Takes place 10 years after the end of Shaman King Kang Zeng Bang and focuses on the life of Hana in his teenage years.

anyway Spoiler form 1st chapter

Hana’s feeling down because his life is dull and, you know, too normal for someone with amazing powers like him. As you saw in the preview a bunch of thugs challenge Hana to a fight, since he’s said to be the strongest boy in the city. Their leader calls himself Ryu the 2nd, but he’s not even half as cool as the original Ryu! Kick his ass, Hana!

Of course, after he gets home he’s scoled by Tamao, who reminds him he’d be in trouble if someone found out he’s a shaman. To avoid this from happening, she bans him from using ghosts and spirits. Then he goes to his room, where he has a little conversation about shamans and the Shaman Fight with Amidamaru. He compares Hana’s life with young Yoh’s, since he realizes they’re almost opposite.

Later that night, Amidamaru and Tokageroh go drinking sake in an Oden stand near the inn (Yay! It’s been like forever since they last had so many lines!) After a while Tamao and Ryu join them. The owner seems to like Tamao (he kind of has a crush?) so Ryu being there as well bothers him. They order something to drink and eat and then Tamao says she can feel a mysterious presence in Funbari.

And what’s the weird presence, you say? Well, of course it’s the two new characters! Their names are Luka & Yohane and their last name is Asakura, but they belong to the branch family. For some reason we don’t know yet they want to get revenge, and since they claim to have purer blood and more strength than the heir to the main family… well, Hana is their main target. It may sound confusing, but if you know Neji and Hinata from Naruto then I’m sure you’ll understand a bit better what this is all about!

So, they start their revenge by breaking Amidamaru’s grave, which really pisses Hana off when he finds out. He thinks maybe the thugs did it after he beat them up, but then a smiling Yohane shows up asking for directions and looking all nice. Of course Hana’s rude at him because he’s upset, so Yohane introduces himself as a shaman and challenges him. Hana freaks out at first, but then he gets all excited about finally having someone he can fight with on equal terms. (His eye patch just changed places lololol TAKEI)

But we don’t get to see the actual battle, because the scene changes to the inn, where Ponchi and Chonchi are telling Tamao someone wants to kill Hana. And then… cliffhanger!
oh and Yohane OS is "Tsukuyomi"

but doesn't mean it they are completely different chapter. probably 2009 one is like Ch 5 or 10 or somewhere in between of "new" flower

The chapter starts with Hana and Yohane facing each other. Hana makes fun of his eyepatch, of his clothes and even of his ghost. He also doesn’t believe Yohane’s last name is Asakura too.
(Takei, stop making jokes that can’t be translated I beg you)
Then Hana attacks and the two boys start fighting using the Hyoi Gattai (good old times!). Yohane hits Hana really hard in the stomach with his umbrella/sword. Amidamaru starts to worry about this “branch family” thing and points out that Yohane’s using one of Hao’s earrings. Thanks Amida, nobody had noticed!
This part’s pretty shocking …. Yohane says that someone picked it directly from Hao’s head in Mu and gave it to his family. Obviously only the finalist teams and the Patch were there, so… chan chan chaaan.
He then explains that he’s also one of Hao’s descendant and that his family’s always supported him, unlike the main Asakura house. Hana says that he has nothing to do with his family matters, apart from trying to overcome Yoh. More fighting, this time using the O.S. Hana’s is still called Oni Kabuto, but looks nothing like the one in the oneshot.
Meanwhile, Tamao and Ryu are trying to find Hana (Ryu’s motorcycle!! Long time no see!) Ryu tells her not to worry, because if they didn’t participate in the Shaman Fight it means that they’re not as strong as the main house.
And… Yohane bites the dust. Hana runs to call an ambulance and Luka promises to avenge her little brother and kill Hana herself (Ren/Jun anyone?) Btw, her guardian spirits are two wolves called Shinden and Raiden.
In the last page Amidamaru says that Yohane’s O.S.’s actually as strong as Yoh’s “Spirit of Sword” was.

chapter 3 raws out there was alot of talking that i didn't understand but main parts.

hana meets up with tamo and runs.

meet up with the three girls who were on hao's team in SK who work at his home.

goes back to help Yohane but he gone.

Yohane's sister has some back ground shown with a hao look alike

she attack hana at his house. using a two wolf OS that is like some type of carriot being pulled.

hana use his and the sister states something that shocks hana. chapter ends with hana getting hit .

First Anna (call herself as Anna the First or Anna I). was studying with Yoh grandma before Original manga start. currently he open itako school and business in Los Angeles

second one is the original heroine

Seems to me like a rehash of what was in Shaman King with younger hero(in)es, at least so far. The new Anna , Almi, is pretty interesting, with shaman powers descended from Patch and Itako abilities. Tamao also grew up to be quite a fearsome woman, from the way she kicked the ass of Yohane's father. Not too sure whether I'll be getting v3 which will be released in May. I hope to see some good cameos with Yoh and the old Anna kicking ass. Also nice to see Also nice to see the 'Flower Group' staying with the Asakuras.

With Anna... In a freaking war zone :twitch: ? I know the author likes to throw in weird military thingies along side the shaman battles since the first story, but it still feels very wtf-ish :twitch:

Also, the two of them really don't look much older than when they were in the original... I guess all those sexual tension between those two just exploded after the Shaman Fight :p

Also- the color illustration with Hana and Almi looks strangely familiar :heh:

Oh and why is it that I got this subtle feeling that they're an anti-shaman force who had the ability to negate their power? I mean, they DO look like they're in danger eventhough they had powerful abilities like SOE... remember the part where Hao solo'ed military forces? :(

One of my favorite scenes of the original; Hao made it look like he needed everybody's help to defeat this Naval force by Manta's dad... But ended up soloing the entire thing himself :heh:

Probably part of the deal Hao made with them, when he gave Hana the Oni summon ability and (possibly) resurrected him.
Also in the end of the original Shaman King Ren, Horohoro, Lyserg and Chocolove mentioned there was big issue in the world. Could it be related with the upcoming competition that Alumi hinted? Also the revelation from the February chapter about Hana's Oni made this more interesting.
Possible, but I think it's more like reminiscence, how they were back then with their dreams and ideals, only to realise years later that they can't change the world through ideals alone.

