The Christmas day is coming, and everyone share their own precious feelings each others. Jin is looking for something important, while Nanami gets involved in Sorata's date, but the latter is still looking after Mashiro for some obvious reasons. Unfortunately, things gets rather unfortunate when Jin is dumping Misaki for love. Another decent episode, although I do miss some aspects the first half episode. I can't wait to see the reason behind Misaki's broken heart for Jin.

Mashiro part is done very well, the scene at the water fountain is very emotional :p
Jin does say he love Masaki but as he is right now he cannot treasure her so he refuse her advance, Masaki is heart broken because Jin is kind, so kind that even if she want him to hurt her aka outright saying he doesn't love her even if it is a lie, he cannot do it, that why she breakdown.

I agree that the snow part was pretty emotionnal indeed and the animation was absolutely striking.

still hate Sorota hah but if he ends up making Shiina happy then all is well ^_^. I feel bad for Aoyama that she will most likely get rejected (if she and Sorota get together I will have wasted 24 eps x 22 mins of my life lol) but it needs to be done for things to work out.

I feel for Misaki. There is literally nothing she can do in this situation. All she can do is be stuck waiting on Jin. Until he graduates into being someone.
It was tough getting ot the eventual reconciliation between Mashiro and Sorata. Mashiro doing all she could, but frankly unable to figure out what had Sorata angry much less how to resolve the situation. Pretty much relying on the power of Baumkuchen to resolve all problems :heh:. I'm impressed that for once it was the teacher who had advice to give out. There was no way to resolve this problem until Sorata was willing to actually do something. Just getting pissed without explaining anything was never going to solve the problem.
While one might get angry at Mashiro for doing something reckless, it was her being reckless that helped solve this. Heading out with a deluxe treat to try and make Sorata happy :). As usual though love how Mashiro losing her shoes translates into "they went somewhere while I was walking" :heh:. Sadly this was all she could do. There are just some things she doesn't get and this was the result of her best efforts. At least it pushed Sorata to admit what drew him to Mashiro in the first place. It's not that she needs to make lunches to make him happy.
I feel for Nanami standing by and listening to it all. At least she got the chance to drop the bomb about her future being decided soon. Unfortunately she gave herself an out. She's betting everything on passing this upcoming audition instead of confessing now and putting it all out there. Will see how it turns out for her. But at least for those who like this pairing Nanami got a lot of nice moments.
One of the few joke quotes "It's not a skit. It's baumkuchen." - Mashiro
Episode was done amazingly well. Nanami looked amazing, and was a total bro at the end. Mashiro is trying so hard, but is so bad it's comedic. Poor shoes. Jin continues to be a freaking idiot. Rita and Ryuunosuke get a total of about 40 seconds of airtime, and still manage to be awesome.

There are more ships in this episode than the entire 5th fleet.
I've got to say, EVERY girl in this episode looked stunningly beautiful one way or another; whether it's Mashiro's elegant dress, Nanami's adorable casuals, or Misaki's... Erm... Yeah...
But seriously, how many people went into this episode thinking that Sorata would actually ditch Nanami's date entirely :p ? Haven't you all learned anything from episode 6's seiyuu test :heh: ?

wow, episode was very festive. Even the title screen and ending sequence was all snowy.
I feel bad for Aoyama. At least my worries about the play/movie didn't happen.
At least they managed to meet up and get the 'date' finished. I was worried that Sorata would end up not showing up or leaving her in the middle to find Shiina.
I liked the delivery of Sorata's surprise on seeing Aoyama all dressed up for the first time, so exaggerated lol.
But at least they finished the play, and Sorata just picked up Shiina earlier than expected. grr....still rooting for you Aoyama, even though I feel you just be a sacrifice.
I think Jin is too damn stubborn. Putting too much heartache on Misaki just because he isn't satisfied with himself and his own accomplishments.
From the preview, looks like Sorata is going to bring Misaki, Aoyama and Shiina to his house for New Years. Looking forward to that.

It was nice seeing the girls in a different style, the art was well made and well...can't say much more..it's just good. Two thumbs up.
The episode showed more of Mashiro and how she tries to do things in her own way since she doesn't know much about the common things in the world. It also provides a good Mashiro 101 for Sorata, hopefully it'll help him grow from only having negativity by being with her. As with the previous episode, I kinda feel bad for Nanami to have stood there and see/hear everything. The development with Jin was pretty interested as well, he obviously had a ring ready but ended up not using it. I'm going for he realized that Misaki is already ready for the whole thing, but he isn't.

Poor Aoyama. They are really going out of their way to make us pity either one of the losers should the anime have a romantic conclusion, aren't they? IMO, unless you are of the stance that Love triangles are inherently bad in themselves, this is a sign of a well done Love-triangle, where you end up sympathizing with both parties involved.

