So SQEX have announced a HD game and plan to release it in the same year they've announced it? Kudos.

That means the following are coming to PS3 this year from SQEX Japan:

- FFXIV A Realm Reborn: Summer 2013
- FFXIII Lightning Returns : Fall 2013
- KH 1.5 HD ReMIX: Fall 2013
- Drakengard 3: 2013

Not a bad. Hopefully, FF Versus XIII may fit in there or release in Spring 2014.

That's definitely true... after all the crap they've been through in the first game these two really deserve their rest.

Although, having them being mentioned is all good to me even if they're not shown.

Tbh, I'd rather see anyone than Nowe... To me, he was probably the only character to irk me so much to begin with. Hell, I'd even favor that emo Inuart over him any day :heh:

The Utautai (Songstress) are people who exhibit the ability to manipulate magic using songs. The main missions in the game take place on the ground, and the power of the power of the player increases when exposed to blood splatter. Sounds like a M rated game like the previous ones.


The game sure sounds like a hard M-rated game. Blood apparently remains on character clothing and skin (ties in with gameplay too I guess), Zero is a liberal minded woman who is open to sexual relations with multiple partners, the visual themes in the game appear to be "erotic" and "bloodstained", etc.

EDIT: Yeah this definitely looks like Drakengard game after viewing the screens, empty environments, lackluster in game models, and texture all in all. Barely better than Nier really. lol Still very interested though.

finish the games. the 3rd one gotten me interested with a female lead.

the graphic does looks a little lackluster from the screenshots. i hope they polished it some
before the game's out. looking forward to some more news. and i see some
blood...i like it bloody like 1. 1 was pretty cool.

Seems like it, because they say that Zero's personality is that a of lazy person mixed with a very violent nature.... kinda like a fat drunk wife-beater but in the form of a woman and much hotter.

Hell, it's the Drag-on Dragoon (Drakengard) series, of course it's gonna be fucked up, it's they're trademark.


The Japanese version of Drakengard, Drag-On Dragoon, featured such taboo plot points as incest and pedophilia.

However, this was toned down or outright removed from American version, but not completely (Angelus: Because you are brother and sister? What manner of excuse is that?).

The Japanese version of the game featured several very adult oriented themes, and many characters had more than questionable sexual orientations and/or perversion.

Leonard is actually a pedophile, and Furiae feels sexual desire for her brother.

Arioch, who has lost her womb from her pact and gone mad, enjoys killing and eating children.

While all of this isn't reflected in the actual game play, it is inside cut scenes and conversations between characters.

Most of these were removed in the American version of the game, making certain cut scenes very difficult to understand. For example, when partly possessed by "The Watchers", Furiae chooses to kill herself, rather than reveal her feelings for her brother, but the censorship makes the reasons for her actions very unclear.

Drakengard 2 is like the kiddie version but with better mechanics... slightly better.

I guess anyone knows at this point that the video game called NIER is also related to the Drag-on Dragoon (Drakengard) series... and NIER... well, "NIER Replicant" (the japanese version and true version IMO) is just as screwed-up as Drag-on Dragoon.

In Nier Replicant, the younger incarnation of Nier is the main character. He is brother to Yonah, and is searching for a cure for the disease she suffers from, the Black Scrawl virus.

Nier is a teenage boy whose parents died some years ago. He lives with his sister Yonah in their parents' former house, and takes odd jobs from others in the village for money to take care of them both.

In the story "Red and Black" from Grimoire Nier, it is revealed that at the age of 15 he was coerced into an implied homosexual relationship with a man in Seafront, in exchange for money to help care for Yonah. He despised the man, and when he later joined an expedition to kill Shades, which by coincidence the man had joined as well, it is implied that during the battle Nier took the opportunity to kill the man. It was this event that made Nier unsure of the distinction between humans and Shades, as he found that killing them "felt the same".

The CG look gorgeous but I know people will aim for the in-game graphics with heavy weaponry. Don't care about graphics myself as long as gameplay and atmosphere is on the level.

With that being said, it looks a lot less clunky than Drakengard 2.
If Nier is anything to go by, at least it'll have better gameplay than either of the two Drakengards. I still wouldn't expect the game to look particularly good though - Cavia and ex-Cavia aren't exactly known for that. The sound design should be excellent though.

Ugh. I don't know about anyone else but DOD stages have always been one of the worst parts of the series due how long there and fact most of time your just doing same thing. If there more variety beyond "kill everything in bland barren landscape!". I can only this has been improved somewhat.

The only complaint I have so far is that they don't go very far into the sisters and their relationships with Zero and one another. Yes, we get insight due to the dialogue during the boss battles. Like Four's for example. But with the short stories we've been getting for the sisters over the previous weeks how much we actually get in the game is actually disappointing. Granted I haven't seen all of the game, only through the first two chapters (Five & Four). So there might be more when it comes to Three and Two. I'm expecting One to get a good amount of development.

Even the amount of screen time they get is sad. After the opening, which is great and gets you pumped up to see more of them and have them interact more with Zero, all you see of them afterwards is what you get when you fight them as bosses. :(

I just wish we could have gotten more of them. Developed them more on screen. They all had interesting back-stories, Four being my personal favorite :D, and not all of them feel the same way towards on how to deal with Zero. Now I did hear we get more with the different paths and endings but to what degree I don't know.

What I got after like 20 minutes of gameplay including intro:

Awesome CG movie
Decent combat system, Utautai (Rape) Mode is fun I guess
Somewhat lackluster in game background art/QC; was ok still at the castle, but at the ... swamp place right after the first prologue was looking pretty meh, though I heard this is not actually SE but completely outsourced or something? There are parts where the character's literally float-walking and feet very obvious not even near the ground
Somewhat perverse sense of humor; baby dragon penis, baby dragon peeing (lots of it), and baby dragon trolling
Extremely awesome Uchida Maaya voice acting (her best ever imo)
Interesting combat dialogues
Very derp English verse (+1 point for "'thirstful' whore" and -1 for pretty much making up things with known axioms)


Honestly, I'd keep watching this just for Uchida Maaya cause I would never get to hear this side of her voice in anime, but that nicovideo just sealed the deal for me (though I'm more curious about the horse http://i.imgur.com/EeK7xd1.png).

Anyway, is DG3's story stand alone? If not, is there like a 3-sentence-ish (approx.) summary for the previous ones to get me up to speed? Are the web novels worth reading? Sorry if this have been brought up in the previous posts I might've missed 'em.

I'm nearly at the final boss, and as I've been spoiled as to what it is mechanically (thankfully I don't know the story behind that appearance) I'm prepared to succumb to madness ^^;

Yes, this game is out sourced. Yokotaro's under-resourced company does not have the power to develop the whole thing themselves, and we know we can't expect Square to help them.

The company the game out-sourced to is... not good. As far as I know, almost all of that company's game has terrible loading problem, and really really bad at optimizing the game.

DoD3 ties into DoD1 related franchise. Though a summary would be hard....
I also recommend reading the on line novel too, and you'll understand what Octa is doing with the horse...
Remember, all the apostles are hentai, gross level hentai.

Mosr are just for show, but Caim and Eris' outfit are absolutely great.
The 5% damage boost from caim's outfit is extremely helpful on money time attack missions to grind cash.
Eris is simply overpowered by allowing guarding without consumption, which translates to perfect unbreakable guard.

amazon now has drakengard 3 available for pre-order. it looks like it was added last week. it's the standard edition with a pre-order DLC bonus. just thought i'd pass the word along if anyone didn't want to deal with digital river through the square enix site.
