It is a tale of Middle Ages.
Maria is the lady of Contrali, which is the second greatest family among the Ten Commissioners governing Republic of Dravia, the Merchants' City. Although she is just 13 years old, she exceeds her three brothers in commerce. But it never satisfies her since she knows that she will never be allowed to obtain any actual power because of her sex; the two options left to her are either to marry another noble or to become a nun.
Maria decides to carry out a huge plan, being assisted by her maid Arsha, whom Maria trusts most. Their goal is to achieve the control of Republic, as well as of the World finally. Maria doesn't hesitate to sacrifice her family in order for it.
Hi!

Money doesn't matter now. You announced that you would be pleased if SOMEONE draws it when I refused to. Don't you think it was rude to us? I'm not in the position to correct you, but neither want I to help you. You don't mind WHO draws it; you just desire to see the illustration. Ask it in another forum, please.

Yes. But the original contains the "making" episodes instead. I believe it is better to enjoy each good point of each work.

I have what will sound like an odd request. I'm hoping one of you out there who speaks - or, more especially - reads Japanese, can do me a big favor. If you've read the full Moribito Series by Uehashi Nahoko - or know the details of how the 10th (and final) book concludes - I would be hugely grateful if you'd PM me so I can ask you a a couple of questions. There are some things I'm desperate for clarification on that I don't want to wait 8-10 years (optimistically) for the translation to provide. Not a big deal, but right now it feels kinda like a big deal to me, so trust that I would really, really appreciate it.

I attended a ceremony of all-night wakes for Mai-san with my father.
There wasn't Tsutchi no Miya(?)-dono for ceremony of a seal of Hakuei(?).
The living family of her was only her daughter Kagura.

Write in about 2-3 sentences before and after that word, so we gain some context before we can answer you with that.
It's slang of an actual verb and with no kanji given either, it's near imposs to give you an accurate answer.
Need more info please :)

In a nutshell, "What happens to Balsa and Chagum at the end of the series". More specifically, do Tanda and Balsa end up together (which I've pretty well puzzled out), and what becomes of Chagum? Is he happy wherever the story leaves him, unlike the anime ending? Where do things stand between he and Balsa, etc.
I actually did a google search on the kana
天と地の守り人 第3部 の終り
And found what look to be some rather promising leads - blogs and such - but all of the online translators are shockingly bad.... Thus, my plea on this board.

i 've tried to tlanslate the page, but the sentences are quite long..
So,, it's ok to translate each one message of the three parts of the story? ..
What they say are alike for one part..
If so, i may post here in several hours :)
Edit : Here is that ;p
<Moribito of the Heaven and the Earth Volume 1 Part of Rota>
There were countries in which shady smells and political conspiracy around.
In that violent era, Shuga and Tanda were fighting in their position.
There were national people who were involved in the battle forcefully and had to obey the decision the evil politicians had made.
'Moribito of the Heaven and the Earth ' is supposed to be 3 volumes .
I was often feeling bad when i read this book as the introduction.
Chagumu was going to go to the little hope. And Balsa was after him to protect him.
Chagumu , who was thinking about the national people than himself was like walking on a line though he didn't know which side was his enermy.
Balsa was thinking about Chagumu more than the country with anticipating if he would drop from the line. That was very sad like a mother's love.
I also felt sad as if i was Balsa.
Adults often think people can't govern a country with only purity. But Chagumu is no more only pure by experiencing the warmth of people through Balsa and Tanda and by aimed at by his true parents.
He had a lot of experience as a traveler.
He has a strength as a 'Moribito of Spirit' to protect the egg .
I really want to see the country he is going to make.
Also,i hope Balsa and Tanda will be happy too.
Now, i am regretting that i've compreted reading 'The part of Rota' earlier. Because i can't help but care about the continuation of the story. What will Balsa and Chagmu and Tanda be? How will their country be?
I am really looking forward to read the next volume.
※ To add it, i suppose there would be a lot of readers who care about Asura and Shiruna because there's no depiction of how they have become in 'Moribito of God'.
But such people would be satisfied to know their information in this book.
-Yura (President of the fan page of Naoko Uehashi)
<Moribito of the Heaven and the Earth Volume 2 Part of Kanbal Kingdom>
I was going to taste it slowly. i was always doing so to face the series, but i alway couldn't accomplish that.
No sooner had i finished reading the book ,i jumped to 'Part of Kanbal Kingdom'
and shouted, 'Give me the rest series !!'
Balsa and chagumu were happy to see each other, and went off to Balsa's hometown Kanbal. But of course that was not a lovely trip in that they could travel with their horses smilingly. Again, Balsa's tears were increasing. Chagumu was going ahead for the national people while he was attracted to Nayugu, and sometimes tortured by feeling of powerless and humiliation.
And he tried to do what he should do inspite of his very dangerous position.
I couldn't think they could solve the problems because the characters were crossed very complicatedly and the misfortune of Sag and Nayugu were very huge.
Whether this situation will be better or not? It seems i can hear readers' voice like me ''Will we wait here?''
Like 'Part of Rota', i like the depiction by that i can know why Balsa had the reputation as a body guard.
I think i will wait for the next volume with absorbed in such Moribito's world, and tracing many thoughts.
-Yumiko Shrai ( The president of the cave of Moribito)
<Moribito of the Heaven and the Earth Volume 3 Part of New Yogo imperial country>
"Ah He returned" I thought so at the same time as having finished reading. How long the trip was.
It is 2years after Chagumu went out of new Yogo . To Rota, Kambal and Tarushu , he had traveled around well as even a spy can't do. And finally he came back to New Yogo.
However, it was not beautiful new Yogo where the plant buds to wait for him. It became a country where a dark shadow overflows and corruption was very closed to. Chagumu should make one's way during two misfornunes Sag and Nayugu whirl.
On the other hand, what does Balsa who has separated from Chagumu do ?
Is Tanda safe? How are Torogai, Shuga, Hyugo..? There will be those questions' answer waiting for us.
I think this is a "Coming Back story".To back to a dear hometown, to starting point of yourself and to the place where a dear person waits at. I was moved by watching them who are seeking the places and what they should do, what they can do without giving up .
I want you to enjoy many people's feeling, and the complex story like 'entwisted yarn of Sheep ' as Kanbaru's shephed boy says becomes a knit and then how large the story will become.
'Moribito' ends this time for a while.
However, they are still moving around vividly in my mind. They will make a new history from tomorrow.
I was happy that i could see the end of the trip. i am dreaming that i will be able to see them i really love again somewhere and i pray, 'Be happy after you reach there'
-Akane
Sorry i had misunderstood what you want to know;
What you want to know isn't depicted obviously there:)
They are writing about the story very ambiguously and it seems they just lead you to read the books ;

