From what I was seeing so far it seemed to be at first that the killing off of the NR members came to quickly to actually grow on them and then when the time came we'd get a much more shock and tugging the heart strings.

Funny thing is Esdeath made same mistake as Budou (with enjoyment instead of rage) and survived because her oponent was "mere" Tatsumi. Both made same mistake but Budou died (if he died of course) because he lasted longer and hindered their escape while our ice queen was getting herself together in safe distance after single falcon punch.

What? It took a combination of everyone AND a powered up Tatsumi to even weaken him. The Tatsumi in the manga at this point is much stronger than he was in the anime, plus even then Budo still had enough juice to take the whole team out were it not for Pumpkin's ability to increase its power the more danger Mien's in.
I feel the manga respected Budo much more than the anime.

His attitude throughout the whole fight was that of a noob rather than a hardened veteran that managed to climb to the highest rank of the military. He completely lost his temper which led him to use a big attack that depleted his reserves and didn't even hit anybody. Then he fell for a bluff from Mine. And finally, he completely forgot about the reason he even fell for the bluff in the first place and tried to overpower Pumpkin, without even bothering to check his energy reserves first. He was physically strong, but he apparently never learned how to use his head in a battle.

He might have been stronger than in the anime, but at the end of the day, he was made to look like a musclehead in the manga and couldn't even achieve result. At least he took Mine down with him in the anime. Better than nothing.

He said it himself, both he and his armor have a nasty temper and the more NR fought him, the more pissed off he was going to be, the less he would think things through and rush on ahead. It's called having a character flaw, if Budo was a perfect clear headed guy with the same power he currently has then he would have absolutely destroyed NR, but he had a flaw and NR were smart enough to exploit it. The bluff was another flaw derived from lack of information, it went both ways as NR knew nothing about Budo's equipment either, Mine's style was just better suit at dealing with that discrepancy in information than Budo's straightforward style.

On the positive Mine is still in this world. She's in a bad state of course so it's not really a good situation. I suppose throwing all her energy through pumpkin as it was being obliterated like that was bad. At least there is hope of recovery, not great, but better than nothing. She's still there, Tatsumi will keep fighting for her sake and will see how things turn out.

If you want a long term analysis,I suggest you look at the French Revolution.It first turned into a mindless bloodbath,a dictator then rises and proclaimed himself emperor,and in the end,the King even returned after the said dictator was defeated and deposed.Ultimately though,certain ideas like suffrage, freedom of religion and meritocracy sort of stuck.The monarch's ability to rule unrestrained was also broken.

It really depends on what "Pumpkin" really is. We've seen her disassemble it and use other barrels, so it's possible that the teigu part is just some core that turns emotions to energy, and the gun itself can be remade.

The technology used to make the teigu is long lost. That explained in the prequel with akame. Emperor tried to create weapons greater than the teigu but came up way way way short.

I think the core of the gun itself is gone. The cracks appered not just the barrel but also on the main frame of the gun.

Late to the party as I just read the chapter today:

It’s a good chapter as “Mein being in a coma”-reveal at the end of the chapter hits me more than Mein’s death in the anime. Still, I have to say that Mein’s “final blast”-sequence in the anime that killed Budou looks more awesome now that I can compare it with the manga. The intense blast in the anime just feeIs more impactful from action standpoint. Moving along, I appreciate Budou got to show off more of his prowess by fending off the rest of NR practically alone (something the anime had to cut short due to time constraint). Though turns out that Budou is too emotional and too proud of a guy to come with a better decision than to just continue to chase and push NR to its limit knowing he’s already at disadvantage.

And Esdeath is just getting wetter and wetter watching Tasumi’s progress. I swear she nearly had an orgasm when Tatsumi punched her. Forget the sex, there’s a good chance that she can only “reach climax” when the guy she loves beat her up during an all-out fight. In that case, Tatsumi should work harder to bring out Esdeath's inner M :heh:. Oh, and I also love that Esdeath uses her arm-sized ice-shield like when she defended herself from Akame’s Murasame in the anime. Only in this case, she managed to block Tatsumi’s Neun-something spear, something she couldn’t do when she faced super-Akame in the anime.

