orchard to lure out enemy and ally alike! In the end, it's Rai (protected by Josuke's bubble) who goes to harvest the branch in the middle of the inferno, but Poor Tom himself has arrived to complicate matters! Who will emerge victorious....!?
Oh, and apparently the dog does have a surviving chance after all! He'd be able to withstand Ozone Baby's attack if he becomes a statue, it looks like. Still, while that's all well and good for the doggy, things are not looking as good for the rest of the Higashikatas (poor Daiya and Hato :()....
Yeah, I was surprised they mentioned the dog might have survived. They mentioned him turning to stone, so is he a rock animal?
I liked seeing father and son working together. Although I'm still rooting for Josuke to get the branch of course.
That time of the month is here!
And man, the Poor Tom battle is even more intense than ever! Josuke comes up with a clever strategy to poison the enemy stand user, but that doesn't stop Poor Tom from strengthening the pressurization.... which looks to have resulted in the brutal end of our plant appraiser friend. :( Now it's up to Josuke alone to take down Poor Tom before he escapes with the branch.....!!!!
....Just too bad there's a break next month. Dammit, Araki! You and your cliffhangers...!!! :frustrated:
New chapter out. The dog is alive!! And Rai as well, apparently.
Even with Joubin reminding us of Tsurugi's abilities, I'm still confused over what happened. Anyway, Joubin's plan worked perfectly, he got the branch and completely fooled Jousuke.
Damn, Joubin played everybody... it really was his victory. And it looks like Poor Tom got betrayed by his fellow rock humans. Speaking of, I like how this is yet ANOTHER case of one of those guys getting killed in broad daylight, yet there seems to be no reaction from anybody (surely, those other ambulances/firetrucks must have had regular humans in them, no? Did they not notice a man's head exploding in front of them!?) :heh:
Anyway, Rai and the dog survived! Yay! Now I wonder if the next chapter will return focus to Yasuho and her research on the rock lifeforms....
Reread the chapter, what happened is a lot more clear to me. I understand why there was a focus on Rai's eyes now: he wasn't touched by the origami since they thought he was dead and he saw everything! It's all a matter of how long it will take him to recover now.
Next chapter's out!
Quite an interesting one, as well. Our plant appraiser friend is indeed alive and well (and has apparently already recovered to perfect condition.... yeah). After briefing the Higashikatas on the situation, Josuke and Rai decide to chase after those ambulance drivers, but not before Rai voices his suspicious about Joubin.... he knows that he was the one who started the fire. And now only ten days remain until the next Rokakaka fruit can be harvested....
Meanwhile, at the hospital, Joubin's wife Mitsuba gets herself checked on by a rather shady doctor. Judging from the examination, it sounds like she's had her share of Rokakaka treatments herself! The doctor then offers her an expensive cure for her ailments, which she seems more than willing to take. And as it turns out, Yasuho catches sight of Mitsuba at that very hospital, where.... her legs have become crumbling stone...!!? :twitch:
Oh, and I loved the scene where (nearly) everybody ignored Joushuu's silly business idea. Well, at least Daiya is there for him, heh. :p
Rai didn't see Joubin after all, but he still strongly suspects him.
The "doctor" conned Mitsuba pretty hard. To think she initially came in just because her breasts were sagging.
New month, new chapter!
And boy, this one really cranks up the weirdness factor! Despite Josuke's warning to escape the hospital, Yasuho decides to confront Mitsuba about her condition and the doctor (whose name is revealed to be Uu Tomoki). Suddenly, during their talk, a stand attack occurs! Yasuho is knocked out, and Mitsuba.... turns to be fused with the doctor!? :twitch:
That was one tense chapter. Yasuho should have waited for Jousuke and Rai like they told her.
And the next chappy is here!
Well, we got a major hint of what Mitsuba exchanged with the Rokakaka's powers..... and if it's true, that's one hell of a price. Though on the other hand, it looks like she's awakened her stand, as well....
Also, poor Yasuho. She keeps getting swept up into all these strange situations where someone tries to kill or violate her. And now someone tried to accomplish both those tasks on her with pebbles of all things!? :eyespin:
Yasuho can't catch a break. She was almost raped by rocks.
If Mitsuba really lost her baby, then that's pretty dark.
New chap! Man, that doctor's one creepy dude. Apparently, his ability is just scattering those tiny fragments around. On the other hand, we learn more about Mitsuba's stand! Its name is Awaking III Leaves (no idea what song that references though), and it unleashes arrows that move around energy! Sounds like a pretty cool and useful power to me! But man, those tiny arms at the end..... that's just disturbing as hell. :twitch:
Edit: BTW, I dunno about anyone else, but the doctor constantly saying "Uu Tomoki never fails" brought to my mind Parker Lewis Can't Lose. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parker_Lewis_Can%27t_Lose) Not sure if anyone around here remembers (or is even familiar with) that show, though! :heh:

I do remember that show! It was pretty popular over there when it aired. Didn't make the connection though.
Anyway, Mitsuba's stand is pretty cool, and a good counter to Uu's ability.
That time of month is here! And this is quite an informative chapter, too. Not only do we get a more detailed explanation of rock humans/creatures right from the get-go, but now we finally get an idea of how the Rokakaka's equivalent exchange works. And Uu just so happens to cheat that exchange with his stand ability, heh. Anyway, we're also introduced to an ex-boyfriend of Yasuho's, who's TOTALLY not suspicious. No siree, definitely not.
Last chapter of the year is out! Man, that Wu (guess that's the official spelling now) is one frightening opponent. Thankfully, Josuke finally arrived to save the day! However, they now realize the "new" Rokakaka branch is not in the hospital, but thankfully, Yasuho seems to have a pretty good grasp of who the true plant pilferer is....
BTW, I'm actually kinda surprised that Yasuho's ex apparently didn't try to stop the Josuke/Rai duo (unless he planted some hidden stand ability on them from off-screen). I also found it interesting how Mitsuba described the Rokakaka's taste (I remember Norisuke mentioned a while back that the fruits smelled like figs.... neat to see that referenced again here!). I'm still a bit unclear about her equivalent exchange, though..... does it mean that her unborn child will survive, after all? Guess we gotta wait a bit to find out for certain...

That's what the end of the chapter implied, yes. She had nothing else that needed to be "fixed", so if she lost her nose, that means her child came back to life.
The way Josuke got rid of Wu so easily was pretty anticlimactic. The fight was over as soon as he used his stand.
First chapter of the year is out! Looks like Josuke is set on searching for the head doctor rather than focusing on Joubin right away. And it turns out that Tooru (Yasuho's ex) helped out him and Rai, after all. We still can't be certain if that guy's a friend or foe, though....
Meanwhile, something's up with Tsurugi..... it appears that his stand powers are going out of control. Not only does it seem that he fatally attacked a kid at his school, but even his own grandfather....,!!? :twitch:
Unfortunately, we'll have to wait a couple months to find out what's up with the kid as the series is on break next month. Oh, well.....
Finally read the chapter. I felt bad for Yasuho. Rai and Jousuke completely dismissed what she said.
What is going on with Tsurugi? Attacking classmates who insulted his family is one thing, but Norisuke too?! Curious to find out how things reached this point.
Break's over, so we have a new chapter! And the dots are starting to connect, as well.... it seems the head doctor of the hospital is connected to Tsurugi's incident at the school. Perhaps this means he's involved with Norisuke's situation, as well? And once again, Yasuho's ex becomes more and more suspicious..... how did he know Josuke's gang was searching for the doctor when they didn't tell him so? It's very much possible he's just a red herring, but his presence is still quite questionable, without a doubt (and frankly, it feels like more than a coincidence for the 89 year old doctor to suddenly appear as soon as Tooru points him out)....
BTW, I'm liking Mitsuba even more, now. Loved that little stunt she pulled with the coffee mugs when she left the school conference! :heh:
Tooru is way too fishy to just be a red herring at this point. Even Josuke noticed it was odd he ran into them like that.
That time of month is upon us! The first part of the chapter involves Mitsuba discussing Tsurugi's situation with Joubin, who isn't worried about the child. Interestingly, it seems he's turned on by his wife's new nose (kinda weird he wanted to do her with bugs crawling on their bed, though :heh:). During their chat, Mitsuba briefly spots the head doctor of the hospital before suddenly cutting her hand. It's at this point that she discovers her hubby hoarding the Rokakaka plant....
Meanwhile, at the hospital, Josuke's group are chasing after the head doctor, but he always seems to be one step ahead of them. During the chase, Josuke discovers that Yasuho's ex Tooru left her a message: He wants to get back together with her! It's at this point that Rai discovers they've been ensnared in the enemy's trap all along.... as his constant collision with various objects has led to his legs tearing apart.....!!!!
Yikes, it's looking more and more like Tooru's the enemy, all right! But whether this his handiwork or not, this threat has now targeted the Higashikata estate, as well.... which is most likely how Norisuke ended up in such a sorry state from a couple chapters back.... :uhoh:
The old man they're chasing is obviously a mirage, I'm surprised they haven't figured that out already. To be fair to them, we do have information they don't have, like him showing up at a completely different location at the same time.
Joubin is... weird :heh:
New chapter! Josuke's group are forced to temporarily halt their pursuit of the head doctor due to the constant stand attacks. They decide to split up for now, and it's at this point that Tooru makes another move on Yasuho.....
Meanwhile, that one rich parent who Mitsuba insulted a while back is hanging out with her money-stealing boy toy, Ohjirou (who was an early enemy in the series!). The lady reveals her ambition to take the Higashikata estate for herself, and mentions an unsavory rumor about Joubin. Ohjirou shows interest in the story, particularly because of a certain familiar fruit.....
BTW, I dunno if that was a cigarette butt that Josuke blocked during the chase, but if it was..... damn, that thing must've flown at him with the force of a friggin' bullet to make him bleed like that, lol. :heh:
Until I read your post, I had totally forgotten the guy at the end appeared earlier in the series. If Araki brought back a guy from this far back, then I doubt he's forgotten about Karera like some people thought.
The ever suspicious Tooru will no doubt have some conditions for testifying, and it's not hard to guess what it'll be. I hope Yasuho will be smart.
BTW, I dunno if that was a cigarette butt that Josuke blocked during the chase, but if it was..... damn, that thing must've flown at him with the force of a friggin' bullet to make him bleed like that, lol. :heh:
Wasn't it a part of the bus that detached itself?
It's that time again! And this time, the surfer dude is on the prowl.... by harassing Tsurugi. He then literally uses the child to "invade" the Higashikata estate and attempts to steal the fruit! How will Joubin handle this.....!?
Wasn't it a part of the bus that detached itself?
I thought that at first, myself (and it does make more sense), but it still looked kinda like a cigarette butt to me.... well, whatevs. Now we've got a creepy puppeteer surfer guy to deal with in addition to the mysterious doctor.....
Oujirou is turning out to be much more of a pain than I thought he'd be.
Next chap's here! It's a really awesome one, too! It really seemed like Oujirou won the battle.... only to have the Joubin/Tsurugi duo completely turn the tables on him. And honestly, I'd say he had it coming considering he was more than willing to brutally murder a kid together with his parent....
Also, we see Oujirou's girlfriend also become a target of Joubin's revenge. But I think my favorite part of all was the lady's daughter seeming completely indifferent to her mother's death (it might be more likely she didn't notice since she was listening to music, but it wouldn't exactly be the first time people in this series ignored murder in broad daylight, heh :heh:).
Soft & wet is a really good counter for Speed King, isn't it? It could just extract the build up heat with its bubbles.
And in this month's chapter, Josuke's pursuit of the head doctor continues! Except, it turns out the very act of "pursuing" that doctor is the very weapon being used against him and his friends! And if that weren't enough, he has the police to worry about, as well! Just how can such a deadly stand power be defeated....!?
Actually, come to think of it.... this ability seems kinda similar to Killer Queen's Bites the Dust (in the sense that it activates when an enemy tries to expose the user). Could this potentially be a "final boss" stand....?
This is one of the trickiest automatic stand in the series. You usually have to go after the user to beat them, but even the mere decision of going after him activates the attack. The stand can use anything to attack, too.
New month, new chap! Josuke hatches his own plan to pursue the head doctor.... alone and gravely injured, no less. Meanwhile, Yasuho hangs out with Tooru, who shows her a photo of the head doctor. And with him is.... Mitsuba!? :uhoh:
BTW, that's some..... interesting facial hair the old doc has, there! :heh:
Damn, I was really close to beating you to the punch this time!! :p
Jousuke took a huge gamble, here's hoping it will pay off. No idea what Mitsuba being on a picture with head doctor means. She can't possibly be related to him, right? Surely, she would have mentioned it.
Damn, I was really close to beating you to the punch this time!! :p
Heh, better luck next time! :heh:
BTW, I also found Tooru's story about electricity flying in the air to be rather interesting.... maybe Yasuho can use that idea as a power up for her Paisley Park?
Next chapter's here, and the situation intensifies even further! The head doctor is targeting the Higashikata family, and poor Tsurugi is taking the most punishment out of them by far! Meanwhile, Josuke manages to wake up in the hospital in time for the doctor's lecture, but makes the fatal error of making his "intent to pursue" known. Will he survive this ordeal....!?
BTW, I really like how Mitsuba treated her own injuries with her stand ability. Truly shows how versatile it is. :)
Yep, that's a good ability that Mitsuba's got. Hope the Higashikata family will do better than against Hato's "boyfriend".
New chapter out. Jousuke got unexpected help, in the form of Holy! Turns out the Head director has been testing Locacaca/Rokakaka formulas on her and that's the reason she's sick. The equivalent exchange for Locacaca is turning random body parts into stone... sounds familiar.
This was an awesome chapter! Not only did Holly save her son and reveal to him the secrets of the Rokakaka, she also gave him an important hint as to how to take down the head doctor! As long as he focuses on pursuing the fruits, he should be unaffected by the doctor's ability! Now, it truly looks like we're entering the endgame....!!!