I feel that I want Sorata and Jin to slap them in the face. They're so dense and confused right now!
Although Jin said that he loves Misaki, I think that he wants her the same way as before. Man, he's such an asshat!
This is one of the few animes where I cannot decide which girl to root for. Especially in todays episode it feels so bad when either one of them gets hurt. I can't remember the last time an anime made me feel this way.

Regarding Nanami.
She should know by now where she stands in the lovetriangle.
And I don't see any reason to feel really bad for her. Sure, the guy she likes doesn't liike her back, but Sorata is not the only guy in the world and she is not ugly or a bad person so she will find someone who will love her back.
Jin is just an idiot. The only thing that is holding him back is is huge inferiotiy complex. What a moron.
About Sorata and Mashiro.
Nothing much to say except that I`m happy that they made up and she looks incredible beautiful.

Wow, this is what drama is about. I absolutely loved this episode.
If I ever met a real person like Mashiro with the beauty yet cluelessness, I'm not sure how I would really react around her. I would love someone who understands me, but at the same time, the other person giving out so much effort but not sure what to do is very endearing in its own way. The question is probably how this will become in the long run. If Mashiro can learn and adapt, this will make a spectacular relationship.

Althoug I'm a die-hard "hater" of dramatic love triangles due to a handful of negative experiences in other media, Sakurasou's might turn out to be the first one that will be made correctly and without being dragged out too much, too much of unnecessary angst and/or made of BS.

This was the best looking episode so far. But progression for the main leads wasn't the expected one from a Christmas episode. It was disappointing that Nanami did nothing after all that build up, she simply triggered her own Death Flag with that little speech. Sorata simply went back to be the same guy he was 2 episodes ago. And Mashiro was just a victim of Sorata's character regression.
I can relate to and understand Jin's feelings but I can't see why he can't talk things out properly with his significant other and avoid this extra suffering. Poor communication is a very tired way to extend the drama.
Ryuunosuke/Rita keep being the most entertaining characters to watch with less than a minute of screentime. This talks plenty about how apathetic I feel for the rest of the show. It's far from a bad anime and I watch the episode as soon as I get it, but it's been 14 episodes and I have never been at the edge of my seat.
My final impression for SakuPet 14 is that Toradora! keeps being the anime with the best Christmas episode.

It was great episode with a lot of drama.
The only comedy if only for a brief moment was hilarious, Rita trying to have nice conversation with Ryuunosuke over the computer on Christmas eve. But as expected there was no way Maido chan was going to let that happend! :heh:
It's great that Sorata and Mashiro made up, I just wish Nanami didn't have to be hear what Sorata said to Mashiro. Even though it was unintentional, Mashiro did kind of end their(Sorata and Nanami) date.
And just when I thought things were finally going Misaki's way this happends! Poor Misaki.:(
Mashiro so beautiful in that dress. :)
ah it's really suffering to be Aoyama, good thing she's cool.
I do understand Jin though, but still I guess it would hurt on Misaki's side.
somehow Sorata let me down again, he just feels so lacking, really pissing me off at the start there. , All through the episode I've been waiting for some kind of apology, and all we got was some vague dialogue. somewhat dodging the issue. everyone who watched with me had the same thought, everyone wanted that apology. oh well...
other thoughts.
- Misaki looked so cute, ( I know she was crying but heck >.<) when she was looking up at Jin, while he was holding her face.
- Aoyama looked beautiful with the hairdown too. Sorata's reaction was same as mine^^
- Rita vs Meido-chan yeah :heh:
ryounusuke looking flabergasted at the sideline. :p
- OH yeah, direction wise i loved what they did starting from the middle( just before Aoyama & sorata met) where everyone was thinking about their own personal situations. then going back to pre christams preparations. well done.
Shiina seems like a cockblock this episode and it seems like she interrupts every chance Nanami has some free time with Sorata. Is it on purpose? I don't remember Nanami doing to same to Shiina even once. Guess you can't blame a girl with autism and a goal.
ugh... how can I love this episode even when my Aoyama was forced to see her beloved guy hugged another girl in front of her eyes...
rather than that... Misaki is cute when she's being honest... Aoyama is SUPER CUTE with that outfit... and Mashiro is also VERY PRETTY with dress...
Ryuunosuke-Rita also got little airtime (enjoying Maid Vs Rita battle)
while Sorata and Jin are totally dumb... although Sorata managed to make up for it in the end
I really enjoyed this episode. Everything from Mashiro up to Rita(she's pretty hot with that Christmas greeting of her ). Man, it's really hard to be on Nanami's situation. It feels like Mashiro is always getting in her way to Sorata.
Also, did Misaki mess up her chance? It seems like Jin was about to propose(?) to her but it was halted.. At least, he already said to her that he loves her but I guess Misaki wanted more than that.
I was confused as to why Jin was getting so much flak even though he had finally confessed... turns out I had missed the after credit scene. I always use the skip button to skip the ED, and it brought me directly to the preview this time. I'm glad I came into this thread or I wouldn't have realized it. Welp, I can only agree Jin's an idiot. That inferiority complex of his got in the way once again. Why can't he accept Misaki loves him the way he is now? They both love each other and it's all that matters. The rest will come naturally.
This episode was breathtaking. A lot of scenes looked gorgeous and the writing was excellent. I can hardly believe J.C Staff is behind this. I'm happy Sorata made up with Mashiro, and sad Nanami is falling behind... Her chances are decreasing as time goes on. Mashiro keeps scoring points with Sorata while she remains at the same spot in his heart. Soon enough she will have no hope of winning. She is trying, but not hard enough.

