I saw it raw. On a completely unrelated note I think they added the scene Kiryuu explains her ability to measure a man's thing even with clothes on, but I'm not sure. I understand as much Japanese as I do Physics.

They did that in season 2.

Um... no they didn't, I'm pretty sure they only talked to Kiryuu about the Karaoke stuff in NEW.

I'm glad it wasn't Mad House or Bones or another big studio that made DxD anime. Since TNK is small it doesn't have any choice besides doing DxD sequels for the rest of their life. :p

The quality may not be the best, but hey, at least isn't as bad as Toei.

I recently watched the whole season 2 and OVA, with the new scenes, less than a week ago. It did not happen in season 2.

I'm not finding it either. *sigh* Probably mixed up when she said it since I haven't checked up on that part of the series in a while. Also, I'd never mix up Motohama's and Kiryu's powers Jop. They're to amazing for something like to happen and even if it did, that would only be under the belief that Motohama had it for men. :heh:

EDIT: On another note, Funimation still doesn't have the episode yet though I just found out they have all of season 2 dubbed, uncensored, and with extra scenes for free viewing and it won't change to premium until June.

I cant believe i'm saying this after 1 episode but i'm absolutely dreading this season because so far the signs are there that we are headed for utter disaster in this season. From the first 3 minutes of the story they are doing some very problematic things.
Emphasizing THAT is a terrible idea (and to everyone who knows what it is DONT YOU DARE SAY) and dont answer if anybody else asks. Visually it was certainly DxD and the lack of censoring is beautiful as always but this could be a terrifying season. Doing 5 6 and 7 seemed dangerous to begin with but with this first episode animators YOU MADE THE WRONG CHOICE

EDIT: Though 1 thing i found comical is that YKW (for LN watchers also) looks like Makoto from School days :heh::heh:
I don't think I've ever seen you say anything nice about a show. Whenever I see you come in and comment I know its something negative about whatever episode of whatever show.

Usually followed by DxD praise. Seeing as you are hating this already, I'm thinking you need to relook at your life and maybe give up anime all together. It seems you no longer enjoy it. Just stick to manga and or LN.

We had super rare season 1 and 2 where it was almost 100% identical to the LN. THat doesn't happen. Hell even one fothe best movie series of all time "lord of the rings" when from a book perspective took many big liberties and changed things, but I still LOVE the movies. If you watch anime expecting to see a compeltely faithful adaptation fo the manga you will be disapointed. Even long running series like One Piece, Bleach, Fairy Tail, ect taht do show everything from the manga mess with its pacing or other things that make it vastely inferior to its source

Too many changes, too many changes. I am also scared of what this is going to be... Cant say more cause anti spoilers freaks, but damn.

And yes, season 1 and 2 were faithful and maybe we are a little bit spoiled because of it. But I want this to be good and how things are now I have mixed feelings. It was an ok chapter, but felts misplaced somehow.
Time will tell if this season will be good or not.

Well saw the episode, and sure enough there's nothing wrong with it. It's fine you bloody alarmists. Art, animation, music are all good. So there's a few minor changes here and there, life will still somehow manage to go on. Seriously people need to relax these days. It's simple entertainment, not something to nitpick and harp on.

To me changeling the script at all is almost always bad it never ends well as they say don't fix whats not broke I've seen lots of people like you say the 1:1 thing and it normally ends with ever a anime original ending or they rush though way to much content I'd say akame ga kill would be the former and nanatsu no Taizai the latter, some times sometimes its even worse cuz the director thinks he can write the story better than the author and we get a pile of crap that no one likes.

Then finally there's the fourth type were they make stupid changes to the script removing scenes people wanted to see or change how a scene happened for no real reason(the new fate stay night anime feels this way to me) the shows are still good but you it just leaves a lot of people think why? Why change/remove a scene that was already perfect.

In this cause it's a bit early to judge but it might end up rushing or the fourth type and even worse they are adding filler is the filler good? yes is the filler good for foreshadowing and ise and co characters? yes should they be adding it when they already doing 3 volumes up from 2 which are quite page heavy? the answer is a big fat NO.