It does seem like we're approaching the end, but it's really hard to gauge how many chapters are remaining. It will probably end up being even longer than SBR in the end. Speaking of which, which volume is the Japanese publication at?
Awesome chapter nonetheless;
The build up all this time is worth it while Josuke resolve, liquidified Rokakaka and Head Doctor name reveal easily define we're entering the endgame.
I love how OP-ness of Head Doctor's Stand can be teared by simple logic, "You can getting close to him as long you're not going after him but something else related to him".
Look forward to how the remaining casts drawn to this progress as Josuke launch his attack to him
Last chapter of the year is here! Yasuho searches the Higashikata house for the Rokakaka branch, and tries to reach out to Tsurugi.... however, she's stopped in her tracks by papa Joubin! Only a little over three hours remain until the new fruit harvest....!!!
Getting rid of a stand by flushing it down the toilet might be a first.
^Yeah, death by swirlie is certainly a.... unique way to kill someone, to say the least. If a bit on the humiliating side, though (even moreso if Joubin flushed that phone down a high school toilet, lol :heh:). And speaking of doomed characters, I believe we're not far off from Norisuke's apparent demise as well, yes....?
First chapter of the year is out! And my goodness, the situation gets more chaotic by the second. Now not only Yasuho, but probably the whole Higashikata family are in danger, now. I'm kinda disappointed that Mitsuba was about to betray Yasuho, though. I know she was doing it to protect her family and all, but still.... :(
BTW, is it just me, or is that one really slowly flushing toilet? I mean, if Mitsuba had to use her stand to plunge Yasuho further down the drain.... :heh:
Oh, and the series is on break next month, so we gotta wait till March for the next chapter. Just a heads up!
Yasuho lost an entire arm. Rai can patch himself up, but I don't think we've seen him do that with others. I probably forgot that someone else's got a healing stand (this part will soon be the longest ever, will it?).
And yeah, I'm disappointed with Mitsuba.
Next chapter's finally out, fresh from the break! Long story short, Joubin goes way beyond the point of no return....!!!! :uhoh:

at this point I believe Jorbin is the villain of part 8, a tragic one.
Killing his father to save his son... couldn't Joubin simply incapacitate Norisuke? It's not like Norisuke had a fighting type stand, I don't think it would have been hard. Only had to wait until sundown to feed Tsurugi the fruit, too.
Yasuho is saved for now but she's still missing an arm.
New chapter time! The first half involves Rai making clever use of the head doctor's stand to bust out of prison. Meanwhile, Yasuho finally gets in contact with someone willing to help her..... the oh-so-totally-not-suspicious-at-all Tooru-kun! Back to the Higashikata family, we learn that Norisuke's not quite dead yet, after all. However, Tsurugi's condition gets worse by the minute! The fact that the head doctor's stand finally broke into the house (and whom only Mitsuba can see) doesn't help matters, either. Will the family be able to survive this ordeal....?! :uhoh:
So Norisuke isn't dead after all. Talk about misleading.
The head doctor stand is turning out to be one of the most OP in Jojo history. Not only is it an automatic stand that appears to be impossible to beat, it actively protects its owner's identity (getting to them is usually the way to beat an automatic stand), can show up at multiple places at the same time, and apparently can even go on the attack. Rai has found a way to exploit its behavior to move around, but he still can't do anything about it.
Next chapter's out, and it's an exciting one, too! The first half involves Joubin getting caught in a deadly "calamity" of his own. Meanwhile, Josuke sets a clever plan in motion in order to draw out the head doctor! But most importantly, the end of the chapter strongly implies that Tooru may indeed be the user of this deadly stand, after all! And now only a little over two hours remain until the new Rokakaka can be harvested.....!!!!
Going back to Tooru, that dude is one hell of a psycho to focus on dancing with all this chaos going on around him. I mean, wasn't he supposed to be helping Yasuho (you know, the girl who's currently dying)? On the other hand, it looks like his device may hint at his stand's name: Crazy Train. Also, that poor reporter.... a broken neck is a hell of a price to pay just to get rid of some acne.... :(
Any clue when Jojolion will end?
It's has been running for 9 years, i wish Araki finish Jojolion and start ninth part already.

CMIIW in one of interview Araki said we're entering last arc around time Head Doctor suspected to be Stand User.
I'd say unless Jobin insist on keeping the Rokakaka to himself, Head Doctor and Tohru will stay as the final boss candidate of JoJolion.
Some speculate Head Doctor's Stand probably will be named Crazy Train to draw parallel to Crazy Diamond (as this Josuke technically using Killer Queen and Stray Cat) and Love Train (ability to redirect misfortune, or in this case, calamity).
:D
Joubin should by all means be dead given the amount of blood he lost, but this is Jojo, so...
^Well, I guess he could use the fruit to recover from his injuries, but that would ultimately mean sacrificing his son and father..... unless the "evolved" fruit can heal multiple people at once, I guess. I suppose another option for him is to cauterize his own wounds with his stand to prevent further blood loss, but it sorta feels a little too late for that, lol. :heh:

I was actually surprised he didn't do just that when he noticed the wound. Too shocked, I suppose.
Next chapter's here! The head doctor stand and Josuke finally directly confront each other... and though Josuke claims he has a plan to defeat the stand, the doctor reveals some new tricks of his own! Meanwhile, as Tooru searches for the fruit, it turns out to be in the hands of Joushuu..... who also intends to save Yasuho. How will the tides turn for our heroes now that the battle is finally out in the open....!?
OMG ...
The HD is Stand, but how? Isn't Stand supposed to be invisible to normal people?
It seems to be way above all autonomous stand we saw in Jojo before as well, like being split of the user itself rather than an extension of user's strong will like Chariot Requiem;
I love how Tooru define the calamity Stand as "something not even someone flawless--a saint, able to avoid".
The comparison easily goes to Love Train; theory that HD Stand name probably Crazy Train seems the closest to truth now. Considering the doctor is said to be 89 years old, I guess this Stand "created" from Holy Corpse when Johnny used it to heal both his wife and son.
Then again, this Stand doesn't look same with Tooru's that shown having blade like Kars before. A two-in-one Stand?
OMG ...
The HD is Stand, but how? Isn't Stand supposed to be invisible to normal people?
It seems to be way above all autonomous stand we saw in Jojo before as well, like being split of the user itself rather than an extension of user's strong will like Chariot Requiem;
It's definitely a rather unique stand. Visible to normal people, can switch between automatic and manual, can show up at multiple places at once...
Not the fist time we have a visible stand though. The boat of the Ape in part 3 was visible for that one girl that never showed up again, too. There are probably other examples but I can't think of any.
New month, new chapter! The first half is quite interesting indeed, as it further explains the biology of rock humans (and apparently, the Stone Mask and stand arrows may be related to them somehow?). Furthermore, it confirms that Tooru is one of them, not that it's surprising. The second half features a flashback from Rai's past, revealing that he had a prior, though tragic, connection to the head doctor stand during his childhood! We then return to the present where Josuke and Rai continue to battle the doctor and his rock insect, the latter of which Rai is familiar with! Looks like our plant appraiser friend may be the best suited to exterminating the bug, though I sure hope this doesn't mean he sacrifices his life to do so.... :uhoh:
BTW, looks like we finally got the doctor stand's name: Wonder of U. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wonder_of_You) I had the impression that Araki hinted at the name being Crazy Train a couple chapters back (felt more fitting too IMO), but looks like that wasn't the case....
Yeah, this chapter expands a lot; explained there are two kinds of human being in JoJo-verse. Normal human (e.g. Joestars, DIO) and Rock human (e.g. Ermes? Enya? Tooru).
From what I understand, Rock humans live with nature and possess extraordinary power that seems to be either above average strength (implied by Stone Mask, looks like Pillar Men is Rock humans considering how Santana left behind by Kars) or being natural-born Stand user (implied by Stand Arrow, kinda explain why Enya and her son are distinct compare to other DIO minions if both are rock human); thus human figure with both Stone Mask and Stand Arrow.
Rai flashback and HD answer implied Tooru is on hunt of normal human with access to new Rokakaka. Considering his explanation about electric signal to Yasuho also HD announcing Rokakaka as greatest medicine ever despite it's equivalent trade, his motives probably because he didn't want more normal humans tapped into what 'belongs' to Rock humans and look forward to bring age of Rock humans.

I don't think we can apply what we learned in this chapter to the previous Jojo Universe. Previous Enya was a normal human.

Well, how Araki explained it remind me back then Enya and her son feels abnormal to me, in comparison to other DIO minions; yeah, logically 'silicon-based creature' on previous universe would be only Pillar Man.
Aside that, Wonder of U probably the most busted normal Stand we got so far.
It has certain degree of sentience, long distance automatic ability that any move toward him is almost guaranteed death sentence. Made me curious how Josuke and Rai will be able to win as their Stand considerably weak to confront such main villain in comparison to previous JoJo main protagonist.
:heh:

Other than her son having two left hands and being fucking ugly, I don't see how they were different from the others.
It'd be interesting to see Araki explore the connection between the stone masks, the arrows, and the rock humans in the next part. It was also shown that Lucy was investigating them, so something has to come out of that (or not).
Forgot to bring it up before, but the impression I had was that Araki showed Enya and Hermes as examples of people who WEREN'T rock humans. I mean yeah, Enya and her son looked a bit freaky with their pairs of right hands, but the Jojoverse isn't exactly lacking in terms of odd "normal" humans, either.
Anyhoo, Jojolion's 100th chapter is here! As expected, Rai turned out to be instrumental in destroying Dadada (aka the rock bug)! He even comes close to harming Wonder of U himself.... until calamity strikes again (from Josuke's own weapons, no less)! And yet, despite this setback, Rai reveals there's hope within this moment of despair, as it turns out the true key to defeating the doctor lies in a certain throwback to SBR....!!!!!
But go figure the series would be on break following such a huge cliffhanger, lol. :heh: Really looking forward to October's chapter!
That was a nice surprise for the 100th chapter. I didn't think the Spin was ever going to come back, to be honest.
^Come to think of it, with all the throwbacks we had to the previous Jojo parts these last couple chapters, I wonder if Araki will go full circle and bring back the Ripple as a final power-up for Josuke.....?
Stand + Spin + Ripple? Overkill much? :heh:
The Spin is pretty much meant to be the Ripple of this universe, so no, I really don't think so.
Man, this 100th chapter is lit.
Jobros curse strikes back, not with vain as Rai told Josuke about 'spinning' lines; will we see the golden ratio once again?
It made me curious though, such as:
- How could Tohru define Wonder of U ability as, first, something that not even saint will be able to avoid it; now, flow of events. The head doctor age specific 89 years old background make it made sense if he once saw Holy Corpse used by Johnny somehow.
- Rai knows about Spin. Could it be Rai is one of Zeppeli descendant that said to be migrates after Naples fall in the end of SBR?
Reading it again, I guess the reason why Rai saying such turn of events is blessing due to he realized Wonder of U unintentionally triggering Spin following his attack to the Stand. For Wonder of U to escape that event, the bubbles have to ignore Josuke control and setup beforehand, resulting on Spin which shown in SBR to be able to bypass even D4C Love Train at its best.
Aaaaand.... we're back from break! This next chapter chiefly focuses on Yasuho's side, where a traumatized Joushuu does the unthinkable: he feeds her one of the nearly-ripened fruits! It indeed performs its miracle work on her, though the equivalent exchange doesn't turn out as Joushuu had hoped....
Also, this chapter confirms once and for all that Wonder of U is Tooru's stand. And speaking of stands, I think it's safe to assume that Yasuho's Paisley Park will get a power-up due to the fruit.....?
Yasuho has figured out Tooru is the culprit and she's back to full strength. Kind of disappointed we didn't stick with Jousuke after last time's big reveal.