Thanks, Rio. That's the problem, of course - a lot of these pages deliberately leave off the good spoilers. But as easy as it is to see that from your good translation above, it's hard to tell from bad machine translators! I know some of the other links on that google search string have better information, and I've puzzled out some of the ending from that - mostly that Balsa and Tanda end up "together" but not quite together, somehow... And most of that info comes from Wao who has been incredibly generous and is scoping things out for me and found some good information. But still waiting for the holy grail - real detail on where things stand with Balsa and Chagum and what his situation is at the close of the last book.
Haha, I'm sorry Guardian Enzo. I offered to help you out and then I disappeared. I got a little busy and then forgot about this. Sorry about that. But it looks like Rio was able to help you out, so all’s good?

Indeed - Rio, Wao, Karou, Kujoe have all been kind and helped a lot... There's still more I'd like to find out - what''s the deal with Chagum's little brother and sister, what are the chances of another sequel... But I certainly know a lot more than I did, thanks to some kind help.

What word processor do you use? There are already some that use WWWJDIC, like JWPce, but the difference between that and the web search is, it isn't updated regularly. You can download the plain up-to-date dictionaries from the above site though, and replace the dictionary files in the WP (provided it uses edict).
If you use another app that uses a different format dictionary - provided you know the dictionary format, it wouldn't be difficult to convert between formats.

Dare i hazard a guess and say that you use this for your manga work <3
Very useful tool, thank you, it'll help on re-affirming my vocabulary if i keep hovering over the same kanji over and over until it sticks.
Saves me from having to toss in mass chunks of text into my reading tutor program, now i can be lazier and can hover over.
(But does this work for flash embedded text on websites?)
(And does it allow you to customise how much you want highlighted as well?)
Only one way to find out, I suppose *puts on the IT tecchy hat*
PS: It's for firefox users only, so no Opera or IE people try to install it xD
EDIT:
Polarcloud's software will trigger FF's security pop-up and ask you if you wanna install an unsigned feature.
I can only assume that it's created in good faith and won't install any hidden nasties like adware on my lappy.
- And dammit, it doesn't pick up flash embedded stuff. :T_T:
(curse you JP lyrics websites!!! *shakes her fist*)
As for customising:
How do I change keys, colors, configuration?
Go to Tools, Addons, Rikaichan, click Options.
Fairly detailed functions though, I think I've found my new love once I get through the entire options menu and configured it to my liking :D
Dare i hazard a guess and say that you use this for your manga work <3

Need some heads up regarding this Ga-rei Zero Log 0001 entry. Assistance is appreciated:
Tsuchimiya-dono succeeded to Byakuei since Mai-san who had sealed Byakuei died.
The worst soul beast Byakuei eats all things of the world with ill air once he is released. That's why he is called 'eating beast'. For not to release that eating beast, someone should succeed to Byakuei and seal it absolutely. From now, Tsuchimiya-dono succeeds to Byakuei in his body. Once he succeeds to Byakuei and assimilate it with his soul, he wouldn't release it until he dies. The time Byakuei is released is when the successor dies, like Mai-san.
I respect Tsuchimiya-dono who didn't hesitate to succeed to Byakuei even though he had to hurry and didn't have better solutions at that time.
The Tsuchimiya family , which has succeeded to seal Byakuei from ancestors does do a very hard job.
That's not easy as to control a usual monster (maybe a certain one in the story)by using Lion king. I understand why they respect the family.
Could I get a translation of this image please? ^^

The "happiness" quote.
If happiness had a form, what would it look like?
Yeah, like Suzaku phrased it...
It might be something like glass, because one doesn't notice it normally. However it is actually there.
Line by line.
This is my favorite quote in the anime!!! and i was hoping someone proficient in japanese could write in character + pronounciation what Lelouch says.
ルルーシュ:
*昔、ナナリーやスザクと話したことがあったっけ。* 幸せに形があるとしたら、それはどんなものだろう*/って/*。
そうだ。それはスザクが言っていたように、ガラスのようなものかもしれない。だって、普段気づかないから。 でも、確かにそれはあるんだ。
Lelouch:
*Mukashi, Nunnally ya Suzaku to hanashita kotoga attakke.*
Shiawase ni katachiga arutoshitara, sorewa donna monodarou*ttte*.
Souda. sorewa Suzaku ga itteitayouni, garasu no youna monokamo shirenai.
datte, fudan kizukanai kara. demo, tashikani sorewa arunda.
※ The sentences are addition to the line.
The line:* i once had this conversation with Nunnally and Suzaku.** That--*

Hi All!
I know it'd be a bit much to translate this whole passage for free, but I'd be more than satisfied if someone could just give me the gist of what's being debated here.

