View Full Version : About the summoning techniques

Up to now most of the important main characters have a form of animal they can summon:

Naruto & Jiraya = frogs
The 3rd = monkeys
Kakashi = dogs
Gai = turtles(appeared during Gai's first appearance)
Oro = Snakes
Gaara = maybe Shukaku? (They call it a racoon no?)

Who else would you think have a summoning technique and what do you think it is? Maybe there are lions, tigers & bears. Oh my!

Also are these things immortal? What would happen if they were defeated? If they're immortal they could basically disappear and require a fixed time to recover before being able to be summoned again. I assume they're immortal just as the Kyubi is immortal but if they're not then what would happen if say gamabunta dies, no more big talking frogs. It also seems to me that the "special" ones you can summon can speak.

Shukaku is not a summon its a old sand priest who is sealed inside a tea kettle and then sealed inside Garaa. they are not Immortal.

May as well toss that question into my overall discussion, what other animals do you expect to see being summoned in the future?

I'd think Sakura should get one just so she could be useful! I bet she'd summon it to squash Ino.

When Gambunta left, he went out like Naruto's shadow replications... but of course a much bigger *poof* :heh:

and when Shukaku was defeated, he melted away into sand. Garra seems to do the same when he teleports, makes a sand replicaton, etc.

I always saw them as vanishing (back to their realm or wherever they came from) like that. they seem to be able to choose to leave too. unlike how Naruto's replications stay till they're defeated.

She gets slugs. Like Tsunade.
Choji has some sort of butterfly thing, but I don't know if it's a summon

So, in the future I expect to see slugs from Sakura, Snakes from Sasuke, and maybe some more butterfly things with Choji (maybe a summon, who knows)

Um,

We don't know if Sakura will get slugs--that's an assumption on your part--and were you even really reading the manga chapter where Choji's "butterly thing" happened? Read it again--you're really really really wrong here. It's not even closer to a summon. Sheesh, I can't believe you missed the whole concept of the red pill, even after they made such a big deal about it.:twitch: Oh well, that's what superquick reading does for you!:heh:

I guess you must not have read my post for what it actually said.
This should clear things up.

We don't know for sure if she gets them. Of course, she's in a bunch of Naruto posters with the slug, and on a manga cover I believe. I'm pretty confident she does though.

I know that Choji thing wasn't a summon. I thought it was pretty clear in my post that it was "a butterfly thing" that Choji does, thing being the word I said instead of summon. If I meant summon I would have said it. He basically gets wings that look like butterfly wings. I know it's not a summon, but I'm saying that we don't know if he'll eventually get some sort of butterfly-esque summon.
Also, in my line: "Maybe a summon, who knows"
I'd like to point out "maybe" as in he might get a summon later
and "who knows" as in I don't know if he ever will.

I understood the whole red pill concept... I didn't just look at the pictures.
I know the pills aren't "magic butterfly transformation pills" I simply made an observation about his appearance after eating the red pill which "you will most surely die from taking" and getting that 100x strength boost.

I'm just saying "hey, get got butterfly wings, he might have some butterfly connection, MAYBE that relates to a summon".
I do not, at all, consider him looking like a butterfly that time as a summon.

Not all summons are "animal" or "beast" types. You can summon "objects" as well, i.e. to use as a weapon, for defense, etc.

yes like a giant door!!! Greatest summon ever. :D
Also xyrrus, there's no reason to believe summons are immortal. They expend chakara like a person, and have families. If they were immortal, there would be no point to that. :)

Butterfly has absolutely nothing to do with summoning, it's like a messanger, Shikimaru felt from the butterfly's presence that Chouji died, that why when the butterfly passed him, he had the expression on his face, think of it as a visual sixth sense. Chouji didn't summon the butterfly, it's just a way for you the reader to know that Shikimaru sensed that Chouji died, I think there was an old saying that butterflys can tell someone about someone else's fate. (The saying could be asian oriented.)

About Sakura and the slug, they're just mirroing the Legendary 3. Sakura = Tsunade, Naruto = Jiraiya, Sasuke = Orochimaru. I'm not saying they're going to be the legendary 3, it's just mirrorism. Since they resemble the formers so much. Nothing more nothing less, yes Sakura may get a summon, but we won't know until she gets it.

I remember seeing a giant lizard or dragon in a flashback scene in one of the episodes. I think ep 38-40. It was a flash back of 2 ninjas and they both summoned 2 different monsters to fight each other.

I remember that too.

Since Sasuke is on his way to Oro and assuming he makes it, he is probably going to make a contract with snakes or whatever you need to make Manda and other snake summons yours.

I would like to see Shikamaru's summoning, that thing would be super smart :heh:

Aah, You meant Enma's transformation into the free-forming Diamond Pole. That was cool.

