The ED really grew on me after listening to it a few times. It's hard to believe Freyja's VA Minori Suzuki is a rookie to the industry. The OP is really good as well, I like the intro of the song. Also do we know when the singles are released?

After hearing the OP song for Macross Delta again for a few times, I actually think it's good. My favorite from the show so far is still Ikenai Borderline though.

For me, Cosmic Movement already took Ikenai Borderline's spot as being the best Macross Delta song. :)

Apparently the song that Freyja sings when Hayate is piloting at the end is actually called "Bokura no Senjou" or "Our Battlefield". Cosmic Movement is the song playing when Walkure was practicing earlier.

I'm surprise Bokura no Senjou isn't on the tracklist for this one.

Was looking forward to hearing the full version. It has become my favorite among the songs we've heard so far, love especially when it kicks into techno gear.

Highly unlikely. Why would they want May'n/Sheryl return for Delta with a new song when Walkure are the main stars? She already had her shot of fame from Frontier and it wouldn't be fair to the singers of Walkure if May'n would steal their spotlight. As much as I loved May'n's songs in Frontier it's not up to Kawamori and crew to pull her out of the rut she's in. Not to mention Yoko Kanno isn't even the musical composer for Delta. Anyway it's JUNNA's, Minoru Suzuki's and the rest of Walkure's time to shine.

Well that's your opinion. Ikenai Borderline is already up there is and is at least at par with any of May'n's songs. We've only heard a total of 4 songs from Walkure and its too early to say that their songs are sub-par compared to hers. Not to mention Walkure is an idol singer group and is different to May'n who does singles or at most duets with Megumi Nakajima. May'n already had her chance and Macross Frontier made her famous. It's up to her and not Kawamori to find good composers for her new songs. Like I said it wouldn't be fair at all to the Walkure singers because they are the stars of Delta and its their moment to shine.

I never said or implied that you thought Walkure was bad. But you made it clear that you considered their songs to be inferior to May'n's/Sheryl's which is subjective. Like I mentioned earlier their styles of singing are very different and Walkure only released 4 songs to date and the series is far from over which doesn't make it a fair enough assessment.

It's not about telling you are missing the target but about anticipating return fire after you shoot.

I'm not saying that you want her to replace Walkure. But to have Sheryl herself (or Ranka) cameo even for one episode to sing defeats the purpose that Walkure as the main attraction for all the songs in Delta. It's also about promotion and keep viewers interested in Walkure and not previous idols. This is the same reason why Basara didn't make a cameo in Frontier and we only heard like 2-3 of Fire Bomber songs as inserts or BGM. That's also probably what's also going to happen if they play Sheryl's songs in Delta or have Mikumo and/or Freyja sing them instead.

I would not love a Cameo. A reference would be fine but this show needs to be able to stand on its own.
Ikenai Borderline is great. Everything else is forgettable up until now as far as songs. The same applies to almost everything else: Mikumo's design is pretty original as well as Freija's but everyone else is a rehash of extremely recycled cliche anime characters. We are only on episode 4, let's hope they start pouring a lot of creativity in the next set of songs along with everything else. Coming after Macross Frontier, Delta has big shoes to fill.

The song's been growing on me. When I first heart it on the show I got a bit turned off by some of the harsher transitions but now that I'm used to them I find myself enjoying the full song quite a bit.

Delta may not have the sheer impact Frontier had for me in the music department* but it's still shaping up to have a pretty kickass collection of songs either way. It's also pretty unfair to compare it to a show whose music was handled by THE Kanno Yoko. :heh:

I'm really hoping we get more Mikumo centric songs though...at the moment with how much center stage Freyja is getting I'm not sure exactly how likely that would be, but I generally prefer lower registers and her start up of "Our Battlefield" pretty much killed me.

Also hrm...I'm really so-so about the Delta OP, then again I really didn't like "Triangular" for Macross Frontier either (Sorry Maaya Sakamoto) and I'll be first to admit that I prefer "Ikenai Borderline" to "Iteza Gogo Kuji Don't be late" (Dunnnnooo I love most of the Sheryl songs but Don'tBeLate was always a bit clunky for me).

I get the distinct feeling that it was purely intentional. Axia is probably made to sound slightly older than the rest of the songs for reasons pointed out in story. Maybe that's why it reminded me of such an old* show. :heh:

Never mind the other Knights (I would've expected at least Bogue, though, he's sort of a mascot character), there's no Heinz or Roid either. Maybe this is really is based on potential romances, and it's a hint that there will be a Mikumo/Keith relationship? (And by that logic, a Makina/Reina/Chuck threesome...? I'd be okay with that.)

But yes, the song is pretty nice, and I like the visuals, too, although I expected at least a bit more effort... :heh:

I'm glad they sang NEO STREAM in full version in ep 14. The other one from one of the previous eps was just the 2nd part.