Great episode!
I liked Nanami's new look (hair down, Grade B Zettai Ryouiki), Mashiro sounds more normal than ever before and slowly loses her monotone voice, and Jin/Misaki finally got some closure, though not really ideal. (but hey, at least Jin told his old friend he's breaking up with his other women).
But then again, poor Nanami is on the short end of the stick in this love triangle.
Next episode, meet the Kanda family. More Yui, Papa-Roy-Mustang and Mama-Kuroko.
I can hardly believe J.C Staff is behind this.
To be fair none of the scriptwriter, storyboarder or episode director of this episode had worked on a JC staff show before sakurasou , and the animation of this episode was outsourced to Artland, so I guess that's understandable ;)

Total agreement with all the praise for this episode. Memorable anime episode. Especially for a romance-aholic like myself. The only discordant note was Jin: I understand what they are doing with him, but it doesn't make sense to me.
Clearly Sorata loves Mashiro, but I think he is also attracted to Nanami. I can't help pondering a true harem -- with Mashiro as principal wife, lol. Not going to happen, I know.
Misaki is a great character. So juicy and passionate and real, for all her ridiculousness. Takamori Natsumi (Misaki Mei in Another) is doing a nice job, with that almost-breaking voice.
And Kayano Ai as Mashiro totally knocked my socks off -- again. Soft power.
To add to what totoum said four posts ago, the writer of this episode was Hanada Jukki, one of the biggest names in anime writing; he was lead writer on Rozen Maiden, Steins;Gate, and Chuunibyou, among many other shows.
The storyboard was by Sayama Kiyoko; she has been active since the early nineties, and did multiple storyboards for shows like Princess Tutu and Moribito, as well as directing Vampire Knight and Skip Beat.
The director who put their work on screen was Ikeda Shigetaka, who directed multiple episodes of Kaiji, One Outs, Steins;Gate and Sword Art Online.
Kind of an all-star team, really.
Okay, just watched the episode completely:
- Sorata = fail in the beginning when he got angry at Mashiro Be it with "reason" or not, it just plainly sucked.
- Nanami was cute, but getting to witness the closest to an probably indirect confession to see at the end was rather harsh.
- Misaki's endless train track theory was quite plausible and explains her usual hyper-approach well. Jin's seriousness towards her during his talk with the ex-student pres. was also good. Breaking of with all his "play dates" underlined his sincerity(?).
- Nanami's dere-dere side when she mentioned her acting appointment and if she passed = important talk was adorable as well. @Sorata: Even if you don't get the hint (which is fine itself), don't ask useless stuff and just agree to hear her out!
- Mashiro's speech + the touching VA-acting was very moving, yet is simply summed up as "I just want(ed) to talk more with you". A++
- Misaki got here indeed the sad "joker" card with Jin's mishmash of confessing to love her as well, but rejecting to offically get together.
@Dauerlutscher: Must feel good to completely undermine the issue of an inferiority complex and simply talk tough and call that issue pathetic.
Sure, Jin could just tell her his train of thought, but a mutual and detailed discussion/conversation is in drama-genres too easy to settle things.

Doesn't matter if I feel good about it or not.
I just call him and idiot and a moron because he behaves exactly that.
He has the girl he loves right there and she loves him back, but he still does such a pathetic thing becaus of his nonsensical inferiority complex.
Stunning episode, in both looks and content.
The girls. What can I say? You could've had the three still shots of them that Chaos2Frozen posted earlier rotating for the entire episode and I still would've loved it.
That being said, the layout and flow of this episode was superb. Those moments where they blended everyone's feelings together, I can't praise them more. Everyone's individual feelings were portrayed to the fullest, and it was great seeing it all. Misaki and her talk of being on a "track", Aoyama and her sheer determination, Mashiro...and everything she did. Nothing but pure joy.
It slightly irked me that Sorata had to get his life lesson spelled out to him like that, but as the teacher said, "He's still a kid". As for Jin, though I can understand why he believes what he believes, I don't agree with what he's doing to Misaki in the least.
I don't mention Dragon and Rita because they win at life automatically. Too much of them would make my screen explode with awesome.
This show is single-handedly giving me an amount of romance-related development and couplings to make up for the lack thereof for the past several years, if not longer. For any Gundam SEED fans in the audience, we've got our overpowered Three-Ship Alliance right here (although I guess it'd be Four/Five-Ship Alliance, depending on how you look at it). Keep it coming Sakurasou!
New Year's at Sorata's? Hell yes.
Nice that Sorata and Mashiro made up. Too bad for Aoyama though. Poor Misaki, she really can't do anything about that. The Rita part was great.