I'm an avid LN reader (well, as much as they're translated), and I'm not too happy with this development either.

It's like what some non-named game developers do to adaptation games ... "can you see, can you see all the shinies we did for you, all the awesomeness, yeah, we can program, and we can make graphics, and it's all epic, can you see, CAN YOU SEE?"

Point is, I don't really care. When I watch an adaptation, I want to see all I read and imagined in actual motion. That's all. Truth is, we don't really need all the shiny stuffz added, since (for whoever reads D×D, will probably at least be familiar with what I'm saying) I think the LN is alredy shiny enough. This is like saying the LN isn't good enough, so we're gonna polish it up. Well, no need for that, thank you very much.

You know, it seems we're calling him YKW. Alright then. YKW should appear later. And he does in the second episode. Episode 1 starts, and we can alredy see 2 months ahead, and D×D readers know how much 2 months is in terms of this series' timeline. And that's bad. If this series is going to be 1 cour (I'm still hoping for 2), then it's a one-way ticket to content butchery and slashing out chunks and pasting them together to get a big messy abstract art.
That way, this isn't a sequel. It's a very long OVA series. Nothing wrong with that, but if I'm told "sequel", and I get an "OVA series", then I'll probably burst a few veins. And I'm not alone with that.

Yeah, well, I'm sarcastic. I'm fine with that, I know it, I don't care. I will be disappointed? Of course I will be. Doing stuff as faithful as possible to stuff that's awesome should be considered natural, since doing it another way is like saying "your stuff sucks". Are you going to say I'm frickin' overreacting?

And PLEASE, don't compare an LN which has 14 + 2 bloody novels worth of content to be done to something like One Piece and Bleach, which have to be fillered to all hell because the anime is about to catch up. Animating manga and LN-s is different.

I am sorry if I hurt someone's feelings, but damn, people don't need white knighting if they do something bad. If seasons 1 and 2 wwere acceptable (1 was OK totally, 2 had some minor tweaks, but wasn't whacked too much), and it was worth enough to do a third season, then WHY CHANGE THE METHODS?

While I agree with you about all this adaptation stuff, you are overreacting too much. Don't judge series from 1st episode - you can rage all you want after third one (i'm no joking). And sadly, on official page there is only 6 BD planed, so it will have 12 episodes. (http://www.haremking.tv/products/) In worse case scenario... we still have LN.

Ishibumi already mentioned that BorN will expand more on Rias and Ise's relationship than in the LN. Also try list out were there any major changes in the plot?

Did they cancel the trip to the Underworld? Did they make Loki appear now and become the enemy? Did they remove Sairaorg from the story? Did they randomly introduce new characters?

At most the thing they did was expand Tannin's appearance and change the order of appearance for him to appear first, we're still going to the Gathering of the Young Devil next episode, unless if they remove it entirely, there's practically just minor changes.

Let me give you a simple explanation about what the problem with this is.

Let's say we're ringing bells. We ring them each time after we say "whatever".

We say "whatever", then we ring the bell once. Then we say "whatever" again, then ring the bell twice. After that, we say "whatever" and ring the bell thrice. We say "whatever", and we ring the bell five times.

I'm not taking anybody for a fool here, that's simply how simple it is. There are major changes in the plot. Of course there are, since the plot not only has a story, it has an order as well, and has a rhythm too.

What if I say "whatever" ten seconds later? What if I ring the bell harder, to make a louder sound? What if I deliberately mess up the pacing of the ringing? These are each actions which will have people think "what the hell is this idiot doing?".

Elements of a story are like Jenga. It's built layer upon layer. There are times when you can pull out a block (though this isn't the best way to put it, since with Jenga, the point is to pull out the blocks), but with what it ends 100% of the time after the threshold is passed, is that the tower falls apart. And that's not a nice thing to consider.

I won't start bleeding from my ears that things are not 100% exactly the way they should be. I won't be breaking a sweat because f.e. Tannin had an illustration about him in the LN, and the one in the anime doesn't look like him. I won't be screaming bloody murder that the Hyoudo House has some details changed, and not everything is as it was described in the LN. It's not about that. But the one thing you don't need to change is the story. For heaven's sake, you have the storyboard written to you down to every damn little detail, in approximately 1800 pages alredy! No need to think up stuff, it's there to begin with.