LOL at how Joshuu wanted a fusion with Yasuho like Josefumi and Kira became Josuke, ended up losing his right arm; after all, Kira is dead so a fusion happened.
This confirmation also told that Wonder of U range of misfortune at least going as far as one city (assuming its maximum range of how far the stand can move freely). Not a global level like The World or King Crimson, but serious enough for Jojolion setting.
Well, with how the exchange done between Yasuho and Joshuu, most likely after this Paisley Park right hand will became different and have a portion of Joshuu's stand ability on it.
New chappy is here! Well, it turns out Yasuho had a longer history with Tooru than we thought (and on that note, we finally learn the truth behind the "head doctor"). And despite Tooru's warnings about her getting killed by the flow of calamity, she still decides to risk everything by trying to reach Josuke.... with the help of a certain maid....!!!!
Also, HUGE lol at her almost completely ignoring Joushuu, even when he starts going berserk! :heh: He kinda deserves it for being a jerk, though (let's not forget he tried to RAPE Yasuho at one point ).
if Tooru isn't the main villain, then I don't know how the main real villain can top Tooru's as a villain at this moment.
Tooru's stand is absolutely broken. It made The World and other final villain Stands look like a joke.

Honestly Araki needs to just kill off Joshuu now.

Can you imagine what Diavolo would do with Wonder of U?
Yasuho had her stand since her childhood? It wasn't her result of the bite?
Nice to see Kira/Jousuke's sister finally returning.

I really didn't expect Araki would do this.
D4C 'nerfed' so it have limitation of two spaces;
Wonder of U? Nah, range of a town, stealing old man identity for 5+ years, able to focused the misfortune for instant kill (as if it's not dangerous enough); all Tooru need is feeling threatened while he himself able to stay calm, not a paranoid like Diavolo.
:heh:

I think it's another case of Kakyoin / Hierophant Green.
Kakyoin confirmed to have it since childhood but never really understand such power until teenager, not long until he recruited by DIO.
I guess in Yasuho case, she always have the potential but lays dormant until the bite, otherwise she will live just like normal girls.
Honestly Araki needs to just kill off Joshuu now.
I'm actually kind of wondering if this is what Araki is aiming for with this new equivalent exchange.... Yasuho has Joushuu's arm now, so perhaps if she were to trigger Wonder of U's ability at this point, the flow of calamity would be redirected towards the arm's original owner, rather than its new recipient. And in all honesty.... I'd rather Joushuu be the dead one instead of Joubin, lol. :heh:

Doubt it will work like that even if it recognized as someone else arm.
Joubin died from spray can pipe piercing his neck, Rai got hole on his body; unless there's a way to tell how the calamity happens, the arm ownership won't help much.
:heh:
Last chapter of the year's out, baby! And we return to Josuke vs. Wonder of U! Things start to turn grim for our hero as he gets further caught within the flow of calamity..... until the arrival of his (half) sister Kei, who helps him finally land the first direct blow on the enemy stand....!!!!! :D
Still, I'm pretty worried about that airplane panel from the beginning of the chapter. Is that to be the calamity headed for Yasuho? :uhoh:
It seems that Born This Way is the perfect counter to Wonder of U.
Born This Way is an automatic stand that has no thought. It just chases his target and Wonder of U can't attack something that has no ill thought to the owner.
It seems that Born This Way is the perfect counter to Wonder of U.
Born This Way is an automatic stand that has no thought. It just chases his target and Wonder of U can't attack something that has no ill thought to the owner.
Intent doesn't matter. It is the very act of chasing that triggers the calamity, with those closer to harming Tooru being the first on the list.
Alright, first chapter of the year, baby! So Tooru finally realizes the dangers of facing Josuke, and focuses on the fruit instead! And as he nabs the pot, the airplane panel from last chapter finally appears! However, Josuke won't let Wonder of U get away so easily, as he fires off another spinning bubble at the enemy stand! And apparently, the source of that spinning power is.... his birthmark!? :uhoh:
And damn, just as she reappears, it looks like it's over for Kei just like that. :( And yet somehow, Rai is still able to speak to Josuke from beyond the grave....? :eyespin:
Curious what Araki is trying to tell.
Feels like he skip two or three exposition so Josuke can understand the meaning of spin told by Rai as well as Joestar birthmark.
Kinda suspected Born This Way wouldn't be immune to Wonder of U, but not like this
Hell, she took something close to a deathblow its a wonder she still have consciousness to tell Josuke taking risk to pursue Tooru.
The way Rai describes the Spin is quite mysterious. Something that isn't from this world and therefore doesn't follow its logic? Johnny could certainly do crazy stuff with it, but I don't think I remember it being said it was an otherworldly power. Maybe I'm getting my hopes up too much, but perhaps Araki is about to explain to us the relationship between the post part 6 and the pre part 6 universe. If that's the case though, I expect it to be handled in the next part.
Ceh, so much for Born This Way being perfect counter to Wonder of U. :heh:
I should feel bad for even thinking that.
Next chapter's here! The battle intensifies further as Wonder of U unleashes his latest weapon upon Josuke: A new rock bug known as Obladi Oblada! (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ob-La-Di,_Ob-La-Da) The creatures converge upon our hero at the same time the airplane panel descends upon Yasuho! However, as all hope seems lost, it seems that Josuke's bubbles may bring about yet another miracle?! Unfortunately, we must wait two months before finding out.....
Also, I dunno about anyone else, but those "insects" looked an awful lot like cookies to me, heh. :heh: And apparently, the new Spin may be a result of Killer Queen's influence? At least, that's my takeaway on the "Explosive Spin"....
My taking about it is that fuse between Josefumi and Kira should be impossible (as shown by Yasuho and Joshu, I guess this is why Araki gave such panels to Joshu rant before) thus it requires "miracle" to fuse them as something naturally works together.
However as Josefumi paid it with his life as equivalent exchange stand, the "miracle" allowed. Not to mention it also Josefumi most sincere wish compare to Joshu reasoning.
This "miracle" works against Tooru as Wonder 4 U and its law bending nature can only control something within realm of possibilities. Tooru can't deny something that naturally impossible thus while Wonder 4 U can hurt Josuke, it can't affect birthmark-generated bubble past effort to alter its trajectory.
I have to admit that finger gun looks great in Jojo.
I always love the Part 7 finger gun part.
In Jojoverse, cookies eat YOU.
The series is back from break! Josuke's invisible spin does its work, and saves Yasuho from calamity! However, the grievously wounded Tooru hasn't given up yet, and eats the second new Rokakaka! But before he exchanges with Yasuho, Josuke lands yet another logic-defying blow on the villain! As he's sent flying, a previously unseen presence finally appears: The Higashikata matriarch, Kaato!!! But is she friend, or foe......?!!! :uhoh:
Hopefully we're close to the ending. Kaato is crying so she probably saw the dead Joubin. Not much she can do about it with both fruits eaten.
Hopefully we're close to the ending. Kaato is crying so she probably saw the dead Joubin. Not much she can do about it with both fruits eaten.
Yeah, didn't expect that the fruits that they put so much effort to grow it just gone like that.
Next chapter is here! Kaato finally reveals her stand: Space Trucking! (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_Truckin%27) At first, it seems she assaults Tooru in grief and rage, but she soon reveals herself to be equally as crafty as her son, Joubin! And now, she intends to use Tooru as a means to ending the Higashikata family curse....?!!! :uhoh:
I kept thinking she was going to screw up but... nice going. Killing two birds with one stone.
Killing two birds with one stone.
I see what you did there! :heh:
That being said, there's still a good chance that her plan could backfire. I mean, what if the equivalent exchange ends up powering up Wonder of U? As if that power weren't OP ENOUGH as it is.... :uhoh:
This chapter feels tight due to Kaato pulled an Uno Reverse Card to Tooru;
Man, looking back I found its weird why the cut on Jobin's Rokkaka happened in such weird manners (clean cut as if its a birthday cake) and brush it off as probably it damaged when Joubin attacked by the thief before. Turned out its Kaato's Stand power that practically Doraemon dimensional pocket hidden in her card which explained why Tsurugi suddenly disappear despite we never see him leaving Joubin. I see Araki's been waiting for this moment, that paneling. LOL.
This also bring interesting question, Wonder of U power is to deny calamity, now the calamity is forced and inevitable due to its nature which unable to be properly negated by Holy Corpse. Will it truly became a victory moment or ended up as power up to Wonder of U?
:heh:
Next chapter is here! So, it seems that Tooru has finally been taken out for good, and the Higashikata curse is finally broken.... At great cost to the family. But suddenly, the calamity returns....?!! :uhoh:
.....Oh wait, it was just a fake-out, lol. :heh: Or was it, really.....? :uhoh:
So ....
Its ending? Not only with Araki said through Yasuho that Jojolion is story about Higashikata family break their family curse with such extreme cost but also even Josuke do the usual signature finish like other Jojo near the end.
Of course unless, like Diamond is Unbreakable, we simply move to new antagonist which seems unlikely considering Wonder of U abnormal capabilities but possible with the reveal that Wonder of U in reality is sentient;
I take it all this time Wonder of U is simply riding on Tooru, or to be more precise fuse with Tooru original Stand thus it can operate with its own thought as a head doctor. I wonder if its true.
I'm hoping this is the end of Jojolion. I am more than ready for something new. To me, this part has extended its welcome by a lot.