Cosmic Movement, AXIA, Walkure Attack and Bokura no Senjou. 3 times a day I guess. The songs are SO catchy, guhh. Who knows what more songs they'll include in the 2nd album.

Yeah it's really weird that not even Bogue who is the second most promoted Knight or Roid appear in the ending.
All members of Walkure and all Delta Squad members appear (Messer appears after Arad and before Kaname).

So the theory about it only showing surviving characters is wrong, although maybe it's not showing surviving characters but characters that are/will be on the "good guys" side, maybe Keith will join Chaos (not a theory I particularly like :p), but who knows.
Anyway with the first ending, it had to grow on me before I could really say I liked it, and with this one I really liked it almost instantly.

The new ending is growing on me after I watched it a third time.

Did anyone notice that those circles around the Siegfried are really Hayate's and Freyja's resonance fold? They were out of sync in the beginning and after the Valkyrie arrives to its destination (Walkure, specifically Freyja) it becomes harmonized again. It really pushes they have to work together.

It's easy. Just make sure you know the information of your current iTunes account, such as the email and password. Then sign out of the app store and create a Japanese iTunes account. Definitely the best cover yet. I really like these outfits.

Glad we're getting a Freyja solo for GIRAFFE BLUES since I thought we wouldn't and really wanted one (I hope we get more Freyja solos for a lot of other songs but that's just my Freyja bias. :heh:) I like Zettai Reido θ Novatic a lot more than Ichido dake no Koi nara so I'm looking forward to that. Hametsu no Junjou is fortunately just as good as Rune ga Pikatto Hikattara. :D

...Frontier didn't really have sparkling or interesting album covers, if I remember correctly (even for Lion). In fact, the cover for Sayonara no Tsubasa's soundtrack is not even as appealing as this new cover for an OP/ED single, IMO. :heh:

That's happened with every Delta CD release thus far. I still preorder and buy.

The leaks probably aren't deliberate, because there have to be some sales loss from the consistent pattern of the one-week-early leak, but most of the preorder purchasers aren't likely to change their minds, and the net effect may be that more people do buy it anyway, as often happens.

And I believe I'd like a Freyja and Mikumo only version of Ruin of pure heart; because it's not as powerful when Reina is the one with the "I love you" lyric... maybe because I've re-watched episode 18 so many times... And I hope there is an acoustic version of The wind blows without notice (insert song in episode 16) because I like it more when it was a Freyja only song and she sang it without music in the background. My issue with Ruin of Pure Heart is because Reina (in this full version) is singing the lyric Freyja sings in episode 18 to Hayate. :uhoh: It's because I'm used to hearing the version in episode 18 (where only Mikumo and Freyja are singing past the 1min marker). Plus, Mikumo is downgraded on lyrics for the single version. Maybe an album version of it later will be everything I hoped; I'll live with this version for now though because it's still catchy. ;)

The problem is, it's the only bit that even sounds a little like the anime version. :heh: Because, as I pointed out earlier, Reina singing the "I love you" lyric which in episode 18 Freyja sings is conflicting at first because of her accent (it's almost like she's singing an English song) and lower voice...

And no one can best Mikumo singing an acoustic of it to overheat the ruins. ;)

It's kind of like when we learned What 'bout my star? @Formo in Frontier was to have a Ranka only version for release too only... we never received one. Because sometimes it is nice when they release solos. However, in Mikumo and Freyja's case, I'd love a duet only of Ruin of Pure Heart because it'd fit with their rivalry for singing (plus their the only ones who make it past the 1st chorus in episode 18 so there might be a version for that later).

Hmmm, in regards to their albums, Delta has probably the most out of all the Macross series. Frontier only has 3 right? Walkure currently has 3 + one soundtrack iirc.

Quantity of albums:

Delta has the Love! Halation THE WAR" single, the first OP/ED single (with "Ikenai Borderline", the first soundtrack, Walküre Attack!, and the second OP/ED single (with "The Wind Blows Without Notice" and multiple versions of "Giraffe Blues").

Upcoming are the second soundtrack and Walküre Trap!.

Frontier (series) had the "Triangular" OP single (with a bonus song that I don't even remember), the "Diamond Crevasse/Iteza Gogo Kuji" ED single, the "Seikan Hikou" (and other Ranka songs) single, the "Lion/Northern Cross" ED single, two soundtrack albums, and the Nyan Tama double vocal album.

...so it might be better to compare by counting individual songs. Someone else can do that. :heh:

I think it's definitely Mikumo's character/Solo Song. Silent Hacker is Reinas character song after all and she's singing it solo too - they didn't put a "Reina Solo" beside it because it's already known as her own Song. Freyjas Rune-Song didn't have a Freyja Solo beside it either so I think we're safe with Love! Thunder Grow/Glow(is it Glow as it is written in the song list on the japanese site? Or did they make a mistake and it's Grow? Then again I think Glow makes more sense??).

