Premise/Summary:
For years, the Japanese government has kept a secret: mythical creatures like centaurs, harpies and lamia are real.[1] Three years before the start of this story, the government published the existence of these creatures and passed a legal bill, the "Interspecies Cultural Exchange Act". Since then, the 'liminals' have become a part of human society, living with ordinary families like foreign exchange students and au-pair visitors, but with other duties and restrictions (the main one being that liminals are forbidden to harm humans and vice versa).

Kimihito Kurusu did not volunteer for the exchange program, but when Ms. Smith delivered the very scared and embarrassed Miia to his door by mistake,[1] he didn't have the heart to send her away and they started living together. As the story continues, Kimihito meets and gives shelter to other female liminals, each of a different species. Some arrive more or less by accident, some are forced upon him by Ms. Smith—or force themselves in, and it does not take long for him to find himself in a hectic environment where he struggles to live in harmony with his new housemates while dealing with both their constant advances and the dramas of helping them get along in the human world. The situation takes on a whole new twist after he is told that because of expected changes in the law dealing with human-liminal relationships, it is hoped that he will marry one of the girls.

I've read a few chapters of the manga, but don't remember much of it.

This had to be the very first time I've seen a title that had half-legitimate monster girls getting an anime.

Which is interesting, I've read a bit of the manga and while it was your typical high-level ecchi comedy, it actually comes packed with an unique twist involving supernatural girls that aren't just humans pretending to have monster status (I'm looking at you, Dragonar Academy), they definitively have the characteristics of a human/monster hybrid as well. From what I've read during that time, the protagonist isn't an highschooler so that's a plus.

So it seems summer feels promising only because many of the very popular manga (Prison School especially) are airing in that season. This is going to a rather (erotically) hot period.

It's a monthly series so saying 30ish chapters isn't enough is weird.

If I had to guess where an anime would end, it would probably be the arc that just finished with the mothers' visits. To be honest it could actually end before that since I could see a lot of the chapters being expanded out to take up a whole episode.

The unique thing about this series is, it takes the anatomy and culture of the monster girls rather seriously for a harem standard, sometimes even down to the grim details. But hey, I already said that if the series is only 12-13, I don't think there will be any problem. I was just commenting on the relatively early adaptation it gets, not that it's extraordinarily early mind you.

That may be the case but just because its a good manga doesnt mean it'll be a good anime. This is one of those shows that will either be really good or really bad but definitely not in between and given the recent failings of harem anime as a whole this one looks to be down that path.

Yes, we should wait for it to have 60 chapters done so instead of shouting out "TOO EARLY!" than fans can instead bitch about them mowing through content instead. It's not like this has some amazing story that will get cut short in its animated form, its appeal is all about the monster girls and there is easily enough material for a one cour series, which is what the majority of anime runs at. In return an anime will further boost the profile of the franchise and it's not like this wouldn't be filler friendly either....

In six months time we'll probably have manga fans whining about them going through too much material anyway (why they skip my waifu's parts too much!! :( ), which makes all this it's too early posts pretty funny.

For a 1-cour show, I don't see the problem. One, maybe two chapters per episode will still end up short of where the manga will be by that time. And that's assuming they'll make a one-on-one adaptation, and not add in some original material, which would allow the manga more time to get further ahead.

Given how much I love the manga, I'm definitely looking forward to it.

This is one that's been a long time coming, and now its finally confirmed. Time for moe harpy! A Miia and Cerea are fine too, of course.

About the announcement being too soon, I believe it shouldn't be a big deal. As others mentioned, the series is very SoL in nature and each chapter is pretty self contained, so therisk of story hiccups and rushing is pretty low. I do agree it will be censored to hell, though.

Okay look guys here's what i'm reacting to as to why i have concerns about this anime. Because i also like the manga and i'm not upset to see it get an anime.

1. The monster girl element is different but once u get away from that most of it comes off as generic in many ways.
2. Recently harems overall have struggled as anime's and this season is no exception. (how much of that is because they're LN's is another matter although Isuca is a manga and its an absolute disaster)
3. If its the monster girls living with him alone thats one thing but the fact that he's gonna have to choose one of them changes that dynamic.

Now until the episodes start i could be totally wrong i could be spot on but i dont know but i'm worried about it.

To be honest I don't really understand your worries here. Are monster girls generic harem? Everyone know that, it never tried pretend to be more and yet it became very popular among large number of many other harems. Why? Because it's fun and have good fanservice. If it was enough to make manga stand out, it will be enough for anime too. If nothing else it's better than for example Nisekoi which still get lot of atention.

I think thats very possible that they do what Shinmai had. (that being said borderline H-scenes are pretty much Shinmai's selling point in the LN because thats pretty much all they talk about on the LN forums all the crazy scenes that are missing from this show.)

The fact is if there's no rachnea they arent gonna get close to the ending of this marriage plot so there's zero point in adding any of that. Without that plot what do u have but Borderline H scenes. i mean really.

IMS has schedule issues. The reason why twintails was QUALITY was because they were working on Shinmai at the same time. Plus with TOHO producing it, they usually have a big budget for their shows.

I mean from their works I previously watched (haven't seen Majikoi besides the first few episodes and Carnival Phantasm though), they weren't too bad but also nothing special quality-wise even though I actually enjoyed Dangan Ronpa the best while admitting the flaws as an adaptation.

It's easy to dismiss their designs are fanservice, but at least they gave them something in a way of explanation. For the centaur, the females of her race all have large breast because their young require a lot of milk when they are born, and for the harpy, she needs a small and lithe frame in order to fly.

So you can blame evolution for their designs.

But in the source material, her knees do not have bending sections. Its an straight shape to the feet and then the claws, like birds. Now it looks like something you would see in an alien, or an insect and it bothers me, A LOT sadly XD

There is. It is called The Tales of the Little Mermaid, and it isn't a happy story. The monstegirls are not aliens, they are part of human society and in fact, for the single-gender species, they are technically human sub-species by definition; they can breed with humans and produce fertile offspring. That IS what makes them "human".

Saw the PV, and I think it's mighty fine. Not blowing my mind, especially for a manga-reader like me, but I think the animation (of little I've seen here) serves it purpose really well. Frankly, all you need in this series are hilarious moments that explore all the nature & quirky-ness of the monster girls and the show can just keep on going and I will continue to watch it (come at me, fillers!!!) :D. Hell, one of my wildest dreams is for this series to have as many episodes as Ranma or Inuyasha or more :p.

Because it's formula isn't revolved around being sexually exposed by some idiotic mishap, trip or misunderstanding. It was cute the first few chapters, but when it happens in every 5 pages or so it gets stupid. Also DBZ is OLD, it has every right to be repetitive. Most if not all of the Older anime's were repetitive. But not as Repetitive and non moving as ToLoveRu.



Back on the subject of Monsters, I hope they at least get to do the Mother's Day episodes. Those were some of the best. They can keep the fanservice, but I hope they get in all the serious heart warming chapters to episodes and not all just pure fanservice.

Well okay...regarding the first episode:

It is censored by mist (in the baths). However, it's not as bad as To Love Ru Darkness S2's censorship this season. The comedy still retains what I felt from the manga especially with the O.O faces from the MC. OP song is catchy. We also get the date in the second half of the first episode.

Not bad overall in terms of comedy.
