Synopsis:
Hachimitsu Academy, known for its strict academic standards and even stricter school code, is making a giant change this year. In the first time in school history, they are allowing boys to be admitted.
As Fujino Kiyoshi starts his first day at Hachimitsu Academy he is shocked to find out that there are only 4 other guys in the entire school, making the ratio of girls to boys 200:1. And to their dismay, not one of the thousand girls will talk to them or even acknowledge them. But Kiyoshi and the guys are about to find out about the shadow student council that has been threatening the female students about interacting with male students.
I found this to be a decently funny manga =03. Although the premise sounds serious, it's much more a comedy about the 5 guys enduring being in an mostly girls' school. There is physical comedy, i.e. girls knocking the guys around, but at least it doesn't happen to the main protagonist, Kiyoshi, nearly as much as everyone else. He also has determination, which is a good thing, since it means he's not just taking his situation reluctantly, and means to do something about it. The only gripe I have with this story is that they only end up around 2 girls(well, really just one girl with a brief cameo from the other), which could make things feel uneventful but given the situation(read the title literally), it doesn't give them much choice =0(.
Gakuto hasn't ceased to amaze me. That guy's a freakin genius =03. I 'wtf''d pretty hard when he cartwheeled to avoid Meiko's swing to pull down the Mari's skirt :heh:. For a Three Kingdoms otaku, that guy is pretty ballsy.
I hope the day of the escape happens before end of the 3rd volume.
Meiko is too much of a damn tease with that clothing. Why even dress like that knowing the guys like it, but is seemingly a lesbian? Makes for good eye-candy at least.
And Hana reminds me of Girls of the Wild's Dal Dal very much =03. I'm certainly looking forward to seeing more of her and Kiyoshi, since Hana's always getting the short end of the stick.

I'm thinking they'll succeed, but be caught at the last minute, which will detain them even longer. As amusing as it's been so far, I can't imagine them going through another month of the same gags. They're going to have to get out of there, or otherwise, things'll get stale =0(.

hard to really like this series outright but like I do if just for the glorious service alone, the Vice Pres wins out here, she's crazy but absolutely hot as hell while being absolutely crazy.
And she's on alot of cover pages.
I've seen the raws up to 41 I think it was and they are still in prison doing hard labour. Don't see them getting out anytime soon as being in "prison" is the premise of the series afterall.
As absurd and ridiculous as this is it can be pretty funny.

Don't believe me? Read a previous work (http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=453) of his. First, you'd think, hey, this is kinda authentic American. Then, you'd think it's one of them Great American Novels in manga form. Then you realize the author is Japanese, writing his own version of a folk legend, and you go, "goddamn, brother."
So he's one underrated mofo. But what about this manga?
This manga is just him letting loose. And it's epic. It's absurdist to the core, considerably more erotic than most hentai (to be fair, I wouldn't really know); certainly a much better grasp on the S&M mentality, which permeates everything that's going on, and it plays out that classic, eternal mechanic that, for men, perversion is war, perversion is heroism, sacrifice, glory. Perversion 4 life. The glory of a quest isn't about the scale of one's success, nobody cares if you save the world from the Dark Lord again and again if it's your day job. The glory is in the quest itself, the lengths you're willing to go, the sufferings, the struggle. The more absurd, the funnier.
But I bet half of you idiots dropped it in the first few chapters because the boys were "pathetic," not understanding the parody, the skill needed to create this sort of atmosphere successfully or the expressiveness, and sometimes the intentional roughness, ugliness, of the art (when it isn't pervertedly focusing on the Vice-Prez's assets endlessly anyway). But I understand, not everybody gets it, the passion, the true love of masochism.

Well, I can't say I'm surprised they didn't get out of the prison, but damnit, I was thinking "prison" might be a metaphor reflecting how they feel being around all girls =0<. Anyway I already had my mind set that he would escape, but be caught in the end anyway, so that's no big deal(don't spoil me with details though =03). I just hope things manage to stay fresh as it has up to chp 21.

well, things are pretty tense now, from Chiyo sticking up for Kiyoshi despite the prez's/vice prez's rebuttal to Kiyoshi being isolated. Kiyoshi still owes Hana for pissin on her, Shingo is betraying everyone for ass(or so he thinks), and now this ant situation. I got a feeling that, in cliche fashion, Kiyoshi will be the one to take the blow for the prez, which will obviously affect her man-hating flag(not to mention the saving the baby crow),but honestly, she deserves it. Pure bitch move by destroying what someone else considers very precious.
As expected it was Kiyoshi who took the blow. What not expected is where he was stabbed. Lets say... Kioshi is no longer a virgin... I doubt his action gives him anything, except pain. Chapter 38 - Hana is a pissing freak, abusive as all council girls, but it looks like she is the one falling for Kiyoshi. Chapter 40: Rest of the guys stared talking to Kiyoshi again. Chapters 41-46: Traitor is allowed to go outside, he is playing in game center and flirt with a cute girl, Four-eyes lost his figurines. Chapters 47-50 Vice-prez is forced by council president to wear less revealing clothes. Fatty, deprived of vice-prez abuse is loosing his mind. 51-52: Traitor still flirting outside with a cute girl (most probably this girl is actually working for the council). Fatty is lured by vice-prez to attempt to escape. I don't remember - second escape is another 3 months in prison or expulsion?
Getting impatient with the lack of release of these hilarious bonerific manga

It would be pretty easy for them to say "your responsibility, no excuses" and expel them all, though the series would probably end if that happened.