The day that i will see the result of whether i could pass for the comic market is being closed thesedays.
This is the 2nd time i have applied , but i am uneasy.
i don't know when i should reserve the place of printing though that is a story if i could pass .
But, what i care about the most is the schedule of the training that university makes.
What i belong to doesn't affect the dead line if it works as usual , so it's ok.
But, if i was very unlucky, they would let me go to the US on the first day of the comic market. So i am worried about that.

We have to pickle Umeboshi in liquor, don't we?
Though i 've heard that Umeboshi was harmed so they wouldn't supply Umeboshi much this year, i 've seen Umeboshi was sold by usual price in the neighbor super maket and i was relieved.
Last year, i tried to pickle Umeboshi in vodka, that was so-so.
But that costs more than usual liquor.
If i had 1 sho (1.8 liters)smirnoff , it would be helpful, but that can't be possible.

The small ぁ is just hiragana's way of indicating a stress.
Most common you get is:
えええぇぇぇぇぇぇぇ!?
In english, it's maybe:
You're really an idioooooooooot!
You're such an idiot!!!!!!
Kinda thing, you'd read that screaming on the last sound.
As for adding the 'san' suffix on there, dunno why, it could be translated as Mr Idiot :p
Thanks, Mystique.

I'm wondering if it might be a "polite" way of calling someone an idiot. As in being upset with someone you were familiar with and would normally respect, but giving them a piece of your mind anyhow.
[edit]- Ah, just found a reference to it. The first ED of School Rumble.
Nee hontou ni hontou ni O-baka-san

Green town, Kazematsuri (winds-festival). Tennouji Kotaro has spend usual days with Koube Kotori, Yoshino Haruhiko in the town, where has ideal that coexistance of civilization and nature.
For that peaceful town, a very busy days once a year will come. Kotarou decided to do part time job which is to collect the articles for the city's harvest festival--, which is like a big school festival, because there were witnesses of unconfirmed creatures and occult-like rumors in wind -festival.
At that time, Kotaro experienced very strange incidents. Kotaro asked help to Senri Akane, who is the president of the club of investigation of occult, and started investigation with other aquainted students.
It was supporsed to be just a curioustiy for advanture for Kotaro.
He was happy only to spend good time with his friends.
Kotaro has yet to know, that is linked to the truth that no one knows.

Does anyone know what this is translated into english:
Michi tarita jikan wa Kumo no youni nagarete
Tesakuri de susunde iku futaria wa Doko no iku no deshou
Kawatteiku kisetsuwa Kizuato wa kesu kedo
Fukamari au ai wa kinou yori Kagayaki mashite iku
Its a verse form the full song of the witchblade ending 1
Don't trust myself to give a good translation but there appear to be several mistakes in the Romaji so I went and looked up the Kanji:
満ち足りた時間は 雲のように流れて
手探りで進んでいく二人は どこに行くのでしょう
変わっていく季節は 傷跡を消すけど
深まりあう愛は昨日より 輝き増して行く
Hopefully that's helpful.

交際 【こうさい】 (n,vs) company, friendship, association, society, acquaintance, (P)
順調 【じゅんちょう】 (adj-na,n) favourable, favorable, doing well, O.K., all right, (P)
I'd need context with that sentence, unless it's something set within a dating circle or something...?
From the results in google, it seems to be a term used fairly often, so leaving that to the rest of the Japanophiles :)

@Mystique: It's here, at the very end: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iSZwUNPfzVc ^^
K, asked a mate and checked out the video and I understand the context now :)
交際順調 is a 'formal' way of asking 'is the relationship going well'?
This term wouldn't be used in everyday speech between friends when talking about relationships, rather they'd say:
umaku ittemasu (it's going well, we got a good thing going on)
The kousai junchou term is used mainly in entertainment news as you saw in the video, which mainly posed to actors, singers, talent peeps who have began dating or are dating and journalists wanna be nosy and stuff.
In this case, the celebs didn't really answer that and just walked out, but the interview (as far as I can tell) was about how Matsuyama approached the woman and asked her out.
It was something new for me to learn today as well, so an interesting question you posed, thanks :)

Kanji of names has several ways to read , so it's difficult to see how to read them definitely, but with some conviction, i think the names read like that by looking them up in the web sites and experiences.
But 2) is quite difficult to see which is right. But most of the time, it reads 'Terubou'

I think mine is a bit different from Bou's :)
Mine is; Mistakes because of the youthfulness.
It has the meaning that 'because of '
ここぞとばかり に
Can anyone explain the usage of this for me and it's intended meaning?
Which means, that 'try to do things thinking that is the only time to do so'
For example :he tried to eat the Sushi that his uncle treated him to as much as possible ここぞとばかりに because he can't eat expensive cuisine usually .
Does anyone know what Hason hoho (or maybe hason ho ho) = ? Damage cheek? Or something else?
Sometimes these words confuse me....

According to oriental thoughts, evil shall naturally perish as time passes (自業自得 and 天網恢恢). But if a "good" person acts to punish the evil and realize the natural rule, it is called 天誅.

