This is the story of a young slave gladiator in an underground arena. He doesn't know about his past or how he get there, all he know is just about his name Eigil, and that he is stronger than average person of his age (not that he even know about his age though). One day, he managed to free himself by killing the boss of that place, and escaped outside. Half a year later, he join a band of mercenary (consisted of former bandits) as a new recruit. During one mission, they enter the Erg forest known as the forest where the demon lurks. There he met a woman living alone there, her name is Lucy. This Lucy turns out to be a Vampire and she slaughter the band with her inhuman strength. Left alone, Eigil fought back and incurred the wrath of Lucy by damaging her house but her wrath quickly subsided and soon she takes interest in Eigil. After learning that Eigil only knows how to kill, she decided to let him stay at her house, educating and take care of him. 2 years passed, Eigil is told by Lucy that he is permitted to leave her place. Eigil confess that he wants to be with her, but Lucy said that she cannot leave this place. On the day of Eigil departure, they both exchange a promise that if Eigil become a king and own the land of Erg forest, that's the time when he can come and take her as his woman. Making the promise as his life goal, Eigil set out on a journey, to become a hero, a king, and found his own kingdom.

If I remember right Rance only strike zone is that anything but Loli and guys.

Can't be helped, being in Nocturne, gives impression there's gonna be a lot of rape scenes, especially after reading first chapter. But actually, compared to other nocturne titles, this story is not dark and rape are few.

Well, let throw in some spoilers:
Carla - A hunter. Proficient with bow. A frank and friendly person, quite a pervert. She meet with Eigil during beasts extermination period and falls in love with him after seeing him in action. She join Eigil on his journey.
Miley - A hunter. Use sword, she is friend with Carla. A strong-willed woman. Like Carla, she also falls in love with Eigil. She only join Eigil for a short time, and part way when they arrived at her village, because her income is indispensable to the village.
Maria - Helper at an Inn. A gentle girl, her cooking is good. After spending one night with Eigil, she gives herself to him. She stay behind because she have to help her mother taking care of the Inn. Her chest is small.
Schwarz - A Black horse. A very excellent one, refused if man rides on him. Schwarz agreed to be Eigil steed on the benefit of having beautiful girls riding him. Eigil suspect Schwarz of being a lecherous man cursed into a horse.
Meru - Mother of Ruu and Kuu. She was a servant of a noble but is raped and discharged when she is pregnant with Kuu. After that she marries with a farmer and received Ruu. However her husband passed away in war, leaving her with house and small field. One day, she is injured from a wildfire, burning her half-right body. Eigil cured her wound, payed their debt, plowed their field, give them living expenses and as a result, she falls in love with him. When Eigil left, Meru is pregnant.
Kuu - Ruu's older sister. Unlike her younger sister, she is more dependable . She support the love of her mother and Eigil, but Her first kiss is taken by Eigil.
Ruu - A little apple-girl. She sells apple at town to help her poor family in the village. Weak-willed, prone to make blunders. She is escorted by Eigil back to her home.
Nonna - Slave girl. She saved by Eigil. Actually a noble daughter of Electra house. She falls in love with Eigil and they shared an oath. After that, she entrust Eigil with the heirloom of Electra, a sword Dual Crater(?). Has a very very big rack.
Melissa - A prostitute at the white capital. In the past, she experience a hard play and she lost her future as a mother. Without hesitation, Eigil buy her and Melissa join him on his adventure.
Algol - Formerly a foot commander from the Federation. He meet with Eigil during the tournament and become friend with him.
Christof - Meet with Eigil during tournament. Despite his boasting, he is very very weak.
Mac - Former slave. A big guy with sturdy muscle. A taciturn man whose strength is comparable to Eigil.
Claudia Alvens Mallowdol - A marchioness from the Federation. She is in bad term with her husband so she moved to the white capital. From her daughter she know about Eigil. At first she only wants to play one night with him but instead she become his victim.
Clea - Former noble daughter. To restore her household she becomes a bandit but is defeated by Eigil. She is set free under condition of never again do any bandit activity and spending one night with him. During their parting, Eigil give her some money as a parting gift.

I've been wondering what direction the story will go with the MCs goal to become King and the imposing threat.


The MCs territory is mostly in the SE and indepdent of the kingdom already, with the changes in the King lately he could completely branch off during the upcoming conflicts and name himself the King of the south. (Possibly splitting the territory off at that one huge fort Toreia used that the MC ignored and setup defense against the Empire along that line)

About the only way they can win for now is to use wave attacks with night/surprise attacks. If the MC makes some nice cannons and starts doing attacks like that using the Northern part of the kingdom as bait while moving south he could chip away at the empires forces.

The hard part is going to be that navy, though if the dwarves manage to create a way to move that giant cannon easier it would work.


Agreed that Federation is doomed, it's just a matter of how many of the enemies they can chip away of the 2,000,000 left for the MC. (2,000,000 vs 600,000 in a fort city)

The unrest in the capital is inevitable, but I don't think branching off would be a good idea. While Aegir territory is strong, he is still in a position where he have to lock other possible threat, unless he can make coalition with others... enlisting the help of spart- I mean, Gildres will do good, the rest is just as you said.

as for the navy, best avoid it... land is more advantageous, more so if it is forest.

So I've been reading this every now & then as well. Where the plot is going is interesting enough as well as the occasional humor & fierce battles but...

I do wish his sexcapades is toned down a bit. I'm not that far into it yet but from what I've seen I think it takes up to to 40-45% of the tale way to often. Or maybe its just that I'm just reading it for the wrong reasons?

Sometimes I skip parts of it or keep making sarcastic/monotone remarks throughout like "How is that even possible?", "What, is he blessed by the Gods of Sex & Lust or something?", "5-10 minutes? Is his hyper weapon a hose?", "Ding, another point to random town wench", "His seed must be some kind of magic drug or something seeing how it regenerates faster than Wolverine", "He just carried & pushed down a ghost, seriously? Annnnd now he's making sweet love to it...her...", "Orgy is the solution he comes up with...I'm shocked", etc, etc.

I thought he was gonna' be like some Conan the Barbarian guy at first but he ain't that smart & mainly runs on sex & violence...often times one after the other in no particular order. At times whenever, wherever.

He also doesn't seem to care much for his kids in comparison to his zeal in making them. I was actually quite surprised when a chapter begins with him acting like a father interacting with them while surrounded by the moms. Then it went on as usual forgetting them again for what I guess is another long time.


I'm currently....I think in the parts where his king is ordering him to go conquer other countries stuff now after just finishing the last one.