Ok, so here is the MAJOR spoiler
So basically, their arm wrestling with vice-prez only was a half success as Gakuto was only able to install the recovery program but not enough time to actually recover the e-mails. Then they pretty much gave up afterwards as they thought there was no other way to prove their innocence. And then on the second last day, they were given the resignation forms to fill out. Meanwhile Hana from cutting her mushrooms finally recalls what really happened in the nursing room :heh:, which made her determined on getting her revenge on Kiyoshi.
On Kiyoshi's form he wrote "I know what you hid in the backyard", which made the principal concerned and gave them a chance to talk to him privately, in which they got to postpone their deadline for another day. And so they finally came up with a plan. They notified Chiyo to go near their prison in the evening and Kiyoshi was able to use Hana's hatred on himself to lure her to get back on him. Hana started threatening him when they were alone, and her "revenge" was to steal his first kiss from the girl he loved. Kiyoshi decided to go out and started french kissing her:heh:, which made her half unconscious and in the midst of all this chaos, he was able to let Chiyo and Gakuto switch places with each other.
The next day when everyone gathered in the principal's room, because Gakuto and Chiyo switched places, Gakuto finally had the free time to fully recover the e-mails to prove their innocence. Ends up the 3 members of the shadow student council got suspended for now and the guys are finally back to their normal lives.
Which I think is the end of this really long arc, not really sure where the author is going to go with this from now on.

I mean, it going well beyond teasing with Vice-prez sweat and crotch shots, which have grown kinda stale as of late. Just the whole concept of what Hana tried to do to Kiyoshi, and what Kiyoshi is now trying to do to Hana, and this whole serious ecchi situation if just fantabulous, not to mention chp 76 cliffhanger. The author sure knows how to keep you coming back =03
Anyway, even if Hana passes out or whatever in the next chapter, I've got a feeling that what he's doing is going to come back and haunt him....yandere style.

I really want to pick up Wing's Hana figure when it's released. Hopefully they show off some updated prototype pics soon.
Sweet little Chiyo is surprisingly good at being slutty. Mari has a pretty epic face fault when Chiyo tells Kiyoshi she's not wearing panties after their little "quiz."

Most manga aggregator sites have it way up on the same "popular" list that shows the likes of Naruto (if they have it) or The World God Only Knows. These lists are generally the most accessible indicators of what's popular among the English-language manga reading community.
In Japan itself, it's selling like crazy and won the prestigious Kodansha Award in 2013 in one of the biggest categories. The mangaka has always been excellent, but this is his breakthrough work. Like TWGOK's author, he seems like a highly cosmopolitan, well-read dude (Darwin! Abenomics! Taxi Driver! classy references for an ecchi manga), so good for him.
P.S. I've got two tickets to Hana paradise.

Honestly, I don't have high hopes for the anime adaptation. The incredible art will obviously be downgraded, and I fear that the broadcast version will be massacred by the censors in order to drive DVD/BD sales. I also feel it will lose something in the transition...i.e., this is a series that is really best as print media.
While I don't mind buying the disc versions if a show is amazing enough, I hate the trend of butchering the broadcast version. Not like that's anything new, mind you.

Hana is actually pretty sweet in this chapter once you look at the previous chapters and see it through her eyes. She was crying just like Kiyoshi about the aspect on pissing on him and watching him piss, she was scared as him. And when they were in his room she forgot three times in a row the real reason why they are together and just tried to spend time with him, chatting, drinking tea, watching movies, just normal stuff.
Then the whole superserious tension happened with them nearly getting found out and they baaaaaaaaaaaaaarely escaped social death from which was like one nanosecond away from them.
And then ofc she wasn't able to hold it in anymore which is no wonder given she hadn't gone to the toilet since yesterday for this day.^^;
And when Kiyoshi sits on the bed pissed to his toes and screams at her, asks her if this is all she wanted, if this is all that was it for her, feeling dejected that she would leave like that without saying a word, like it meant nothing to her and as response she turns around and kisses him while his lips are still tasting of her piss, standing in the puddle of the piss, not caring that it ruins her socks, putting her arms around his wet chest and pushing him down on the bed.... daaaaaamn, that was SWEET!