New Year is from 5th book. Anime definitely reach 8th one but most likely material from last two will be cut severaly.
Maid-chan won the episode with her using her virtual phone and for being the one to deny Lisa request to talk with Dragon, for an A.I she is quite amazing.

Meido-chan is best girl.
The triangle, infuriating as it is, is still one of the most skillfully developed plot elements of the show, at least in terms of how it's structured. Mashiro's outlook is clearly closer to Sorata's ideals -- and he says as much to Nanami during the summer fireworks -- but they are very careful to show that Sorata not only admires both girls, but genuinely cares about them, and not just in that BS anime protagonist "he's-kind-to-everyone" sort of way.
Which Vol of the LN we are at this moment. Is it possible to reach Vol 8
They just finish Vol. 4 this episode. Since I think they want to wrap stuff up in 24 episodes, though, sure we'll see some crazy cuts sooner or later (LN will end at Vol. 10 anyway...)
As far as the episode goes...
1. The beginning of Nanamin shafting, although she has been getting shaft since Day 1
2. Well, Christmas episode, where everyone goes raburabu...damn リア充
3. Surprise they didn't use the Misaki scene as cliffhanger like the LN
4. Speaking of Misaki...a lot of service scene for her
5. Rita returns...still can't wait until the Valentine Day episode.
6. Overall episode is not bad. It's still no Toradora ep19, though, as unfair as that comparison is.
7. Next week = return of a certain imouto, and Sorata will has his hands full with his harem...

How about impersonating as somebody else when picking up the phone the first time? Seems to be a Kanda tradition. Even Sorata himself did that to Yuuko.
At least one of Sorata's parents is actually a former Sakurasou resident, most likely the mother. Sorata just didn't know about it.

Great episode.
Looks like Jin still thinks that he doesn't deserve to be with Misaki because of his inferiority complex. I am guessing he wants to be truly Misaki's equal. Meanwhile, Sorata is still dense.
Next episode we have Sorata and friends coming to visit Sorata's house for New Year. This will a blast considering we had a preview of his parents in episode 7. This is one New Year Sorata will never forget.:heh:
Mashiro in that outfit. HNNNGGGGHHHHHH :D:eyespin:

Awesome episode. You can feel the feelings in the voice and the animation. its truly superb but poor Misaki and Nanami. Mashiro is the only one who got happy Christmas.
Beautiful episode, even for this solid series. Great art, great mood.
I was pleasantly surprised to see that Shiina did not interrupt Aoyama's date until it was over. Of course, at the end the unavoidable happens anyway: Kanda Sorata drops everything and runs to Shiina, demonstrating clearly where his anchor is cast.
The Kanda parents may be crazy, but surely sane enough to favor Aoyama, who is the perfect daughter-in-law. Great at housework, polite and considerate, hard worker, normal in all ways, only better. Unfortunately for her, it does not matter what everyone else thinks.

The Kanda parents may be crazy, but surely sane enough to favor Aoyama, who is the perfect daughter-in-law. Great at housework, polite and considerate, hard worker, normal in all ways, only better. Unfortunately for her, it does not matter what everyone else thinks.
Honestly it baffles me why so many people keep on pointing out how PERFECT Aoyama is as a daughter-in-law. The love triangle is about 16 years old, they're in love for the first time. You really think they care about such things at all? Come on.
this story is obviously pointing toward Mashiro and Sorata ending, it almost inevitable unless some tragedy happen. Mashiro obviously love Sorata, and Sorata dream "he confessing to mashiro but got rejected" at the beginning of episode 13 hinting that he actually love her, but he to shy or scare to take action.
I think Aoyama should just confess and get it over with, if she wait any longer she will get even more hurt.
To be fair Shiina has a real neck for getting herself into trouble, so his immediate concern is valid.
Knack, not neck. :p

but someone is making a piano arrangement on different bgms that isn't on OST. like the BGM in ep. 3, the piano cover of days of dash in ep.14 and in ep.21. I also want to hear the piano arr. of kandaXaoyama scene in ep.14 but no one makes it T______T