The summon I'd like to see is that of Konohamaru. I enjoyed seeing Enma fight and I was wondering if the scroll for this summoning was in the third Hokage's bloodline. If so that could mean that Konohamaru had signed the scroll as well and that we could see the return of Enma. That could be cool.

And I'd like of flashback of the fourth summoning Gamabunta just like in the intro to the first episode. Finally somebody who can control the freakin' thing, at least I think he can.

Gamabunta even said he was the strongest brat he had ever seen :D

Yes they are getting along. But Naruto doesn't have any real control over Gamabunta now does he. He can summon him and tell him to fight but after that Gamabunta can pretty much move on his own. Now if it was Yondaime. A fellow with a nice amount of power and a lot of respect from people, such a guy seems to me to have control over Gamabunta and be able to drag out his full potential. I mean there’s got to be something more that he can do than the Water Bullet and Combi Henge. I'd just like to see that happen.

My original post got deleted, but I said that probably
shika will summon a deer
Ino will summon a piggy
chougi will summon a butterfly

Cause that is what there 3 names signify in japan (theres supposed to be a card game and you get ino-shika-cho combo)

Also if they were to get a summon, they prob wont though.
Shino would summon a giant dung beetle cause he likes bugs
Kiba would summon nin dogs like kakashi.
Neji would summon a bird of prey cause he wants to free like a bird.
An alternative summon for shika would be Alabama Man so he could beat on all those girls :D

Why does everyone need a summon?

If everyone had them they wouldn't be unique. Go watch digi-mon or something if you want everyone to have monsters fight for them.

I should add if Itachi doesn't have a summon though he still has to have some way to fight them if Oro says itachi is stronger.

You realise most of them won't learn how to summon or even need to e.g Shino.

Some summons from the manga:- There will be a spider summon by that sound guy with 6 arms :D
- 3 ghost (look alike creatures) by that sound girl :p and indeed
- a door... but it's more like a wall :p

When Gambunta left, he went out like Naruto's shadow replications... but of course a much bigger *poof* :heh:

I probably think this because the first time he used it was against Mizu...somthing :p (in ep 1), he made like hundreds of those clones and i don't think he'd knocked them all down before they dissapeared :D

Another thing, i don't think that butterfly from Chouji is a summon, it's just a large amount of chakra formed as butterfly wings, like Naruto once made/formed Kyuubi's head with his chakra (battle with Haku)

The Sakura with slug thing.

Wasn't those posters meant to show the resemblance with the three legendary nins.

Naruto - toad - Jiraiya
Sasuke - Snake - Orochimaru
Sakura - Slug - Tsunade

Personally I don't think Sakura will ever get a summon. She has way to low chakra for that at this time and the difference between Sakura and Tsunade is that Tsunade is strong as hell and has been trained by the 3rd while Sakura has been getting like no training at all from Kakashi.
If Sakura gets training from Tsunade well thats another thing.

Tsunade also got her strength by blood and you don't need massive chakra to perform a summon, remember Naruto and his tadpoles? :D

When Naruto summoned Bunta for the first time, even Jiraya said that he couldn't control him. Bunta isn't being controlled, he's more like coörperating with the one who's summoned him.

Yet Bunta would fight the Kyubi? Bunta says a lot of things but I think he's actually pretty decent, he just likes to break a few balls, if his son wasn't there, he'd prob make up some other reason to fight. He just likes to be defiant to Naruto cuz he's just a kid.

I laughed so much when Jiraiya said "You got no talent at all!!!" then Naruto "Look it is bigger then last time" then pointing at the small tadpole(Maybe some bigger then last time).
Anyway don't underestimate the tadpoles! Just imagine those insane fireballs they can cast!

*ontopic* I don't think Sasuke or Sakura will get a summon. I can't remember seeing Orochimaru having the scroll for the snakes or Tsunade having the scroll fom the slugs ? Only Jiraiya is wearing the big scroll on his back, and I don't think Orochimaru or Tsunade will leave their scrolls anywhere, without beeing there themself that is.
Just imagine Tsunade on a trip in the wood or so, and then later she come home at her place, and alot of small kids have played around with her scroll and typed their name with blood then starts summoing small slug babyes :P

But clearly Gamabunta had respect for the 4th or something like that, or maybe the 4th told Bunta his intentions.

I reckon bunta would have gotten his butt kicked by the Kyuubi though :/

Naruto doing a Nine Tails summoning would be badass. i wonder if that'll ever happen. (keep in mind i haven't read the manga)

We dont really know if he fought the nine tails or not. They might've attacked eachother for some time before the 4th thought it was hopeless and sealed the nine-tails.

I thought it was obvious in anime ep #1?

The Konoha nin's were fighting the Kyuubi unsuccessfully, then bunta steps in, stand off for a bit, then seal.
