TV anime Qualidea Code announced.
Plot Summary:
The story takes place at the world, in which people continue their war against the "unknown" - the enemy of humanity. They are children, who have been evacuated to the cold sleep facility during the invasion by the "unknown" several decades ago. When they wake up from their slumber, they learn that their own bodies develop some supernatural forces. In order to protect the country from the "unknown" emerging from the Tokyo bay gate, the boys and girls wage battles in the defense cities of Tokyo, Kanagawa, and Chiba.

No, it is the start of the war. The title of the 2nd volume of project is "Itsuka Sekai wo Sukuu Tame ni - Qualidea Code"
Kuzu to Kinka no Qualidea (Qualidea of Scum and a Gold Coin) is the prologue of the project. If you read Kuzu, there will be certain interesting foreshadows on the first page of each chapter about Unknown invading.

After all,
They did it in Kuzu, just before the invasion :heh: They might have adopted Chigusa as their family name for certain reason. I'm more curious as to how the cross road junction fits into everything.

Then again, it did say original animation, so the anime might be standalone in some ways as part of the cross-media project. But it's no doubt centered on characters in v2 and v3.

Henneko author is capable of writing heart warming stories with fluff. I personally prefer him to Tachibana of DAL.
But anyway, Sagara wrote Yuu's POV in Kuzu (while Watari wrote Haruma's POV). And she's funny as hell :heh:

To me she looks more like Ikaruga from Senran Kagura with ponytail on. Otherwise her uniform has the same colors too.

Randomly stumbled on to a trailer about this while on Youtube the other day and thought looked like a LN adaption. Look like I was half-right!
Don't know if it's any good so far, but I do like the character designs. So I'll keep an eye on it.

That's a different character. The MC of the novel actually.
I wonder if he will appear in the anime. He doesn't appear in the PV or the series' website.

V2 of Hotaru x Maihime (by Tachibana) this month. I'm already confused by the numbering. For a while I thought the Sagara solo book was the continuation of Tachibana. Blame me for not finishing V1. We still don't know whether this is an adaptation of Tachibana and Sagara series or a cross media separate story, do we?

Since some people seem to be confused about the connection between the light novels and anime, this is what I know right now.
There are tree novels.
Kuzu to Kinka no Qualidea (1 volume)
Itsuka Sekai o Sukū Tame ni: Qualidea Code (2 volumes)
Sonna Sekai wa Kowashiteshimae: Qualidea Code (1 volume)
The anime takes characters from Itsuka and Sonna, and adds two original characters (the Chigusa siblings). It doesn't seem to be an adaptation, but who knows.

Well this started out as a cross-media project apparently so technically it shouldn't be. Anime maybe using the same characters and general story beats/concepts but mostly gonna end up it's own thing. Hence why they can change a gender of a character without issue, so it's probably best not rely on the others too heavily anyway.

There is a yet to be released 4th installment. Considering Itsuka covers the Kanagawa sector and Sonna covers the Tokyo sector, I think it's pretty obvious that the 4th book will cover the Chigusa siblings in Chiba.
However, on http://qualidea.jp/ before the flash animation loads, it does say Original Animation - Qualidea Code. So it's most likely not an adaptation, just a project that uses the same setting as the novels.

It's definitely or most likely not Spring.
The February issue of Kadokawa's Newtype magazine will feature an interview with Speakeasy when it ships on January 9. The multimedia project will also have a stage program at this year's Anime Japan 2016 event in March.

Yeah it's not the same characters but still the fact that the original character is not appears in the anime (at least not in the trailer) despite being one of qualidea novels' mc, and a girl who looks like him appears in the trailer, that means the girl is female version of the guy. From what I heard the anime will have its original story so it might not completely follow the novel story.

I missed that Taku Iwasaki was confirmed for the music for this when that news first broke, was more than likely going to watch this anyway but now it's 100%. Liked the initial PV + music....

Well for it's worth, the OST sure is catchy for this show.
We also got some fan service..(kinda expected it tbh) with the girls. The introduction of the main characters is pretty generic. There's also implied tragedy based on the flashbacks as well...
Meanwhile, I guess the action is okay for most parts. And animation style looks decent. Hotaru is the coolest character from this series so far imo.