Did they remove anything important that can't be put later on? No. So just stop whining about how this isn't your ideal adaptation.

And Diodora appeared in Volume 5 in the meeting of the Young Devils, he just didn't stand out much to Ise compared to Sairaorg and that Glaysia-Lebolas guy. It's not butchering the source material, the author himself said he was satisfied with the way they did it.

How about try reading the novels again. You're crying about the foreshadowing when it is also from the novels.

Many times in the novels that they had a scene where Issei and Rias are thinking about their specific problems. Don't act as if this came out of the blue.
I was taking about the dream which I liked but their all ready pushing how much time they have has it is I just think that making sure that they can fit in the 3 big volumes that there doing is a bit more important they've already shown that their willing to do ova for the series so I think that making a volume 8 extra life ova and adding it there would work better they need to do it anyways it's important I just think their birding off more than they can chew.

Man the OP has so many foreshadowing scenes it increases the hype.

As a guy who had read the novels, I say nothing much has changed, and the pacing is pretty decent. There are skipped parts, yes but I think they're actually trying to alter the chain of events here. Well, that's what I'm hoping for.

So far, it's good.

PS: Kuroka's so damn hot. And I can't wait to see Ravel again.

Think about it this way - the later CoD games were only portable to the old PS3, if FoV (Field of View) was reduced to 60, down from 130-140. Reason was simple: old hardware, couldn't handle the new software. It doesn't mean that we get a bad rap from the game, we just literally aren't able to see a good half and some more of it. Same principle. A one-cour season is 'old hardware' for a four-volume spanning story, and so descends the 'dumbing down'. THAT is what I don't like.

Except that when it came up later, it was supposed to have been there all along. So... what does it hurt by ACTUALLY bringing it up now? Nothing. It's been stated over and over that it won't be resolved, but this should at least shut up the people who think Issei's just a dense harem idiot instead of having a legit reason not to be tapping every girl around him.

Regarding Raynare, it is foreshadowing. The fact it was barely mentioned before Volume 10 is not a good thing. The first time I read it I was like, "WTF!? That bitch from the first Volume is the reason he didn't make a move until now?" DxD is written from ISE'S perspective, it's his head, we get to see every. single. thought. he. has. Such traumatic memories should have been brought up to his mind a lot more often, especially when the girls tried to get closer to him.

And they're going to do 3 Volumes, not 4, I have no idea where you got that from.

I don't have a clue about this CoD stuff either.

GDB, as I said, I didn't scream bloody murder because not everything went the way 'it was supposed to'. Content changing is a one-stop route to making a myriad of problems. For example, if you remember that one movie called Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

Go watch it again if it doesn't ring a bell. Go for every detail, the last speck of dialogue, and when the movie ends, start wrecking your brain on how the hell Remus knows how the Map works. It's just basically an earth-shaking development ... oh yeah, they forgot to mention that one.

If it's the rearrengement of the events, it was stated weeks, if not months ago by the studio and the author stated there'd be changes to fix the flow of the story, so yeah, no surprises there.

The one thing I hated about the winter season is the BLOODY CENSORSHIP (seriously, it's frickin' drawn boobs ... in the age where you're two key-clicks away from uncensored porn ...). Then again, since it seems D×D Novels and D×D Series are different from now on, you really can't say "he said it's good, and now it's bad", since the modus operandi of how D×D is animated took quite a turn this season. So I'd say that's a bit unfair towards Impy (won't say that for everything else though :heh: ).

About the rearrangements: I just thought that something will be left out. Which is logical, since some stuff was really out of place, for example the whole stuff with the Ragnarok after School, which was sort of 'wedged between' two different parts of the story. I thought that will be left out to skip to the next arc, which is time-wise the logical progression, and to be done later as an OVA or something. But the story of Volume 5 to Volume 6 is pretty linear without flow problems IMHO.