Songs like Giraffe Blues and Hametsu no Junjou are known as "Walküre Songs" that every member participates in, so writing a specific person beside it that sings it solo makes sense. Songs that are already known as Solos from the anime don't need it, I believe.

But the even bigger question is: Why can't we get a Kaname Solo for Giraffe Blues :confused:

I only posted what I read elsewhere. Some say yes or might be, others say no, so I didn't say "that's her" without any actual proof.

That and the instrumental of Oboete Imasuka. But really, nothing beats the Hoshi no utaite song for me. It starts off so nice and then it just becomes completely awesome. Props to JUNNA for this one.

I agree with you on it being a strong song that would fit a evil king or queen. It really fitted "Evil Roid". Argh, it already gave me goosebumps during the end of episode 25 but in the final one I was downright in awe with all the instruments in it. It's a masterpiece and JUNNAs voice is the quint essence that makes it fantastic.

Hear the Universe! Finally! ... But I'm disappointed now that I can hear the whole thing proper. No problem with the composition itself, but it feels like some parts just get too high for Walküre to sing it in the way that they do. So it's honestly a bit painful at those parts, unfortunately.

Well, LOVE! THUNDER GLOW is great as usual, and it's nice to have another Kaname-lead song in Namidame Bakuhatsuon. Kaname's my favorite Walküre member, both for her character and her voice. Her singing is nice on the ears and skillful, and she seems to be a lot more consistent than JUNNA (not an insult to JUNNA! If it weren't for the consistency thing, which I'm sure she'll fix up in no time as she gets more experience, SHE'D be my favorite singer of them easily). Wasn't fond of Walküre's rendition of Do You Remember Love?, though. They could have composed a much more interesting way to use five voices for this song than they did.

Well... Zald Vahsa (or however I should call it in English) and Neo Stream shall remain as my favorite vocal pieces from Delta. As much as I love the honks and sexy feel of Ikenai Borderline, I just can't resist Neo Stream's funky piano bit and the fact that it actually gives prolonged solo parts to ALL of the girls instead of just making it yet another Mikumo And Freyja Show. ... I'm also fond of the Engrish.

If my ears don't betray me, I think Ami Koshimizu is singing the part that starts with "Oboete imasuka". That's how it sounds to me at least, because in that part the singing voice doesn't sound like JUNNAs. After that the epic instrumental kicks in and JUNNA takes the lead again.

Haha, I had JUST come back to this thread to edit my post, because I noticed while listening to it on repeat after I posted, that the singing at that part didn't have the depth and expression that JUNNA always has... It sounds like she might also be the one singing very quietly under the choir around 2:35~, and probably a bit around 3:30~ too. I'm surprised she managed to trick my ears like that. I'm usually pretty good at picking out different vocalists.

You know what? I think the exact same thing about that :D I was almost too afraid to post it, since there are many fans of Mikumos voice.

I really looked forward to her solo version but I too think that it doesn't flow as nicely as the original version with all the members does. It's just like you say, it somehow doesn't fit. It's a little bit like someone tried to squeeze a puzzle piece in a section where it doesn't belong.

Well, LOVE! THUNDER GLOW is great as usual, and it's nice to have another Kaname-lead song in Namidame Bakuhatsuon. Kaname's my favorite Walküre member, both for her character and her voice. Her singing is nice on the ears and skillful, and she seems to be a lot more consistent than JUNNA (not an insult to JUNNA! If it weren't for the consistency thing, which I'm sure she'll fix up in no time as she gets more experience, SHE'D be my favorite singer of them easily). Wasn't fond of Walküre's rendition of Do You Remember Love?, though. They could have composed a much more interesting way to use five voices for this song than they did.

Gotta agree with you here. And I'm still waiting for Kaname's solo "Giraffe Blues". Will we ever get it, lol... :p

Yeah I too agree despite being a fan of JUNNAs singing voice that solo Hametsu no Junjou is a bit awkward. Think ill stick with the other version.

Woo, more Kaname mains! I'm kind of excited for JUNNA's Diamond Crevasse, but I worry she won't be able to pull of the softer parts. Freyja's cover of Seikan Hikou doesn't interest me at all, though. She may sound similar but she lacks the depth in her voice that Megumi Nakajima had, so it just sounds airy and I don't think it will sound good.