Considering Yoh still has the Spirit of Earth could probably hint that. Also it's freaking ridiculous that a guy in Eastern Europe went "Look a couple of teenagers with a baby! I'll freaking shoot them!" Wonder what was wrong with those guys

I can't even understand how they could have been in a bind in the first place. Yoh has SoE. He should have been able to pown those guys easy.

and that's the problem. Yoh and the rest thinking that they can change the world using elemental spirit when they was young. that's the promised the make with Hao so he dont destroy the world

now that they are older, they realize that the idea is impossible. they cannot make a complete world peace. but keep trying since they dont have option. either try to make a complete peace or watch until world is destroyed by Hao

Read the Kazenban again. Hao is the Shaman King. He's holding off on destroying the world because Yoh and Anna proposed that they could make peace and quell all the conflicts that made Hao hate the world in the first place.

Beating everyone down with force doesn't really help their cause.

Hao said that they are inside GS (great spirit now), the place where all dead people will come back after they died. If yoh was in there that mean he was already dead. In spirit world anyone can manipulate their own form, this is Yoh at his strongest it seem.

Hana died again this time, Hao of course will revived hana one more time but he stated clear that this is will be the last time he will revived hana. Of course this is not for free, in order to ressurect hana back to life he must fullfilled one condition.
Hao ask Hana if he can beat this guy (Yoh).

If Hana cannot beat Yoh that mean that he will not have a chance to beat the other god's candidate who is likely more stronger than Yoh in the flower of maze tournament.

Additional info : Hana's memory when he was little kid was erased. He already met tao men in the past and it's look like something happened to iron maiden jeanne that makes tao men joined the Flower of Maze tournament.
Something happened to all the original member of the cast (Yoh, etc) that is why we never see them all this time.

i was in junior high when i read vol.32 of shaman king... shitty ending but ok... ah not the ending, actually the series it self become shitty. its too rational. "he is stronger than me so i cant beat him, so i wont fight him, i will wait for power up after death and then fight him again" no shonen vibe weak beating strong with will power at all!
and now lol i just know there is actually a true ending kangzengbang and sequel.

I'm still really confused as to why Ryuu seems to be such an incapable character now. Shouldn't he be fairly high up on the general skill spectrum?

I wonder if we'll ever get a "What happened to Manta" piece in all this. I mean, he's in like, business school or something, but I think he should get mentioned at some point.

You're probably right. It's just sort of too big of an extreme, to go from one of the primary members of Yoh's fighting force, to being a useless baby sitter.

It doesn't bother me as much as it's like.. culture shock? Whiplash? That sort of thing.

Shaman king has always been like, surprisingly dark. I hope Jeanne's not really dead, stupid freckle faced freak can never be the maiden she was!

I think Takei must get over already with shaman king and start brand new series, he is too lingering in his past glory and that is not healthy at all, i know he is not satisfied with that half-crap Hao ending but he must face it that he had tried twice and failed.

This is what Flowers should have been, yeah maybe too early to call but they did moved the plot far better that flowers, flowers did try a good idea but failed badly.

This one is more to a direct sequel with the characther and seems the Rao Family have a massive feud will explode now.

A bit late, but the kodansha version of Shaman King which was released as digital version on 2018 has been released as a physical edition since June 2020. In total there will be 35 volumes.
V1 ~ v5 was released on 1st June
V6 ~v8 was released on 17th July
V9 ~v11 was released on 17th August
There will be 3 volumes released every month until April (final volume being volume 35) which is exactly the time when the new Shaman King anime airs.

You could say this version will be the best version for Shaman King manga since it will have the additional chapters of Kanzen-ban as well as the omake from both the original Shaman King released by JUMP and Kanzen-ban. Also if you look at the video below you get the redone cover of JUMP version as well as the original JUMP cover hidden underneath.

Shaman King has officially entered the world of dragon ball in terms of power influenza.

I wonder if Shiva's reiryoku is a homeage to Frieza from dragon ball since his final form's max power level was 120,000,000 as well (at least in Namek saga).
Oh yeah, thanks for the update, the last I was watching was that the Death Zero x Itako no Anna the Third - From Flowers fucking finished at last with Hana new OverSoul. So can you give me a summary of what happened after that? I know it was going to be a Butsu Zone arc I think so is this part of it. Is this Shiva one of the past Shaman King or an actual God-class spirit like Shamash?

Yeah, it's currently Dai-Butsu Zone arc.
We are only within the 3rd chapter of the arc.
Shiva would be an God-class spirit since his strength was given in reiryoku and not furyoku.

The new arc stars from Sati trying to recruit Tamao to their side for the FOM. Tamao declines.

Then the focus/setting moves to Kyoto. Asakura Yohkyo was looking at gunpla when he was attacked by the YVS (previous Shaman King) Ten Priest (they are also called Templar Knight). Yohkyo was arrested for theft after that (guess the incident made it look like he was stealing when he wasnt).

The focus shifts back at Funbari oka.
Komeri from Gandhara appears. She meets the Boku no Ryuu the 2nd. He follows her thinking that she's in trouble. Someone interrupts them and it was Shiva. Komeri uses her two spirit to take him down but her spirits were defeated effortlessly by Shiva.

And the latest story ended there.