Anybody have a clue what "しゃぶ中" would be? It's a nickname (I'm guess derogatory) they give to this boy, and the author's note says, " ウソか誠か自分の息子をしゃぶれるが自慢--->しゃぶ中"

しゃぶ中 usually means "a junkie", which comes from しゃぶ (a slung for heroine) and 中毒 (addicted). However, in this particular case, the name has an obscene implication:
He is very proud of the incredible skill to lick (しゃぶる) his own dick (息子=an euphemism of penis), though nobody has confirmed it. That is why he is called 「しゃぶ中」, "addicted to lipping".
so thats the only way the quote could be translated into kanji?
I mean, it is one of the smartest options I think within the limitation of kanji. If you tolerate kana and some verboseness, I can just translate it into「善人無為に過ごさば悪栄うべし」etc.

You, mom and daddy, are you a sweet couple?
Huh?
Uncle George told me that although you make often quarrels but in fact you love much each other.
Umm... Say, it is a kind of adults' secret.
A child like you doesn't need to know it.
(Irritated) I require you to repeat after me! The Husband Butler and The Wife Beatrice are sweet couple!
Wow! It is the blue text! (* to which Beatrice is responsible to answer seriously in the game)

HI, Liwyn.
Correct romaji sub is...
Hito wa byoudou dewa nai. Umaretsuki Ashi no hayai mono, utsukushii mono, oya ga mazushii mono, byoujaku na karada wo motsu mono, umare mo sodachi mo sainou mo ningen wa mina chigatte oru no da.
your english sub has some mistakes. ex: 'mazushii' does not mean 'greater status'. it means 'poor'.
then better English subs:
All men are not created equal. Some are born smarter, or more beautiful. Some, by contrast, are with poor parents ,or born weak of body. All men have different nature AND nerture.
translations of umare, sodachi, and sainou are difficult.
usually umare is nature, sodachi is nerture, and sainou is talent/genius. but the word 'nature' has meaning of talent, then I think above translation is good.
Meaning of these words fitted to context, I think, is...
umare: What social status did their parent have.
sodachi: How environmet did they grow up at.
sainou: How much talent were they gifted.
I hope my answer helps your anime life.

[the illustration]
HEY BUTLER! Come out! Watch your behavior: it is the very reason why he drew such a picture!
Again, thank you for helping me with the translation of the Emperor's speech, Doughnuts and Ryohei. You have both been given +rep :-)
I have a question, but this is more of a yes or no one. I've been listening to a song from the Code Geass R2 Soundtrack called 'Innocent Days' by Hitomi. The problem is that the lyrics don't seem to fit the song. All of the translations on the web seem inncorrect, it doesn't sound as if she sings anything like it. Would someone please have a look and listen, or tell me if I'm just hallucinating?
YouTube link:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZvgevR9tiU
Lyrics link (all of the translations from a lot of different pages seem to be the same): http://www.lyricstime.com/hitomi-innocent-days-lyrics.html
Thank you for your help.
Huh?
Maybe we both are just deaf....but I haven't been able to make out a single Japanese word in that song.

I think that's just a ton of gibberish: http://atashi.wordpress.com/2007/03/23/code-geass-lelouch-of-the-rebellion-insert-song-innocent-days/
Just a made up language it seems, with 'translations' for it.

Greetings All!

(Jokingly) She is a young elite guy in the special scientific police team. She makes patrol on a Jet Beetle, and collides into a red light sphere to death. However, the outer-space intelligence in the sphere saves her life and provides her with the power to transform into a justice hero Yamatlaman - no, I'm just kidding.
She is a new character who made debut in the game title "Lucky Star: Outou Festival". In fact, she appears firstly in the special bonus track of the trial version "Lucky Star: Moe Drill". You can even find her figure in the original comic as well.
She was in the class 3 of second grade, St. Fiorina girls' school. She transfers into the class B of third gradem Ryouou school, without showing any detail on the reason. She has been a friend of Kou Yasaka since in junior highschool.
If you call Kagami Hiiragi an active tsundere, then Yamato can be seen as a passive tsundere; or I think she may be a lazy tsundere. She is shy and dependent in fact, but she can not depend on others smartly. She always behave as if she is arrogant so that many people think she is a tsundere.
In Taiwanese/Chinese, her name is written as 永森大和. (note: Kana names are forcibly written in kanji when translated into Chinese.)
Could someone please translate this artist's name for me.
Name: 袜筒二月

It would be nice to have the whole thing translated, but what I really need is the part where it mentions something about a TAB. If it helps at all, here's the link to the youtube video that it's from:

Thanks.
I believe it's along the lines of, "I checked the comments and a lot of people say they want tabs, but I don't really have much experience making them" and I'm not sure about the rest.

They told about a tab formed score (http://www.guitar-guitar-guitar.com/lesson/cont05.html). Many audience wanted the guitar player to publish the score of his performance, and he told that he needed time to consider since he had no experience in doing so. He just extracted the melody from Nagi's song (=aka Gazelle (http://dic.nicovideo.jp/a/%E3%82%AC%E3%82%BC%E3%83%AB%28%E6%AD%8C%E3%81%84%E 6%89%8B%29), a famous female artist in the Japanese Intenet music scene and the singer of Bakemonogatari ED) by ears.