Also, after reading this chapter, I can’t help but remember what many manga-fans in many forums & Youtube said after watching Mine vs Budou in the anime back then (paraphrasing, but these are pretty much what they said):

- What?! Budou can randomly float in the sky?!! This is ridiculous!! The manga won’t do this shit!!! F U WhiteFox!!!
- What?! Budou’s final move called “Solid Shooter”?!! That’s lame!! The manga won’t do this shit!!! F U WhiteFox!!!
- What?! Budou and Mine have a final duel with “massive energy waves” from their teigus and made massive hole in the clouds like Goku & Vegeta?!! This turns into DBZ so much it’s retarded!! The manga will never do this shit!!! F U WhiteFox!!!

To them I say: How does it feel to be slapped in the face by the very manga you put on a pedestal? I bet it feels great reading this chapter, huh? :rolleyes: (Though I kinda agree that Solid Shooter sounds lame and hoping the manga comes out with different name, at least I’m not in denial). My advice to you guys? Chill out a bit. At the end of the day, this is just a silly shounen manga, not a masterpiece in terms of writing by a longshot. I’m a longtime AgK fan and I embrace its silliness and though I do harshly criticize some choices the anime took, I know better than to freak out, pissed off, and cursing the studio and wishing them the worst just because they gave us something new or different (which turns out some of the “original” things in the anime are not that different from the manga after all).

I fear this could actually go down the understanding route with Esdeath, and I was a major denyer of that.

I keep thinking back to her conversation with Tatsumi in like Ch. 18.

When he was trying to make understand the feelings of the weak.
Back then, she coudn't understand simply because she can't understand the weak cause, I quote from her flashback:
"Whatever the enemy, I always dominate"

She is unable to understand cause she is at the very top, yet what just happened in this chapter was someone breaking that Dominance of hers, that being noone else than Tatsumi who was trying to make her understand the feelings of the weak.

I'm not saying she is weak, but her reasoning to not understand is gone cause she no longer is the absolute dominant.

No, you have it backwards. They skipped that stuff so they could get to that point, not the other way around. They clearly did not want an open ending for whatever reason, so they went with the half-baked ending. It's likely they didn't trust the series to sell well enough to continue with another season years later, so they decided it'd sell more if it had a definitive ending. They failed to realize that Good endings > Open endings > shit endings. Unfortunately for them, they went with the latter and ruined the anime and likely cost themselves more sales from fans than they gained from casual watchers.

We got Pumpkin which basically is a machine-gun and sometimes laser/particle/beam rifle (it even has a freakin’ Scouter ala DBZ!), we got Najenda’s mechanical/bionic arm (not a teigu, which only support my argument even more), we got Susanoo which basically is a robot complete with an AI, we got Grand Chariot, etc, etc. So what’s the big deal with a Giant-Robot teigu, really? Its existence itself is not more stupid than what we have so far in the manga I tell you.

In AgK world, it’s already established that their technology (especially the tech used to make the teigus) is quite advanced. We got Pumpkin which basically is a machine-gun and sometimes laser/particle/beam rifle (it even has a freakin’ Scouter ala DBZ), we got Najenda’s mechanical/bionic arm, we got Susanoo which basically is a robot complete with an AI, we got Grand Chariot, etc, etc. So what’s the big deal with a Giant-Robot teigu, really? Its existence itself is not more stupid than what we have so far in the manga I tell you.

I think it more of the fact where the hell did they get that much resources to make that.

look at all the teigu, they are all small or human proportional sizes with somewhat reasonable abilities. then all of a sudden u got a giant mecha.

was the resource pool 80% for the mecha while the rest got 20% of the remaining resources for testing and creation?