Personally I watched Absolute Duo, Death Parade, Durarara2, Dog Days 3, Isuca, Junketsu no Maria, Fafnir, Kamisama2, Saenai Heroine, Seiken Tsukai no World Break, Shinmaou, and Tokyo Ghoul root A. And as I said, the one thing I hated about the season is the bloody censorship (divine light of 18+, and Shinmaou's chibi decor, which was, in a sense, even worse IMHO).

The way you say it makes me think you watched completely different anime from the ones I saw TBH.

Looks to have some good potential in a lot of respects. One thing surprised me though. Koneko didn't care for him much at first, either, but she's warming up to him. The thing is, though, is that Issei has been growing more popular with the ladies of the school by now. He's the school idol's favorite, to their chagrin. The school idol also likes him. Both new transfer students like him, one of them openly telling Issei in class, in front of others, that she and Issei should have sex. He's also friends with the best-looking guy in school. Minor point but they also know he's reasonably talented with sculpting, or so they think.

Overall, the other girls are gonna start to wonder what it is about Issei that they're missing. And also, if you have Rias and Asia vouching for your better qualities, they might slowly change their opinion about you, right?

Also they're just talking about his penis. Girls do have the ability to appreciate that without having to appreciate the guy its attached to. Girls have hormones and lust too, y'know.

Tannin was never going to go for a fatal attack in the first place. He was most likely told how strong the group was and made sure to use appropirate attacks.

If Koneko's noggin is strong, I think we'll forget about it and move onto next week's episode. I mean, that head gash on her forehead looked gruesome that it worries me!

It's an anime. And a magical power battle anime at that. Attempting to figure out how much concussive force was applied to Knoneko's head or attempting to take physics at face value is simply not gonna work.

I didn't notice any drastic changes aside from the nipples. But Tannin's movements seemed really fluid for some reason, maybe they are using more budget on the fights instead of the ecchi.

Only scene that didn't look quite as good as we're used to, in my opinion, was the close up on Rias's face. Granted it made her look like she was legit related to Sirzechs, but it didn't look like how she usually does.

Yes if you haven't read the novels you should. They get better the more you read. The short story volumes are good too. They will have you laughing.

Seconded. They're pretty darn epic too.

I highly reccomend anyone who's enjoying this anime to try them out. I found the anime a little over a month ago, and once I tried them I read them all in a binge that would put Netflix to shame. 17.75 volumes later...

Truth be told, I was pleasantly surprised because my first experience with DxD was stumbling on the manga a few years ago... :uhoh:

Having read the LNs, I now can appreciate even more how tragic that abomination is.

Ah well, people's exposure now is mostly through the anime, thank goodness.

DxD is one of those shows that hits multiple points that you like as a story. I mean think about it this way. If you want fanservice you have it (and uncensored :heh:). If you want interesting battles you have that. If you want harem hijinks you have it. If you want a nice MC you have that. Storywise it holds its own.

The beauty of it is that every single one of those things i mentioned you have but in balance. The most important thing is that while it gives u these things it also doesnt drown you in any of them (this is the greatest thing that DxD does).

WOW the butthurt in here is real and only after 1 episode. The episode was enjoyable even with the hints they will make changes. I starting to feel some people should just give up watching animated series and stick to LN.

Fun episode and uncensored was quite a treat as well. OP was okay but that ending is just awful compared to last seasons. Also, seeing Rias being apprehensive about her standing was nice to see since she is always so confident. Im hoping for a great season.

This year I've been in a sort of a slump, and right now I'm marathoning through series from last season in order to catch up for good.

On-Topic
So, here's High School DxD third season bringing the Prez, Issei, and all the rest of the Akuma cast.

To make a long story short, Issei dreaming about Reynalle means nothing short of a bad omen that likely would cook up at a future episode.

If the previous seasons focused on Issei and Asia, then later Yuuto and a bit of Akeno, now the time is becoming ripe to tell Koneko's tale, since she's having her deal of inner troubles to think about.

Add that the whole club needs to beef seriously their skills after that pop-quiz test with former Dragon King, Tannin, and that means summer will be a long season for our cast.

I hope things will spice up now that the Khaos Brigade are involving themselves.
