Its strange that females make better Naruto characters even when they are portraying male characters.

Yes I have seen plenty of hot japanese girls (Jpop idols, actresses). But these are normal everyday girls you see on the street, cut them some slack. Afterall, I doubt we all look like Takeshi Kaneshiro. :p

There are alot fat japanese people, but i guess the japanese anime fans work out more. Also, it seems to me that they pick the charector that looks the most like them.
I havent seen any fat japanese sasukes but fat ass american ones. Why dont they just be choji? It's disrespecting all cosplay fans when you're a 250 pound women playing a 110 pound 12 year old boy.

There are fat and skinny people everywhere and I have seen a few in Japanese cosplay websites too.

As for Naruto, whatever race the cosplayer may be, I havn't seen any that really resembles him in looks and attitude so far... :upset:

Yes its still considered "nerdy", but to a lesser degree (nowhere near star trek level!) and much more accepted. For the most part, what passes for cool here, passes for cool over there as well and vice versa. "Cool" is universal. :o

thats true. Very true....i am chubby myself...wel not Monstrous but still quite big. i have like more like a cylinder shaped upper body :heh: naah i jus kiddin. Well i am a little bit chuby. But i am BIG for a 19 year old. :D

But that doesn´t mean i am gonna go out and cosplay like Naruto.
Reason 1. I am about 6'1 feet tall.
Reason 2: Black hair.
Reason 3: deep dark brown eyes.
Reason 4:a bit chubby.
Thats like the total contrast of naruto

Also i haven´t found anyone that i resemble. South americans don´t resemble many manga figures :D well i once saw one that looke much like Joe from fatal fury
(the kickboxer). i would like to do a cosplay someday. But if so. Then someone i look like. For good or bad. :D

i think the main reason is because...

the characters in most anime... well definately Naruto... are mainly based on an ASIAN physique...

as in... even the jounins have a slim physique... which makes it hard sometimes for americans to do it... becuase they tend to have a larger build... even if they are fit... they'll have a lot more muscles which will not fit... whereas the japanese people have a slimmer build... and even if they are muscular... it doesn't show as much....

i forgot the scientific terms for this i knew them before
but it was like this:

there was one type of physique that most americans and europeans were classified under... they have a larger build... muscles are more defined and they are bulkier even when fit...

another type... is what some americans and some europeans are... its an in between.... defined muscles but not as obvious... and aren't as bulky...

finally the last build is the asian build... smaller and skinnier... and even when fit/buff... the muscles aren't as obvious :) hehehe

Well we all have race "bumps" that maybe doesn't allow us to mime our favorite anime characters....

As for example... I'm a hybrid. I have a honey-like natural tan (almost indian or something like that), white features on my face, asian body and afro hair type. =\
Not a good combination to play any anime character.
Still I have the hopes of one day being able to play Vegeta (my fave DBZ char) or Rock Lee (my fave Naruto char). I hope make-up and wigs can do the trick.

In the case of americans/japanese... yeah well it is true that there's a lot of fat japanese, but by default in their DNA, they tend to be smaller and thinner as a race than the rest of the races. But as you all anime fans could already guess.... they make their anime with the exagerations they love about the other races (in the women at least).... you can see the big breasts, the long legs and the eye/hair color, and the figure in most anime girls.....which their japanese women commonly don't have.

For people who are commenting on why some US cosplay looks like the unidentified-gunk-beneath-your-sneakers... well... in Japan, or for various countries in Asia for that matter, anime/cosplaying is a part of mainstream culture, while in the US it's definitely fringe...

So if you consider the subset of anime cosplay population...

There are plenty more normal/decent-looking people (guys and girls) in Japan doing cosplaying, so there are far more good cosplay pics.

In the US, your average cosplayer, being from the fringe population (and may I venture to say *outcast*), is, mathematically-speaking, more likely to turn out to be a "fatass-no-jitsu" just because of sociology and the law of averages (% of overweight people in US > Japan)... and might I mention less cute girls on average are willing to cosplay as well... :-(

We played a song of Retard-o-bot 2000's about a man with the faggy hair, I played Kakashi with the faggy hair...anyways, people on tekkos website are so sad...like they cant even take a joke..."why were they doing that to Kakashi...cry cry..."
I fucking cosplay as him...im not disrespecting him at all, and our off time lip syncing was all very Andy Kaufman-esque in response.

They're American. Anime is not nearly as widespread as it is in Japan. Some Americans go very in detail and make fabulous costumes but for most convention-goers cosplay isn't something they put time and effort into, they just go for fun...

Not all JP cosplayers make their own outfits either.

I mean, Cospa takes commissions. Granted, their quality may be unparalleled but they're pretty damn pricey to have stuff "order made" ie, custom taylored to you.