What Esdeath and other characters said comes from the author. What she said is an exposition of what the author meant (freezing time) unless the character is meant to be lying, stupid, or doesn’t know what she’s talking about. Given what you said in your comment, you think Esdeath is somewhere in those categories which I highly doubt.

I was under the assumption, esdeath just thought of ways to stop tatsumi from escaping and looked at the possible ways to trap him and since all her answers is either maim/kill it or freeze it. "her thought process must've been i don't wanna kill or cripple tatsumi, i'll just freeze time". then with her monsterous amount of talent developed a way to to freeze time or something from totally spies about cooling down molecules.

Well, the Korean scans (57) are out.

Mine is sent away to get treatment and Tatsumi says lets get married when you get better.
Tatsumi's body merged with incurso so he's kinda half incurso half human which is why the poison on the sword didn't kill him.
But if tatsumi continues to use Incurso recklessly he'll get consumed by incurso, so his limit is 3-4 more incurso use.
Tatsumi and Najenda talk about future battle with Esdeath etc. Tatsumi vows to fight with his all.
Meanwhile Leone and Akame talking to each other and akame comments on how tatsumi hasn't smiled once after escaping and on how the base looks so empty.
Leone comforts Akame and together they promise to go on a trip on a boat after tatsumi regain smile and mine returns to normal.
Switch back to Najenda feeling lonely after rabac dead.
Switch to Esdeath with wave and his waifu on battle meeting on how to handle the rebels who are near capital now.
Wave worries on how to fight with huge number of rebels, but Esdeath points outside window and says we'll fight with that (didn't show what it is).

Switch to dorthea with prime minister talking about how she made teigu adjustments and shit

Worst fears have been confirmed. Tatsumi is fusing with Incursio, and it will completely consume him after 3 or 4 more uses.

Dorothea is the best Wild Hunt member. The creepy things she can create. That bug-like Cosmina reminds me of a certain boss from the rpg game Bravely Default I won't spoil to the users here.

Probably after previous evolution of his Incursio after he was poisoned by wire at the sword. You know since Tatsumi is always adapt at any situation which similar to that Teigu, probably he also have a tight or even unbreakable bond with that Teigu.

From what i can see, Mine is not dead yet.. She's just entering vegetative state with that condition. Commonly the body will start decay after 24 hours of death but in Mine's case she's entering vegetative state after she pushed herself to defeat Budou.

Some notes of importance.

The thing is you can't say that when Wave can solo both Leone and Akame like fodder.

And if experience tell us, of this new spider thing might as well solo everything else.

And do what? Wave is basically Anti-Akame with his armor.

Maybe against Kurome? Sure I can see that, but Kurome has shown to give Akame a run for her money before. Also then Leone vs Wave? Yup lion-girl doesn't get past there.

Sure Masamune is hax and can be useful vs: Kurome, Dorothea, Cosmina, Izuo.

From an author and story standpoint not characterwise.

Sometimes, a character has to be killed off solely to prevent something which cannot be resolved.

EG:
Death Note.
Naomi was killed off by the writer cause from she figured things out too fast which would have conflicted the story.

I'm saying what applies here is that Stylish might have been killed off by Takahiro to prevent a complete cooperation with Dorothea which would have caused conflict, cause Dorothea by herself can create a Monster with the potential to rival the Ultimate Teigu.
Cooperation with Stylish alive would have been horribly OP.

The remaining contenders are pretty much powerhouses. We still have yet to see the true extent of Izou's strenght, as well as his teigu that he denies he has one.

This is no laughing matter. With just 3 close ranged combatants Najenda will have to step up her game and contribute to increase Night Raid's manpower.

As if Tats and Mine is canon, I'd still prefer Tats and Esdeath atm.
Though for Tats going with either Esdeath or Leone it seems he'd be in the M part while the two ladies are the S. lol
