For the first discussion regarding Karen I want to raise the topic of the relationship between her and Koyomi.
Is it going to go anywhere?
Koyomi DEFINITELY sees her in a sexual way. I'm not fooling here, he makes it VERY clear.
Karen seems to be noticing his advances as well and goes along with him but confused at the same time.
These two perverts are definitely siblings.

Karen's the female version of Koyomi. Heroic, self-sacrificing, and perverted. No surprises there.
I think it's vaguely interesting that we see them become sexually attracted to each other though, sort of by accident. They clearly weren't before the toothbrush incident.

He wasn't for her but she was sorta for him. Things started to heat up after Karen Bee between the two of them. When Karen got into high school Koyomi became even more attracted to her. <--I'm talking about actual sexy time attraction here.

The voice acting fron Eri Kitamura for her is glorious. Her personality makes her much more notable than her sister, though is this why she gets the bulk of this season? We shall see...

And wasn't it stated earlier that both sisters got bfs that were similar to Koyomi in order to get him jealous...? Dunno if that happened before or after this since I haven't followed the novel trans.
So Karen falling for her big brother has been pretty gradual if the time factor means anything - it all just came to a head now and only now is Koyomi regarding Karen as being a young woman.
Still, that has to suck as far as Nadeko is concerned...:heh: This would be a gamebreaker blow to her self-esstem if she knew that Koyomi's own blood sister has a better chance of landing him than she does...:heh::heh::heh:

Alter the height for one moment? Naw, that would be really dumb. Throughout Nise, every time Karen and Araragi would be in the same scene, their heights were always either the same or Karen would be slightly taller.

Ep8 is like heaven for Karen's fans. I means the toothbrush screen got everyone attention. But then we also have:
embarrassed Karen when she showed off in skirt the first time
the screen when she said her onii-chan is hotter than fire and she's in love
the way when she jump in and squeeze her body against Koyomi with such joyful outburst
she bite her tongue when 1st requested to be introduced to Kanbaru
her cheerful smile when was stepped on and wish to lick her brother's toes
her aerobic landing and that proud face
doing a hand-stand, and try to keep her skirt up to cover her panties
keep divert her eyes away when she thought Koyomi is looking at her
Too many good screens which was overshadowed by toothbrush...
Somehow it seems she loved him all along, but with mixing emotions as the siblings are fairly close even without romantic feelings. The kiss in her arc somehow ignited it up, and maybe she just want more of Koyomi's affection...

Joking aside, i actually think Kanbaru wouldact much more mature in the face of an younger admirer. I means she went wild a bit over Araragi to purposely show her perverseness. But she has a whole fanclub after her, so i guess she behave quite well in the face of public... And she's acting quite innocent and cool when comes contact to cute girl ( Shinobu, Sengoku...).

But seriously. Someone needs to dig up Kanbaru vs. Koyomi height comparison from Bakemonogatari, so we can compare with Karen. Karen might be tallest character in the anime! Save for Meme and Kaiki? Not to mention all the characters in the Kizumonogatari promo in Bake... But for Nisemonogatari's sake!

Well, massive over-sexualization aside :heh:, Karen does make an interesting sub character for Koyomi. I was surprised that she mentioned that his kind of teasing made her contemplate suicide when she was younger. I mean like :twitch: surprised. I don't think I ever had something that bad happen to me that I considered killing myself at such a young age...
Think it was a friendly Niso reminder for siblings to be nice to each other, OR ELSE.
Also, after Nisemono, are there any more mentionings of Karen/Tsukihi at all? I know that they are just side characters for the most part but...:)

Kanbaru is described as petite? That really caught me by surprise. I thought Kanbaru was admired (having a whole fanclub) because she 's the typical tall, cool upper classmate stereotype. But... could it be... she was adored because she's seen as a short, energetic and cute senpai instead?
I means... wow... now i definitely want to see Kanbaru and Karen interaction.

In the commentary for the anime Senjougahara comments on how Araragi likes to stand in ways that make him look taller than her (like on stairs and such).

i'm currently the first karen X koyomi fanfic, Birds and bee mostly koyomi X karen but with some tsukihi you can read it at bakemonogatari page at fanfiction.net
i know karen loved her brother, i mean, she almost killed herself just because araragi said some things to her without thinking. but to koyomi its kinda of different koyomi is...a pervert a damn pervert lolicon,siscon that guy has so many fetishes i would die before listening all of them
at first, he really just see his sister as a...sister, a girl related to him by blood and nothing else the big one is the tomboyish wich he always fought since they were little, but around the time with toothbrush, for me, i think it was when he saw karen with the skirt, his word was shaken and when karen said the [いいよ] that was the last time he could hold himself, after that he opened his mind to the siscon universe

I like her, and by that I mean love her, but I think she is comparably less "interesting" than Tsukihi. At least in terms of making me curious.
But I realize that she has her own set of charms.
I do wonder if she has any sort of an internal battle going on or is she really exactly what she appears to be, though?