I have absolutely no clue why they chose to do solo versions of Bokura no Senjou. You've practically already got that in the standard song depending on the chorus/verse. And I get that the Freyja/Mikumo covers chosen were probably their audition songs, but I'd rather get serious covers for each member of Walküre. Imagine Mikumo singing Information High (Macross PLUS), Kaname singing Seventh Moon (Macross 7), Freyja singing Feel Universe (Macross 7) greenlesbian singing Pink Monsoon (Macross Fronter) and I guess pinklesbian could sing Yanyan (Macross Zero) or Watashi no Kare wa Pilot (SDF). Or the two lesbians (come on, they totally are) could do a duet of Universal Bunny. That song always seemeed like it should be a duet.

... And maybe a bonus track where May'n and and Yoshiki Fukuyama sing the duet version of Holy Lonely Light, my favorite song from Macross 7. I will never stop dreaming for that. I need to listen to their song.

That being said I feel May'N singing with any hot blooded singer always ends up as a belting match. Same happened with her and Nana Mizuki. It's not BAD but Holy Lonely Night was nice cus it had really different voices working together.

This is my verdict of the songs I listened so far. I have to listen to them x more times to get a more conclusive verdict.

1. Youkoso! Walkure World e - Decent, but why is the instrumental filler 1:50 or 2 minutes long and at the very beginning? It is annoying/tiresome to skip/wait to the good part of it (the start of the actual song). I heard one person's theory for live concerts which is understandable, but to have it on an album? Either remove or shorten it.

2. Namidame Bakuhatsuon - with Claire: Decent.

3. Seikan Hikou - Freya Version: Good, but it's literally Ranka 2.0 so I'm somewhat disappointed. It doesn't help that Minori Suzuki's vocal color is replicating Megumi Nakajima's which I'm hearing more of the latter in this song. I was amusingly thinking that Megumi is featured in the album. Lol. What would have been better is if the child-like voice version is used instead to help differentiate the song from the original.

4. Bokura no Senjou - Freyja Solo: Good.

5. Diamond Crevasse - Mikumo Version: Okay/good, but I think Junna needs more experience/training to refine her singing. She can be a bit off at times, especially in previous songs. On the plus side, the song is different than being a straight copy like Seikan Hikyou - Freya Version, although I still prefer the original.

6. Bokura no Senjou - Mikumo Solo: Good.

7. Giraffe Blue - Kaname Solo Requiem: Good.

8. Walkure ga Tomaranai: Good. The ensemble song is catchy, not overcrowded, and the vocal colors/singing is cohesive/connected/very smooth/not off-pitched. It might be even be the most well executed ensemble song (within the three albums). This would have made a great OP. It is more polish/solid than the ones used in the TV series.

But Diamond Crevasse? Sorry, thats something else. Being hard-associated with Sheryl Nome also renders it rather unimaginable for anyone else to attempt the feat.

You know, I wondered if it's wrong or not to like a fan mix more than original versions and now... I don't care if it's right or wrong anymore.

For one, for all May'n has in her vocals, Diamond Crevasse is a song I always felt had a lackluster chorus because of its background vocals. And I'm also a person who, rightfully, could complain about how there is no proper duet to this version of the song for May'n and Nakajima in the Frontier days (no, the 50/50 does not count here!). And while I'll never have an official duet for May'n and Nakajima, I don't care now because of this fan mix. It's all I needed, to be honest.

Now, I'm not saying it's perfect (god no), and sometimes JUNNA sounds off or misplaced; however in the chorus, their voices compliment each other. You can tell (if it were not a fan mix) that it's a duet without either person overshadowing the other! And considering how hard it is to do any mix without an accapella version of a song (even if this song likely has one for May'n at this point), I hold this person in high regards for a good job because it's quite good in terms of skillfully handling who has which piece and neither singer overshadowing each other in the chorus (which is something I notice people in Delta's fandom complain a little bit too much about considering it's common for singers in a group to have this issue!).

Also, in regards for Seikan Hikou, and for Minori; you know, I said it eons ago either on here or for friends how Minori and Nakajima really sound alike, especially while singing, and it's no surprise how she's able to pull off Seikan Hikou like Nakajima did. I really don't get the gripe on her singing skills here at all...

The new ballad for Giraffe Blues is so beautiful, and sad, and... kind of wish this version had been in episode 10... Walkure Does Not Stop is okay but it's chorus is artfully done because it's so catchy. The newer version of Namidame Bakuhatsuon is... I'll gripe a little bit here: I like it; however, because it's basically a group cover of the original and is not sung by everyone in the series itself... it's kind of unnecessary; don't know if it's longer or shorter than the original though.

The single/solo versions of the songs are good, too; specific credit for the Freyja solo of Our Battlefield, because it's the version I really loved (episode 3!!! accapella intro).

The rest of the album; however, is... god, I really don't like the new song... I don't even know how it's said right now in either English or Japanese and I don't care. The instrumentals do not kill it like the vocals themselves. I don't know, I guess sometimes there has to be that one song on an album which... doesn't belong in the slightest...