Well, he did crossed the door h was afraid of crossing. People over at /a/ speculate that this door was meant as metaphor for reality because Kiyoshi has shown signs before that he finds Hana cute and attractive even going so far to going to kiss her when she threatens him to kill him if he does so. Like Chiyo represents the whole "ideal" girlfriend/romance/idea of a romantic relationship, the whole pure and innocent stuff you read in books and see in movies. And the door symbolizing the pissing deed with Hana is the whole "real" stuff, the one that love is not something so pure and innocent and ideal as we wanna make it want to be, but can be dirty, demanding, confusing and frightening. I dunno how much of that speculation is true to the mangaka's intentions but I love how a chapter about piss and a kiss can make people speculate so much and get them to write such deep stuff. :3

Well, the highlight of this chapter seems to be Kiyoshi's mental degradation in terms of how he feels after being pissed on. The whole seriousness of the affair is what makes this stand out so much; other series would treat being pissed on as a joke. On the other side, seems like Hana now has intentions of pushing Chiyo out of Kiyoshi's heart. I wonder what she will say when she hands Kiyoshi the headband. Whatever it is, it feels as if it will change the relationship between them going forward. I wouldn't mind that one bit either. Their relationship is probably the most intriguing one in the entire series, and I can't wait to see where that boat sails =03.

Well i decided to marathon all 186 chapters this weekend. I am loving the anime but wanted to make sure i wouldn't miss anything they might leave out of the anime. Great managa its def not for everyone especially given the ages of the characters and the things that happen but i find it funny as hell.
As much i love Kyoshi and Hana moments, I cant help but to feel Kyoshi also has some chemistry ever so slightly with Mari. But that is walking on egg shells given how her sister feels about him and everything he has done has been with Chiyo in mind. Also i have not quite figured out if Mari is actually a lesbian or did she have sex with Kate solely for the blackmail material, Kate is in love with her so it seems she likes girls but again that a grey area as its not confirmed she does not like boys. Its possible after the battle between the USC and ASC is over we could see Kate try to go for Kyoshi as an extension to taking everything from Mari. Lots of possibilities
Im hoping Meiko gets back to normal soon and there is a bit of tension with Andre. Breaking Andre like Risa did is not as much fun as watching him chase Meiko for the punishment and the fact that Risa calls him trash i dont think she has real feelings for him, also Andre really only ended up like that because he missed Meiko not because Risa is a better Dom. I honestly would like to see Andre torn over who he would like to be his Dom and also see if he is actually capable of feeling something emotional wise other than his S&M and pain fetishes. Because honestly that side will get old real quick if a character only has one dynamic through out the entire story and shows no sign of growth i find it boring.

Amazing things this chapter:
- Risa looks like she'd won but video playback shows that both she and Hana tied due to Hana's "ears" (her costume) crossing the finish line as she fell.
- Poor Mari was spared the embarrassment that would've resulted had she gone through the dance with her "fashion" sense. :heh:
- The Chairman is as hopeless as always but now it seems as though his new "lover" is in trouble.
- Hana is naturally mad at Kiyoshi but gets over it pretty quickly; a departure from the beginning of the series given Hana's tendency to hold grudges.
- As both finally have their proper underwear on and move to walk away, they notice that wearing each other's underwear makes no difference. They even voice that for the next event, maybe they should switch underwear with each other again, all the while blushing at each other!
Great chapter for those who ship KiyoshixHana, as I do.
What does this mean? Is Kiyoshi slowly but surely starting to fall for Hana too? Will they both purposefully do more perverted things with each other before saying "Screw it, let's go out with each other already"? What's Chiyo going to do about all this, seeing all the romantic signs between the two? Is she going to be more aggressive towards Kiyoshi like the time she mistook him and Mari going out?

That was a great and hilarious read. I haven't laugh reading a manga since School Rumble.
Best moments by far are the Kiyoshi/Hana moments. They have a weird relationship but strangely it works. Normally I would find anthing to do with piss in a manga disgusting but not in this case.
His interactions with Mari is interesting as well. There is potential forthat ship to sail.
As for Chiyo, despite being initially the first girl to like Kiyoshi she seem to be lagging behind on the romance department. The Author needs to develope her more and give her a better personality. Normally the pure and innocent girl is the best in a romance manga but it pales in comparison in this type of manga.

It seems that the Chairman's adventures are becoming more and more chaotic, though it seems that the "hitman" shooting was entirely coincidental, just like how the Chairman mistook the 911 call for a "mysterious" organization after his "Honey". (A hunter was aiming for a bear, not them.) Though I am still confused about this "antagonist" after the Chairman's woman; why does he want her so bad?
Hopefully it goes back to the school soon.

The raws for Chapter 205 are out. Ohhhh boy:
- The "thing" that Kiyoshi can only do amounted to him getting a boner from fondling both Mari and Meiko's breasts. Mari wants him to show off the boner to the girls and freak them all out. Naturally Kiyoshi is opposed to this but Mari will consider him a "hero" if he does so. With tears in his eyes, he shows it off in all of its glory. The reaction is what you expect.
Mari better reward the poor bastard for going through all this and not just with a dinner at the restaurant. She probably should consider becoming the guy's girlfriend, though that won't sit well with Chiyo and Hana lol.