Basically an introductory episode for those unfamiliar with the characters.
Maihime OP as hell.
The Chiba Chigusas must have inherited Yohane's cynicism :heh:
I haven't read all the different books yet, but the plot behind Qualidea series feels largely simple and straightforward so far from what I've seen (Kuzukin had an air of mystery though).
Though the mixed media nature arising from the different authors (collectively codenamed Speakeasy) gives it a stronger flavor which makes some of the generic tropes and characters more consumable for me.
I suppose reading all 4 novel series first before the anime would allow one to get the maximum entertainment value from the show.

Lol. A O-KAY episode. Liked the introduction for all characters. Protag guy is annoying and can just die for all I care but hike is nicem if protag guy can do almighty push or vector control. I can allow his arrogance but he can't. His just a moving shoving gravity ball guy. Not much to say. Asuha? Chiba girl is cool and his oniisan is my type of protag. Cool and lazy guy. I don't like hard headed, stubborn shounen MC. Overdone heroes are boring for me.

I think this was a perfect example of an "okay" anime: Nothing spectacular, or particularly surprising, filled with (REALLY) big swords, the newest flavor of Neuroi and fancy shoulderplates, but still competent enough to hold your interest for the duration of an episode. To its credit, it did do a pretty good job in showcasing the main cast and their personalities, as well as the fact the not-Neuroi are a joke and the real problem lies inside this new world, in more ways than one.
Will be keeping up to see how it goes. And here's to more of the Chiba brothers, because they're cool.

While it certainly doesn't look like anime of decade, it is quite simple straightforward fun. Protagonist is indeed sort of annoying but I think he does good contrast with other teams dynamics (plus he is not OP, that alone make him great). What's more first episode looks like other pairs might be more of deuteragonists than just harem fodder.
For militarised teenagers protecting world type of LN it has certainly great start all it's worth.

I dont disagree with you accept for the Chiba thing those siblings are just as irritating. But i feel like this HAS to get better. IT has stuff to work with at least for now.

This was an okay first episode. Not great, but not terrible either. It was straightforward too. Introduced each of the characters and help you get an idea for their personalities and interactions with one another. The MC's attitude can quickly get annoying, though if the show not rewarding his behavior can make it better. I guess it also does help make his interactions with the others better.
Seems like the real conflicts in this series will be from within the cities rather than from the unknown.
I have to agree with everyone else here about wanting to see more of the Chiba siblings.

Anyway, gotta wonder about the cold sleep tech that caused the development of the World powers. So far it's taken for granted, but Canaria is starting to wonder about it's origins. As for the Unknown, I don't think it's wise to underestimate their zerging capabilities. :p

Honestly I like the characters from each city.
The Chiba pair are interesting, but they don't seem quite active enough to be PoV characters. Kanagawa pair are fun, and the MC's attitude is irritating, but he's a little interesting by virtue of not being a typical nice guy while not being an amoral scumbag.
Their interactions with each other has some promise, I hope the author takes advantage of that and really plays around with it.
Animation is nothing to write home about though, which is a shame.

I knew Henneko author wouldn't let me down. Childhood friends ftw! Sibling duo has promise, but I personally love the MC's "The only one needed is me!" attitude. Seems like he doesn't want to be useless again, if only for the one and only person whose opinion matters to him *cough*Canaria*cough* :D
Overall, the episode felt kinda empty? OK post apocalyptic world, the kids went to cold sleep, then they manifest powers or given the power by the 'world'. We get no sense of danger since the pilot shows us that while the Unknown are a pest, the biggest threat is themselves. No real hook yet; granted it's early, but with other shows like Rewrite and Thunderbolt Fantasy having fantastic pilots, I have to admit I'm a bit disappointed with Qualidea Code.

I was interested in this show because the writer of the Yahari Ore novels and the Assistant Director for Gunslinger Girl and Black Lagoon were involved. However the first episode seemed kind of bland and generic, and the production values weren't that great. Frankly I found it kind of dull.

I might give it 1-2 more episodes. I was joking with my brother by saying this:
That noob alien left 1 SCV alive and some irrelevant structure. He went AFK for 15 minutes...
Please, make aliens threatening so that I feel some tension while watching it :(
