This year's ninth issue of Akita Shoten's Weekly Shōnen Champion magazine is announcing on February 5 that a television anime adaptation of Eiji Masuda's Jitsu wa Watashi wa ([Actually,] I Am…) manga has been green-lit for this year.

Premise/Summary:
Meet Kuromine Asahi, "the man who can't lie," On the way home, he just learned an important secret. That his crush, Shiragami Youko, is actually a vampire!

Can Asahi actually keep her secret?

It's a fun, clumsy, one of a kind vampire romantic comedy!

Oh god, I am so pumped for this. I think this is honestly the funniest harem manga I've ever read.

Then again, the comedy relies on comedic timing and usage of formulas so it's easy to imagine how the adaptation could fail to live up to the manga.

Ika Musume was fantastic and Mondaiji-tachi was a solid adaptation of what to me seemed like mediocre source material. Haven't seen Servant x Service but I'm inclined to be optimistic about this director.

Also, I think people shouldn't be too quick to judge the faces. A lot of times that stuff just doesn't come through in the promotional material.

But the way they did the Visual look like they didn't capture the spirit of manga. Youko is cute and has a seductive pose in the visual but She's supposed to be dumb, clumsy and as unsexy (Cool beauty (lol)).

The thing about all of those manic manga faces is that as can be seen in the images themselves, they actually go into an art shift that doesn't even respect the original art style anyway, apart from having to keep identifiable features intact - the most blatant would be the blank-eyed shots used in your example, or the simplified faces.

Hence why I pointed out that they can pretty much do a similar thing in the anime: have the characters art-shift into manic when the scene calls for it.

I for one want to see how exactly they'll handle this first, before deriding it as "impossible".

The example I was thinking of with the SHAFT statement was Nisekoi. That's another harem comedy with a quirky visual style and SHAFT basically nailed the look exactly. But that anime must have cost a boatload of money to make what with all the absurd animation and top-tier voice acting talent.

At a practical level, getting the reaction faces and Akane correct are what will make or break the series. If the faces don't work, a lot of the humor is lost. If Akane comes off wrong, she goes from a wonderful & hilarious chaos agent to something really irritating. That would kill the series if it comes off wrong.

So, here's hoping it comes out brilliant. Also, I really hope we get the sweet-making competition.