I have a question about 3 yahoo auctions I saw when looking through some keywords
All are yaoi doujinshi's though I must add there isn't anything graphic on the pages, the couples for these 3 books are all Dante/Nero Devil may Cry 4, however I was wondering if anyone could make out some things for me:
*name of the circle who drew the book, if there's a link can you put it up?
*if the books have novel sections? I know the Faint and Fly or Die don't but I've never seen the Duel book before
*Could anyone provide me info about the book, like rating (should I be expecting just talks and no fun? Is the book a generic one character book and not at all yaoi-ish?) and summary of the book and any specific details the seller is adding about it?
I tried Babelfish.. but really it sucks you can make out standard things but details are hard to come by
here are the products:

As seen in Miki's case, I tend to cherish subcharacters rather than the main figures. I prefer Kanae to Rihoko in Amagami.
This week, I began video broadcasting (http://www.stickam.jp/). It's only for silly and trivial chatting and showing my illustration. I notice the casting schedule on pixiv and twitter.

'kono aida' gives me the sense of 'most recent' (the test that was just done, be it 1hr ago or yesterday)
So I wouldn't translate it with a specific time frame, more like:
'The recent/latest test was normal'
(btw Theowne, that sentence feels incomplete too... I've a strange urge to stick a に after it) :p
Hello again ~
I've fallen in love with the ideas of Furude Rika-chan, and would highly appreciate it if someone could translate what she says in English to romaji Japanese. I tried doing it myself, but because of bad tools to work with the text, I find myself doubting the results I get. So please, if you have a couple of minutes, could you translate what she says from 1:50 to 2:48? The english text (from subtitles) is:
"This repeating time. This repeating world. These people, constantly contesting fate, struggling time and time again through all the despair and tragedy thrown at them... I have not forgotten. Is that the same with you? Well, then... In this newly born world, is the pursuit of my happiness, and the probability of a blissful world being born, is that comfort enough for the blood and tears of the sinless? I do not know. Even so, I want to protect the ones that are important to me. To tell you the truth, I am a bit tired..."

I'm thinking about buying another Sony MDR 7506 headphone or upgrade to CD 900ST...
http://www.geocities.jp/ryumatsuba/mdr-cd900st.html

Just to tidy it up for you, though someone may double check my correction on the first line since it's niggling at me with a sense of uncertainty...
She used to think of him in almost the same way. (or 'amount', i wonder)
More than anything or anyone, he was very dear to her.
or
(He was a treasured person to her more than anything or anyone.)
Which is why, she decided to part from him.
Thank for the correction, I just have to addapt it more to the context...

Good morning. Today, in the city... the morning was very cold, while the afternoon was quite warm. It seems like it'll get colder again later though.

Yup! He's such a splendid prince.
I never expected that the prince would get beautified so much if he was made into an anime character. He makes me feel all mushy inside.
I would definitely love it if this prince could appear in a manga somewhere. But no boy's love!

Many of us can read it, do you want it romanised or translated though? :p
gaikokujinsan ga "yamato da! tanjoubi omedetou!" to itteru gazou ga ritobasu no suzu dattarishite naita.
As for a translation I'll have to pass the baton, cause that katakana just throws me off, plus the last verb 'naku' doesn't quite fit with 'ringing' a 'bell'.

I don't know where you guys got gaikokujin san, but it's gaijin san.
And the last verb is hiita, not naiita.
Correct Romanization is therefore:
gaijin san ga "yamato da! tanjoubi omedetou" to itteru gazou ga ritobasu no Rin dattarishite hiita.
Translation:
The foreigner swapped his picture to Little Buster's Rin while saying, "I am Yamato! Happy birthday."

lol *bows, emits the 'koku' and goes to write on the board 100 times:
"Must never attempt written Japanese when zombifed."
Sleep deprevation for 4 days is where I got the inability to read Japanese and see things that aren't there, but thanks for the correction. Even using Rikaichan, I still saw 'naku' instead of the 'fu' it so blantantly was.
鳴く 【なく】 (v5k) (1) to sing (bird), (2) to bark, to purr, to make sound (animal), (P)
(I know, only the 'mouth' radical is the same) x.x;;;
The foreigner swapped his picture to Little Buster's Rin while saying, "I am Yamato! Happy birthday."
But I do have a question, where did 'to swap' come from?
And the last verb is hiita, not naiita.
吹く 【ふく】 (v5k) (1) to blow (wind, etc), (2) to emit, to spout, (P)
Leopard got it right with 'fuita', and all related verbs with this kanji are with the action 'to blow'.
吹き荒ぶ 【ふきすさぶ】 (v5b) to blow fiercely, to rage
吹き荒む 【ふきすさむ】 (v5m) to blow violently
吹き荒れる 【ふきあれる】 (v1) to blow violently, to sweep over, to devastate
吹き降り 【ふきぶり】 (n) driving rain
吹き散らす 【ふきちらす】 (v5s) to scatter, to blow about
So the last part:
だったりして吹いた
- Is still somewhat vague, care to shine a lil more light, Sylphic?
PS: Thanks Leopard for the contextual reference (anime/manga?), there, it's always fun to try to translate without any cultural reference to some things. :)

You're welcome! Sorry for being unable to translate the phrase but my English is really poor...
About Little Busters: http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E3%83%AA%E3%83%88%E3%83%AB%E3%83%90%E3%82%B9%E3%8 2%BF%E3%83%BC%E3%82%BA!
Edit: About the 「吹いた」 my understanding is: 外人さんが「やまとだ!誕生日おめでとう!」と言ってる画像がリトバスの鈴だったりして(ケーキのろうそく を)吹いた 。
But I do have a question, where did 'to swap' come from?
I took a little bit of liberty when adding to swap.
Literally it means, he made, i guess "changed?" his picture into Rin from little busters.
That's what the shite part implies. The tari from dattari implies that he was doing this while he was saying that quote.