Someone better prepare a question about "Weird Al' Yankovic to ensure that this is indeed a fake-out. :heh:
This is the final battle? Kinda weird when the final boss doesn't have time and space related power like other Jojo final bosses.
This is the final battle? Kinda weird when the final boss doesn't have time and space related power like other Jojo final bosses.
It was only time based powers before, Valentine already broke the mold. Post part 6 Jojo doesn't follow the same template.
Next chapter is out! We get treated to a flashback involving a very familiar character: LUCY STEEL! She's in Morioh investigating a rather peculiar incident that took place at the Higashikata fruit orchard. Soon, the investigation gets her caught in what appears to be a stand attack....?!!! :uhoh:
Also, it's officially confirmed: NEXT CHAPTER WILL BE JOJOLION'S LAST. So we're finally wrapping up after a decade-long run. Already makes me wonder what Araki has planned next for the Jojo saga....?

This...isn't what I expected of the penultimate chapter of a series. I wonder what exactly this means for the next part?
This...isn't what I expected of the penultimate chapter of a series.
However, it does feel similar to Part 5, where the final arc in that part was a flashback story involving Mista.
My main take-away from this chapter is "Jojolion will finally end next chapter".
I've been wanting it to end for years. It started off really well, to the point I thought it might even surpass Steel Ball Run, but it progressively became more and more boring and tedious to read. I'd say it's the third worst part for me.
My only gripe about the story is how the story left some part open to interpretation, such as true nature of Wonder of U. While I get the moral lesson is how Josuke developed as a person and Higashikata family win against destiny, its not hard to argue Part 4 Josuke got better focus with Kira have a perfectly understandable reason to be the final boss.
I get that Araki wanted to up the game after Valentine and goodwill-bending Love Train but Valentine obtain such power through learning process (interest to see more from power given by his new heart) and efforts (established Steel Ball Run) rather than what seems like coincidentally chosen to have such power because one is the only Rock Human who wanted to correct history.
:eyespin:
Tooru was probably the worst main antagonist in all of Jojo. He showed up out of nowhere in the final stretch of the story ("oh hey, I'm Yasuho's ex-boyfriend and I'm not suspicious at all!") and I don't even remember if we ever found out why he wanted the Rokakaka so much.
Another thing I found amazing at first but ended up disliking is the part 4 call-backs. Was there actually any point to them besides fanservice?

Tooru was not the most complex main villain, but Wonder of U became quite an iconic main villain Stand in my eyes, so it evens out. Getting a whole lot of money and fame by exploting the fruit was his goal basically. I also found his fixation on memories interesting and his last moments with the bee was nice touch on this.
I wouldn't worry about the Part though. Once completed, binge reading it again will make it way more enjoyable. But if you crossed the line of "it's dragging" while it was on-going, you can't recover from that.
Wonder of U was indeed a pretty awesome stand. And I guess it was a nice twist that the main antagonist ended up having a connection with Yasuho rather than Jousuke, but that's about it.
I don't even remember if we ever found out why he wanted the Rokakaka so much.
Another thing I found amazing at first but ended up disliking is the part 4 call-backs. Was there actually any point to them besides fanservice?
It stems from how he wanted to make Rock Human dominant species on earth.
The thought arrived as he noticed Rock Human reproduction tied to natural environment and Rock Human generally have longer lifespan than normal human thus superior race that shouldn't be singled out from course of history.
Him joining the hunt for Rokakaka is extension of this.
To achieve said goal he need money and proof of Rock Human superiority. Rokakaka, the natural born elixir is the simplest way possible, resulting on him also wanted to monopolize Rokakaka like many other antagonist in this series.
Its actually nice parallel with Higashikata family with added importance to Josuke standing IMO as: Tooru believe he, as Rock Human, destined to monopolize Rokakaka while Higashikata family believe they deserve it because destiny screwed up their life; Josuke is uniquely neither human, Rock Human nor truly belong to Higashikata family, he is the "Rokakaka human" that made the call.
Sadly Tooru is underdeveloped, although I can understand if Araki wouldn't want another made rant about destiny like Pucci or 'whoever get it rule the world' like Valentine.
Same name is Araki play of "destined event" in this second universe.
Such as Jonathan and Erina pair, Jonathan lose against Dio, Zeppeli aid Joestars. In Jojolion case, AFAIK its Jotaro and Kira importance on shaping Josuke, Hirose (Kouichi) being loyal ally to Josuke.
So, it doesn't seem that the Jojolion finale is out yet (not a translated version, anyway), but it's been confirmed by Araki: Part 9 is coming. (https://twitter.com/MangaMoguraRE/status/1427546859514515457) We can look forward to JOJO LANDS after a short break! Doesn't specify how long said break will be, but I'm guessing a month or two. Regardless, I'm freaking stoked! :D
Oh, and it looks like we'll be getting a spinoff manga (https://twitter.com/AniNewsAndFacts/status/1427555351721779204) featuring OG Josuke and Hol Horse this winter. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem Araki is writing OR drawing it, so I'm a bit iffy about checking this one out.... well, I guess I could just give the first chapter a shot, I guess.

The spinoff is being written by the writer of Purple Haze Feedback, so I have high hopes for it.
It's the writer of Boogiepop, isn't it? I think I'm more excited about this than part 9. Jousuke and Hol Horse is a super weird combination though...
