There's some reasoning that it might be the case, and it also points towards it being a collection of side stories rather than continuing from where volume 22 left off.

So, Rokujouma is probably my favorite novel. Aside from the fact I'm totally in love with the LN, the fact that it's the only japanese LN I imported from Japan is pretty much an indicator to how much I like it.

Anyway, my vocabulary and kanji knowledge aren't enough to read it raw without help from dictionaries, so I can't read ahead. (Would be fine if I had the epub raws, but I'm not rich enough to buy the paper version and the epub version) That why I'm really thankful to Warnis!

I wonder if its intentional that out of the girls the two that need Koutarou the most is the magical girls. Maki needs him for emotional support. I fear she would commit suicide if left to her own devices and Yurika just wouldn't be able to function as a human without him.

List in order of how I view the girls co-dependence on Koutarou. Though if you add him to the mix he would probably be first. He relies on all of them as an emotional support. He's sort of a hallow shell of emotions without them.

She seems to be someone just as happy being friends.

Anyone care to challenge the order I have them listed? Just curious how after 15 volumes others see the characters current progress in the harem department. Personally the one I wish he ended up with is Alaia, but that's a sunk ship.

So the preview of volume 23 got released today, they were unexpectedly based too, it's of chapter 4, the one that's not already over on yomeru. Title is 恋する修学旅行 Something like 'Loving Schooltrip' no idea if it is a reference to anything, or what it would be to if it was, because 恋する+noun seems to be a fairly common construction.

The summary of 23 isn't actually from the preview, it's part of it that's already published as a WN. The volume will use three chapters from there and has a chapter that is exclusive to the published version (which had the start of it in the preview), it's a side volume and I personally wouldn't say the Fortorthe arc is over, it's just being separated out.

The physical training Ruth had started with during the later half of last year had shown very promising results as they entered February

In volume 9. Now, in volume 16, we're in July. So she has been training at the very least 7 months. (in the case "later half of last year" = December. I personally don't think so, I think she must have been training for 9-10 months)

Even though it's rather considerable, for a girl who was "weak" at the start, 10 months should put her at the same level as an average girl I guess.

My only problem is that she is a knight and was supposed to have received training since young. From volume 3 :
With the situation being the way it is, Ruth was armed, just like Theia.

She wasn't using firearms, but a large sword and shield.

Since she was from a house of knights, she was pretty good with those.

What's more, when it comes to beetles, she is pretty strong. So yeah, Ruth's physical abilities are a little strange.

At first she had been completely out of breath after running, but that was no longer the case. She lightly wiped some sweat away and smiled at Koutarou.

Not related to Rokujouma, but I started to read Haruka ni Aogi, Uruwashi no. Half of the VN was written by Takehaya, and the part he wrote (Main School routes) are quite good apparently.
Being a Takehaya fanboy, I had to read it. I just started, and I read rather slowly, so I didn't reach any route yet, but I hope Takehaya will live up to my expectations.

Finished Miyabi's route in Haruka ni Aogi, Uruwashi no, and damn, Takehaya is such a good writer. It's funny and heart-warming, like Rokujouma.

And not just the story, the characters too. Miyabi is basically Theia's prototype. She is a little more childish and has a different background, but her character growth is basically like Theia's. Because of this, I couldn't help but love the characters even more. And in the end, it also make me love Theia and Ruth more. Now I want to reread all their scenes again.

Yes, it's a VN. Takehaya was a VN writer before being a LN writer.
Try googling 'Chiitrans fuwanovel', you should find a tutorial.

If I had to say the major difference with Rokujouma, it's that the VN is written at the first person, so the description of the feelings isn't the same. It's better for the character you have the POV of, because it's more in depth, but you know less about the others. Thankfully, Takehaya make a change of POV to let us know more about the other characters.

Also, only half the VN is written by Takehaya. Don't even waste your time with the other half. (well, reviews say that at least one route of the other side is good, but you have to do the other two routes to unlock it).
No need for a walkthrough, it's pretty straightforward, just make sure you choose "Righ" for the first choice.

Anyway, if you guys like Rokujouma as much as me, and thus, like Takehaya's writing, then I hope you will try to read it and enjoy it as much as me!

Well, I've gotten hold of (I think) all of his LNs, just not had chance to read them yet, work for now, then carrying on with what I'm already translating and reading, hell, I think when I need a new project, it'll probably be his other series. I haven't actually read its summary yet, but I liked the title 'On the Wind and Notes of the Lute' sounds pretty cool I thought. 9 volumes but it's unfortunately not being published anymore.

I really like all the SOL volumes, so hercules if it counted, but

13 because of the angel comment with Ruth
9 because of various Ruth moments
23 because of the bit I spoiled the other week probably. Also any of the bits that had Maki being cute/comforted

The "point five" volumes for me, as they were not only an excellent stand-alone, but also dramatically shifted the landscape of the series, as it sets up the ongoing Myth Arc via Koutaro being the Blue Knight. It was also the catalyst for the series to fully shift from normal harem shenanigans to the adorable love-fest it is today.

Well, the .5 are definitely specials. They are the turning point who made Rokujouma my favorite novel.

To be honest, I didn't really like Kiriha at first. While she grew on me, she seemed lacking compared to the others. Then her backstory and Kii happened and she damn near melted me to a puddle.

Ruth was someone else I had trouble connecting with, though not to the extent with Kiriha. And I've never been fond of the fake fiance cliche. But watching Koutaro call his sword down, reveal himself and tell the bastard that consequences be damned, Ruth stays with him, that was the most epic thing I've seen from this series yet. And it led to much more solo screen time for Ruth, increasing her appeal greatly.

Maki is my favorite girl. If Koutaro would stop being so damn epic she'd be my favorite character here period. Her desperate internal struggle, her connection with Koutaro, and the way the two of them healed each other was executed perfectly. I've read most volumes twice. I've read hers at least five times.

I have trouble connecting with both Kiriha volumes. I admit I have only read Kii once, and this ongoing double volume about the Underground being in danger...I liked the Sun Rangers more than whatever was going on with Kiriha. Maybe because the conflict isn't exciting to me. There were times when I thought it was interesting, but I think it's mainly because the Underground Radical Faction are crappy antagonists for me.

This is feel super long that it took me more than 1 hour just to read it entirely. Maybe because it's dense in content.

Also this chapter finally confirmed that indeed Fortorthe alchemist is People of Earth ancestor and Magician is Folsarian ancestor. Wonderful time paradox indeed.

Also the best part is still smug Kou and GOL which is an idealized version of "The Super Koutarou I've Thought Up" plan from Theia.

Next week will be the closure. From the look of it they will also have a Zord which should make Sun Ranger envious.