I was wondering if someone could give me the Kanji for the virtue "Courage". I'm doing a presentation and I cannot figure out which form is correct and too be honest, I feel a bit over my head. I have no experience with reading/writing/understanding kanji at all >_>;
I have to put this vertically on a poster so if you could make it larger font so it's easier to read, that would be amazing. And possibly explain how to write it vertically (if necessary) :x
Also, would courage be 1, 2, 77 characters? Like I said I'm not familiar with kanji but I figured it would be 1-2 at most? I'm pretty pathetic about this, I know ;_;
ANY help would be MOST appreciated! Thanks!!

As someone said in the other thread, 勇気 yuuki is probably the most common word for courage, and is two characters. You can also go for just the the specific kanji that means courage, 勇 yuu.
So vertically
勇
気
or just
勇
I wrote out the stroke order for the two kanji in paint really quick to show how they go.

No guarantees on the accuracy or quality of these translations, but I'll try.
Red dude: "Yo, Hayate! I brought something good fer ya!"
Blue dude: "Something good? If it makes me the Collector groan, I'll take it." (?? not sure about this line)
Red dude: "Right, leave it ta me! (can't figure out this word), make sure t'make him groan!"
Red dude: "C'mon, say hi!"
Pink girl: "Hello" ("v"?)
Red dude: "Her name's Nyomoe."
Red dude: "Ain't she cyuute?"
Blue dude: "P--please do not come any closer!"
Red dude: "Haaah? The heck are you saying?"
Blue dude: "From now on, past this line..."
Blue dude: "DEFINITELY do not come, please."
Red dude: "Oi oi, exactly what's up with you, Hayate? This ain't like ya. If you were your usual self..."
Red dude: "'Yaaa, adorable isn't she...' is what you'd say, innit?"
SFX: *surprised*I'm willing to bet you can understand the fifth one without translations. All the text is just sound effects, of the blue dude backing away, the girl following him, and the girl puffing up her cheeks in indignation.
Pink girl: "Pugya!"
Red dude: "Nomoe!"
Blue dude: "Ah!"
This isn't Japanese but I need some help really fast. Can someone who knows Chinese help me?
I was talking to a Chinese guy on Deviantart, and in his last response he is asked me something but I'm not too sure what it is exactly. I've tried a few online translators but they haven't helped (i think its a contextual issue).
Here's what he said:
"请问可以麻烦一下把DA的操作方法(例如上传作品之类的)告诉我好吗,最好是载图方式。"
The bolded parts are what confuse me. So he wants to propagate his artwork but would prefer it to be in a downloadable format? I'm not getting it.
What does this guy mean?

Isn't he asking about how to use the website? Something like: "could I ask somebody to go through the trouble of telling me the operation method of DA (uploading works, for example), preferably how to..." er, I remember my grandpa using this term when asking me for computer help but I forget if it means upload, download, copy, cut, paste, not sure. I always inferred what it meant from context. XD Upload pictures, I'd assume.
(I had to look up an embarrassing amount of those words... I need to get my parents to re-teach me Chinese over the summer)

Ok thanks. Now that I re-read it, it makes sense that he would be asking how to upload stuff, though I'm still not sure about the "format" (方式) thing.
Chinese is hard because even once you think you know it pretty well, there are too many ways (many of which border on colloquialisms) to say/write something and it's difficult to know exactly what is meant 100% of the time. This is especially a problem if you don't live in a place where most of the people speak Chinese.
again, thank you for your help.

吹く 【ふく】 (v5k) (1) to blow (wind, etc), (2) to emit, to spout, (P)
Leopard got it right with 'fuita', and all related verbs with this kanji are with the action 'to blow'.
吹いた is an online vocabulary meaning burst out laughing (try to look for some "吹いたら負け" videos and experience it yourself :p). Traditional dictionaries usually cease to function properly when you try to deal with Japanese BBS language. :)
For translation, a simple "LOL" would suffice.
リクの頻度を見る限り、外人さんたちって結構やまと好きなのかな。
それとも同一人物がひたすらやまとリクをしてきているだけなのかな。
"From the frequency of the requests, it seems like the foreigners really like Yamato. Or perhaps there is one particular individual continuously making such requests?"
"请问可以麻烦一下把DA的操作方法(例如上传作品之类的)告诉我好吗,最好是载图方式。"
"Can you please go through the steps of using Deviant Art (such as the way to upload artwork), preferably with screencaps?"
例如 = for example
上傳作品 = uploading artwork, uploaded work
方式 = format/method

*finds her ears bleeding from Hiyori's terrible accent* T_T
Yoriuchi typically has me concentrating like a bitch to try to even catch her words, but Hiyori and Shinji may as well be speaking Russian, it's so damn heavy. x.x
It's not a dictionary thing, purely cause this by no means is 'standard Japanese' x.x;;;;;
If you have a kansai/ western Japanese dictionary, then you'll have more luck ;)
For example:
ちょい [choi], ちょう [chou] ちょっと [chotto] a bit, a little
But yeah 'uchi' is used as another word for 'watashi', not quite limited to just slang though as peeps in Tokyo/Yokohama areas also use the same word. :)
Edit:
Ansalem already gave transcription :)

1. I think I should now make peace with him. He once helped me. A nice greeting would build a good friendship. OK, I know.
2. Welcome! (in Japanese "Yokoso", sounds nearly Yoko, the character's name)
3. A...Annyeonghaseyo (Korean greeting word, contains the character's name "haseo")
4. This guy is really nice!
The girl says a silly gag phrase, and the boy answers by another nonsense of the same kind. So the girl feels sympathy with him.

Hi, can someone translate this for me? :)
I would have never have imagined seeing Natsume Yuujinchou's Summer Evening Sky piano score on a foreign site.
It's probably not surprising that I saw the youtube video and followed the link, but it is very moving.
The piano arrangement is very good.
I am going to download the score and mp3.

Could someone please Translate these
Japanese Song Lyrics to English?
Song: Too Fast To Live Too Young Too Die by Star Generation
何ができるかって何もできねえ
そんな俺達がやれる事ァひとつ
Ride on Rock'n'Roll Shooting Star
うっせえギター鳴らし
Fire Cracker Every Night
夜を染めろ
意味なんて関係ねえ
ただ自分の
衝動に素直に
従うだけさ
Ride on Rock'n'Roll Shooting Star
爆音ギターかまし
Fire Cracker Every Night
夜に爆ぜろ
飲んだくれていた
昔の神様
奴等が刻んで
伝えた言葉
Too Fast To Live Too Young To Die (x3)
Hey Guys聴けよ
今夜は派手に行くぜ
今この瞬間
革命を起こせ
頭の中身を
全てぶち壊せ
飲んだくれていた
昔の神様
奴等が刻んで
伝えた言葉
Too Fast To Live Too Young To Die (x7)
I just included the English lyrics as well as it is part of the song, that's already in english, but I truly would appreciate it if someone could translate the Japanese Kanji into English as I am going to use for my interpretation of the song that I am going to be making an AMV (Anime Music Video) with (Also possibly add subtitles). I used a google and yahoo translator, but it really didn't make any sense and translation left out words still in Kanji and some in Romaji. Just do what's the easiest or more convenient for you. Any help, advice, or direction is much appreciated
If you want to see the AMV when it's done, just tell me (It will be my 2nd AMV)
Thanks to anyone who can help,

I am not sure where to post this but can someone translate this for me. I am trying to read some Japanese text from a card game but the online translation isn't too clear.
このカードと同じ名前のカードは、デッキに好きな枚数入れることができる。
I thought it meant I can put any quantity of this card into my deck but I am not sure.
And whats the difference between
このカードとBattleしているキャラが【Reverse】した時
and
このカードとBattle中のキャラが【Reverse】した時

このカードと同じ名前のカードは、デッキに好きな枚数入れることができる
I think it means "any cards with the same name as this card, you can place as many as you like into your deck" so you're pretty much right
And whats the difference between
このカードとBattleしているキャラが【Reverse】した時
and
このカードとBattle中のキャラが【Reverse】した時
first one is when a reverse occurs when a battle is specifically being worked out, second is simply reversing when they're in the middle of a battle
I think

And whats the difference between
このカードとBattleしているキャラが【Reverse】した時
and
このカードとBattle中のキャラが【Reverse】した時
Nuance wise that I get for this would be:
'when a person is actually battling'
vs
During a battle (the person doesn't have to be fighting per se, but a battle is occuring)

Thanks for the reply.
For the battle question, does it specify who gets [Reverse]?
I have a couple more question if you don't mind
このカードが【REST】しているなら
(Point in question: Does it mean "to make it [REST]" or "if it is in [REST]"?
あなたは自分のキャラを1枚選び、【STAND】する
(Same thing here. Does it mean to "choose 1 [STAND] character" or "choose 1 character and make it [STAND]" ?

"choose 1 character and make it [STAND]"
and as for the first, hmm
"if it is in [REST]"?
But it's an incomplete sentence (so it feels like), after the 'if' what is the 'then'?
As for does it specify 'who', it does so in context, so a person would suss out the subject via playing the game.
I can't tell, but it sounds like the characters in the game themselves?

Sorry i did not make it clear. I mean does it specify whether it is this card get that reverse or the opposing card that gets reversed. Or rather, which is more correct?
"When this card battles and gets [REVERSE]" or "When this card [REVERSE] the card it battles"
or neither or both?
But it's an incomplete sentence (so it feels like), after the 'if' what is the 'then'?
Yes those sentences are incomplete as i cut out the unnecessary(?) parts to simplify it.

Ah now i can see that your examples are incomplete, hence it's all vague on my end. :\
Given what you've written, if the sentence begins with
このカード...
then most likely it's the card you're playing with, in other words,
"When this card battles and gets [REVERSED]"
Hai again
Would someone be so kind as to write a text in romaji and kanji for me from a YouTube clip? It's from the movie Tekkonkinkreet. It's from 0:51 -> 01:27. The text (in english) is:
What is it about the fire?
So calm and peaceful... But inside, all power and destruction.
It’s hiding something. Just like people do.
Sometimes you have to get close to find out what’s inside. Sometimes you have to get burned to see the truth.

edit: thought I'd throw in a more literal translation as well for those who were wondering why it sounds so .. different
Fire is a strange thing.
So quiet and calm,
yet inside there is only power and destruction.
It's hiding things. Just like people. (so pretty close there)
If you don't look closely it's possible you won't know what's inside.
If you don't meet with pain at times, it may be you won't see the truth.

How do you say 'rooftop' or 'what do you think?'
I am asking for anonymous reasons. Just help me (written in both japanese and how you say it. I'd appreciate it.)

How do you say 'rooftop' or 'what do you think?'
'Rooftop'
屋上 (okujou)
'What do you think?'
[More casual] どう?(Dou?)
[Casual] どう思う?(Dou omou?)
[Polite] どう思いますか。(Dou omoimasuka?)
[More polite]どうお考えですか。(Dou okangae desuka?)
Are you finding some Japanese to comment on the spectacular rooftop of your house? :p

Not quite, actually.
One more 'You aren't lying are you'? or 'Do you really mean it?'
Truth be told, it's for the translation project I'm working on, and I just don't feel comfortable guessworking, so I'm asking pros... Complimenting a person on the school's garden rooftops. Oh how romantic~ :3

'Do you really mean it?'
(Do you really think like that?)
本当にそう思う? (Hontou ni sou omou?)
本当にそう思いますか?(Hountou ni sou omoimasu ka?)
(Are you serious?)

Would anyone mind telling me about a part of this ad?
http://i631.photobucket.com/albums/uu33/lovepocky212/ggggg.jpg
I can infer that the top part says that the Sakuya and Sanae plushies will be bundled with keychains. Could someone tell me where and/or when the Reimu and Marisa keychains will be sold? They're in the bottom left corner.

If you buy either the Sakuya or Sanae plushie set in the "Gift Plushie Festival" on 1st May, you can have an extra Reimu or Marisa keychain as a bonus. In other words if you buy both sets you can get the keychains of all four girls.
There is no information on whether the Reimu or Marisa keychain will be sold separately, though.

[That's a lot of images right thar! rawr eaten]
Just want to understand what those mean before I start playing.
THANKS!
I'm not gonna translate that, I'll just give u files to translate them in game. Only works with Full Voice.

Put the files in the G00 folder. If it asks you if you want to replace the files, click Yes to all.

P.S. : This isn't a place that tolerates, ahem, games acquired in a non-monetary manner. It's not a good idea to go around stating where you got your loot from, if you got it from there. Just a friendly notice, Animesuki doesn't like any illegal activity, unless it's fansubs of non-licensed series. ;)
O Okay Thanks! I don't have the full voice version though..
Thanks AGAIN!
If only I know Japanese...!!!:(

Oh, whoops. Well, it's easy enough to learn the basic menu buttons from trial and error, and the more in-depth options shouldn't need to be changed anyway. :heh: Ah well, I helped you somehow.

1 and 4 are stupidly small imo, try getting larger scans. working on 3 atm (cos 2 is just overkill.)

Not a Japanese request, actually.. so I hope this is acceptable.
I need the 'spoilered' text translated into Polish, if anyone could do that for me.
Thanks if you can, and if you can, I need it before the end of today! ;)
I am so so sorry, I should have never been so forward with you in the first place, I should've just kept it to myself. Maybe if we were just better friends.. things could work out. I wish I could go back in time, and never show that interest in you, or that we don't know each other, that would make things hell of a lot easier for me.
But now, it is time for me to say goodbye to you, and I know we will not see eachother again, unless I decide to return, but the chances are slim. I wanted us to stay in touch, and still be friends but if the feeling isn't mutual for you then what is the point?
But to be fair, I had to say goodbye somehow, and I think this letter will be less painful for me.. I can tell today I am going to cry, it is going to hurt, and I won't forget about you straight away!
But anyway think of how different school will be without me, nobody to annoy you anymore, I am sorry for always annoying and pestering you, I can't help it, I don't know how to love anybody, I am such a straightforward person, everything I do is direct, and it is sometimes intimidating, annoying and maybe stressful.
I hope you start talking to me on Facebook once I am gone, that way I can at least speak to you a little. I hope you do well and achieve what you want in the future, and I also hope you get back to where you really want to be.
I Love You, My Frog!
Don't even ask! :p

I've just begun browsing 2ch anime section, and I wonder about this japanese text which is above every message...

1. What does that text mean/translate into?
2. Why are some in blue color and some in green color? Is it just random or does it represent something?

名無しさん is basically the Japanese version of 'annonymous'. (no name san basically)
the rest.. well I get the literal meaning but I don't get what they mean in this context lol. will check
1. What does that text mean/translate into?
Anonymous in the valley of the wind @ Live goes in the live board.
All 2ch posts have some random "name" for anonymous based on previous memes or other stuff. The "name" of anonymous depends on what board you are on and is randomly selected from a list in some boards.
2. Why are some in blue color and some in green color? Is it just random or does it represent something?
Blue is with mailto:sage'd [does not bump the thread, considered proper], green is age'd [bumps the thread, considered improper].

For a project of sorts, I only need to figure out how to say two things in japanese.
"I would have gotten away with it too, if it weren't for you meddling coppers!"
I do know what I am going to say for "Coppers", which in japanese would probably be "Pori" or something.
And "Don't be so up-tight!" I do know what I am going to say for up-tight, which will be "kibishii", or 'strict'. It actually has to be like that, or else I would not meet the requirements (Have four い adjectives somewhere, and that sentence is the last one.)

'don't be so': I think something like そんなに might work.. eg そんなに厳しい事しないで or whatever
..working on the first one xD

Thank you, the second line worked well. Yeah, I made a new thread 'cause I was (And right now still am) in morning rush and this thread is oddly hard to find.
A humble translation request:

Is that Chinese or Japanese text? Do you want the romaji or just the english translation?
I may find time to do it via online translator.
It's Japanese.
Well I could probably do it myself with a dictionary and some time :heh:, I just was hoping someone fluent and kanji-skilled might have been able to do it in a snap.

Need to clarify if the katakana mentioned "ジャックリンーヌ・ヴィラン" mean Jacklynn Viran or not? I'm a bit confused with my katakana reading skills for this one. I found this name in the Japanese FMP TSR booklets.
Thanks.
